This place is very friendly and the food is awesome! They were very nice to my daughter and even made her pancakes to look like Mickey Mouse! Definitely will come again!

I was referred to this restaurant by a local establishment near their location. I was told that the service was great and the food even better. I walked into the restaurant and it was extremely busy I was seated and waited on by a waitress. I did not catch this waitress’s name I wish I had. After getting my beverage which was coffee she came to my table and pointed out that the“senior discount” menu was on the back. I am only 49 years old I was extremely offended I have worked hard in the out of doors and maybe I am a bit weathered but found this very offensive. Once she came back to my table I asked her if she could tell how old I was she said I haven’t a clue, I advised her that I was not even 50 years old. After stewing on this for a bit and eating my meal which I will say tasted OK, I left her a tip not in the natural fashion. I left her a note on a napkin that indicated to her that perhaps she should verify that someone is a senior citizen before pointing this menu out. Not only was I offended but it ruined by meal as well. It would be like me asking her if she was pregnant and then realizing that she was just fat. I left her a 2 cent tip, as this was my 2 cents worth. will not be back…

Very busy place, so much so that I did have a little trouble finding parking. This, to me, is always a good sign, I don’t mind waiting if it’s going to be good. We were seated fairly quickly. The waitstaff is very friendly and will help you find something if you are unsure. Not only that but the food came out so quick we didn’t have time to finish our pre-dinner soup! The food was a little less great than I was expecting, but the staff more than made up for it. The only real complaint I have is how close you are to people at other tables.

Went here as a stop before heading to Yosemite. The restaurant looks nice, it has an old school feel to it. The waiters were nice and attentive, the food came out pretty quick and was pretty good. The portions of food were decent. I got the chicken fried steak but would probably opt opt out of getting it in the future. I’m glad we got breakfast here before going into Yosemite Valley I’ll be sure to come again next time I go to Yosemite.

I came back to Paul’s Place after a while of not going, because the last time I went my burger was way to undercooked for my taste. Also because I felt the food just wasn’t as good anymore. I went the other day and I ordered a Tuna Melt. Omg the Tuna Melt was the best. I usually pick out tomatoes from all my food, if I forget to ask for no tomatoes. This time I ate it. I really liked how to the tuna was cooked slightly on the griddle as well. The portion was big also. It was just really satisfying. The service was excellent as always. All the servers are super attentive and friendly. They also have a starving students menu for local students which has several options that are minimally priced. The items on the starving students menu don’t match up as well as the regular menu items. I tried a few but it was just pretty basic tasting but they do have unlimited pasta for like $ 8 I believe. So if you’re ever down to eat carbs carbs carbs def order it. If not do yourself a favor and get the Tuna Melt it is on POINT.

When it comes to the basic traditional American food restaurants in the merced area this is your best bet. I still remember being a kid and thinking this place was for old people but now you can catch me here grubbin down… never go to Denny’s again.

I came here for the first time today at 4 pm. I ordered the French dip and my boyfriend ordered the crispy ranch chicken sandwhich. I got curly fries and he got regular fries. There was no extra chagre for curly fries. We decided to split so we could each try both. The crispy ranch chicken sandwhich was deep fried served with melted cheese and two toasted pieces of bread. The tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and ranch were served on the side. It was well cooked, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Very delicious. The French dip was beef on two toasted pieces of bread. I paid 50 cents extra for swiss cheese. The au jus eas really hot and had a lot of flavor. I enjoyed this sandwhich more than the other. I will definitely be coming back in the near future.

I love Paul’s Place! The employees are very friendly and warming. The Starving Student menu for us college students is pretty amazing! They are very fast when it comes to bringing your food out! Thelma is an amazing employee! I always look for her when I eat here!!!

My friend and I went during the morning and there was a lot of people there. The server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I ordered the corn beef hash with biscuits and gravy while my friend ordered a French dip sandwich. I wasn’t a huge fan of the corn beef hash, I enjoyed the biscuits and gravy, and loved the hash brown. Service is amazing, but the food is just okay.

