With his infectiously upbeat manner, Jonathan brings out the best in his subjects. Camera-​shy people find themselves suddenly photogenic, and everyone enjoys a laugh on his set.

His love of people and cultures has lead Jonathan to live in 3 countries and visit 30 countries so far. He explores each destination through his lens, bringing the images and stories home to share. His work has earned numerous awards, including finalist in the 2010 PDN Photo Annual Photo Journalism category, and finalist in the 2010 Communication Arts Photo Annual.

A frequent public speaker, Jonathan exhibits his work at school, corporate and cultural events. His images also appeared in National Geographic Traveller, Lonely Planet online & print publications.

A native of Auckland, New Zealand, Jonathan earned a Bachelor’s in Design from the Auckland University of Technology. His long creative career has included work as an illustrator, animator, and web designer as well as photographer.

My friend and I ran into Jonathan at Burning Man and we had an impromptu photo shoot. Jonathan was sincerely kind and interacted well with us as he took our photos. As a model, I’ve worked with plenty of photographers before, and I have to say that it’s important to feel comfortable when you’re in front of the camera. Jonathan will do just that. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing behind the camera, and it shows in the photos.
I got my favorite photos of myself and my best friend at Burning Man from Jonathan, and quickly might I add. I truly recommend him, as a photographer and as a person!

Recently, Jonathan took some head shots of me that I have happily used in several platforms. He also promptly turned over the finished photos within a couple days. His blend of technical and artistic talents and his affable and warm character make him a unique photographer and a very fun person to work with. His passion for his craft is clearly evident. As a photographer and an artist, he has the crucial ability to notice and capture your essence and the natural beauty in you. Very highly recommended.

This review is long overdue. I have hired Jonathan Clark multiple times and I wouldn’t ever plan on going with a different photographer or cinematographer. He’s got a uniquely artistic eye and you can trust his vision, yet he’s very interested in chatting with you first about what YOU would like to capture. It’s really the perfect collaboration. You can trust that he will listen to what your needs and desires are… but also completely trust in his artistry. He’s the best at what he does and you are also guaranteed to work with somebody who will put you at ease. He’s a pleasure to work with and each shoot I’ve done with him feels like hanging out with a friend. He also sends you digital copies right away, which is AWESOME if you’re looking for a fast turnaround. I highly highly recommend Jonathan Clark!

Jonathan is awesome to work with and makes you feel so comfortable, and beautiful at the same time… quite a gift! I am not someone who likes getting their photograph taken, and especially don’t like ‘posing’ for a camera lens, but Jonathan made the whole experience fun and relaxed.
I was beyond amazed at the photos he took of me and my dog at the beach (our favorite place), and the way he was able to capture the special bond we have is priceless. I absolutely LOVE the photos he took of us, he is a true artist!
If you have never had any professional photographs of yourself taken before, he is the BEST!

Jonathan is such a great photographer and this is coming from someone who knows about photography. He has such a great eye and is very creative. He recently took my portraits and I was amazed at how they turned out. More like floored actually! He really does know how to make the mundane look special. I’ve compared his work to other portrait photographers and his work clearly stands above the rest. He was a lot of fun to go out on a shoot with and he made me feel at ease (I’m one of those self-​conscious ones).

Jonathan has a way of capturing life in its most natural setting. A candid of life taken at a moments blink of an eye is radiant and spectacular. No matter where the backdrop or background of his photos are taken, you are drawn into his photos as if you were right there. My wife and I recently had Jonathan over for a gathering/​celebration at our place. Everyone was very impressed with the photos he took — not only were they technically perfect, but also managed to capture the spirit of each moment strikingly well. If there where 10 stars, Jonathan would get them all. A mutli-​talented photographer, with a great personality and video production and direction skills. When we hired Jonathan to do some portraits of our family and a wedding, little did we know that besides having great technical skill to capture light and mood with his lens, that he also had a great eye for catching the unexpected. He has a way of making the mundane look exceptional. Hes also very fun.
On the video side, after hiring him for photography, I looked up his work on youtube and am amazed by his filming and effects talent. He is a real Gem in the bay area!
Even tough guys like me, get all emotional talking about him.

Jonathan is the most talented photographer I’ve ever come across! I’ve worked with many photographers in the past for different events but no one compares to Jonathan! He was our wedding photographer and did an outstanding job. It was pouring down on our wedding day and Jonathan was so creative, using the rain, reflections and transparent umbrellas to create the most beautiful shots! He is so easy and nice to work with and has an incredible sense of snapping shots just at the right moment to make you shine in a very natural way. It didn’t surprise me to find out that Jonathan’s impressive work has been published internationally and has won him all kinds of awards including a 1st place National Geographic prize. Since our wedding, we’ve hired Jonathan for several family gatherings and every time, his photography skills blow us away! I would highly recommend Jonathan, you won’t be disappointed!