We love this place. When we have guests come in to town we take them there for breakfast. Every one loves their Portuguese style omelet and beans… And all the employee are all so sweet. A must try… ENJOY!

Hmmmm not entirely sure why this is rated so high, the food is very verrry average. I’ve eaten here 3 times and every time its nothing special. Their menu appears to be large, though upon careful inspection the selection is rather small. They have the typical stuff, burgers, sandos, chicken strips, breakfast stuff whatever. Nothing that stands out. I find it hard to differentiate Paul’s from any other ol’ burger joint. So far I found the food rather greasy, the chili burger was ridiculous with the two buns under the patty and then piled with chili. you had to eat it with a fork, It was crazy. The buns on the burgers are sopping wet with grease. Not to mention the fries are pretty boring, thick sliced and not crispy. Maybe I’m crazy, maybe I can’t see why its rated high, maybe if you’re into this stuff you will find it divine. Who knows. Service was perfect 5/5, very nice and respectful.

I absolutely adore Paul’s Place and their staff, they obviously screen check everyone for employment to ensure a family-oriented restaurant and excellent service. Don’t expect your food ASAP– they’re preparing it from scratch and assuring that they have made your food high-quality. My first visit I ordered the Texas Burger, minus pickle, and was crunchy toast, well sauteed onions and BBQ sauce on the side for more than dipping fries in. You want a good burger? Get a Texas burger here, you WILLNOT regret the sweet tangy flavor they make from scratch. My second visit was a little slower than the first, given it was a weekend dinner rush– yet the quality was retained. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, thinking of a small plate and HOLYCRAP– you get a huge biscuit with two eggs on top, drizzled with gravy and actual chunks of sausage. When your GF has to smack you to get your attention from how beautiful this plate is, you know it’s 5 star material. I will say, the desserts are meh, but the point of coming here is high-quality diner comfort foods. The best.

This is a great little diner! It definitely has a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The staff was warm and friendly, as well as very attentive. We went here because we were looking for somewhere that had breakfast all day. I ordered the French toast platter with bacon and eggs fried over hard. The eggs and bacon were delicious(but I understand these things are hard to mess up!). The French toast was good, but nothing special, I certainly found myself a little jealous of the pile of pancakes and waffle at my table!

For sometime now I have been hearing about this place from family members who all love this place, so naturally I had to go and try it to confirm for myself what they had said about it. I went with a female companion of mine to eat before we headed to the theater to see the new Jurassic World movie which by the way was badass!!! When I first walked in I couldn’t help but notice all of the pictures and signs covering almost every wall, I liked this as I’m a very visual person and it gave me sort of a small town homely feeling that I love. We were greeted nicely and seated right away. Our waiter was a younger guy mid twenties close to our age I suspect who was very nice and like to joke around with us. We ordered some waters because the searing fucking heat outside had dehydrated us on the 15 second walk from the car to the restaurant. Soon after we order our food which consisted of their tuna melt and the appetizer platter which alone was enough food for 2 people. The tuna melt was delicious to say the least it can with fries which were also great. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes a good tuna melt. The platter came with 6 different items chicken tenders, curly fries, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, quesadillas, and potato wedges. I seriously loved everything on the plate especially the chicken tenders I’ve always freaking loved chicken tenders and these were awesome. My company loved anything as well especially the mozzarella sticks which was sorta the whole reason she order this big ass platter. By the time our belly’s were full and we were done eating we still had enough food left to fill a to go box so we got one and took our leftovers with us. All in all this place was great I don’t have any real complaints about it other then it seems to be for an older crowd but I don’t mind at all. I would recommend this place to any one who wants a lot of home style food for a good price in a warm welcoming environment.

Pauls place is a very good diner in Merced. Their food have always been on point out of the many times I’ve been there. I have met many servers, and all of them are knowledgeable on the food and super courteous. Everytime I see them they alway have a smile on their face. I always order the student menu, and it would not be smaller because it’s an discounted meal. Food is affordable and full of flavors. I would definitely come back.
