Moving is Hell. It is rated among the top five stressers in life after death of a loved one and divorce, and before major illness and job loss. And I had been wallowing in Purgatory for many weeks, trying to figure out how to manage this since this would be the first time I needed to hire outside movers.
I found Vitesse Moving through their ads on Craigslist. Yeah, yeah, I know. But I diligently checked their reviews on Unilocal which turned out to be overwhelmingly positive, including, now, this one.
I prepared a detailed list of what needed to be moved. A lot of stuff already packed in boxes, loose stuff and some large items too much for me to handle. Nothing weird. Vitesse was the ONLY local company out of four of those who also post frequently on Craigslist that responded to my request for quote through email. I received a reply within two or three hours asking for my phone number which is necessary for their «system» to process a quote. The next day I received a quote with a detailed breakdown analysis. It is viewed online with the option to download a PDF copy. Very professional. The total was higher than I was expecting but the hourly rate and truck/​travel fee were comparable to postings of other Craigslist moving companies. (The big Corporate moving companies likely charge astronomical rates.) I did have a lot of stuff even for a two bedroom apartment, just wanted to get this moving thing over with and would certainly not trust any company that I had to nag just to get an estimate. I accepted the offer online with a mouse click and received an immediate email thank-​you confirmation. The confirmation email does not state this (it should), but customers are expected to follow-​up with a credit card number to lock in the booking. Like a hotel room. I called a day or two later and was booked for the date in the middle of May 2016, three weeks hence.
Late morning the day before the big move I hadn’t heard anything and was, of course, all around nervous and frazzled. I called and quickly confirmed. So far, so good. At 3:22pm that afternoon, a very nice woman called to confirm and discuss all the arrangements. Very pleasant, very helpful and informative. They apparently farm out confirmation to this third party. The call does come through as an anonymous «Cellular Call» with a 240 Area code so be forewarned to expect that. This is probably too late in the day to be of comfort to those of us who are nervous and worry warts about everything that could go wrong, but they do make that confirmation call reliably and didn’t forget about me.
The next day the crew arrived exactly at 8:00am as scheduled. I was way out of it, having stayed up too late, gotten up too early, not had any coffee and not had enough sleep for the previous few days getting prepared. They introduced themselves individually (I was so out of it I can’t remember all their names) and we did a quick walk-​around. I was presented with the estimate in writing to sign which matched the online estimate.
So, cut to the chase, how did it go? Dante and his crew were absolutely superb. They didn’t waste a minute and worked feverishly the entire time. Big, strong guys handled heavy stuff effortlessly and didn’t even take a break. After everything was loaded in record time we headed off separately to the destination suburb, 20 miles away. I thought I drove fast, but they actually arrived before I did, by about two minutes. No time wasted.
Unloading was equally fast and efficient. They were exceedingly careful and there was NO damage to contents or house. I found it worked best if I stood outside near the truck answering questions about which room various items should be placed. A couple items (bed and frame, etc.) needed reassembly, which they handled quickly and skillfully.
When all was said and done, they were done much faster than the estimate projected. They charge based on actual time only, which is calculated via phone call. I was told the total verbally which was much less than the estimate. However, be advised that your results may vary if you are not straight with them in describing exactly everything that needs to be moved.
As for payment, I recall that billings under $ 400 are paid in cash, over that cash or credit card, the latter they add on the 3% fee the credit card companies charge. No personal checks. My charge came through exactly the amount I was told verbally at the end of the move. But be prepared with enough cash on hand to give these guys a BIG tip. They will earn it and you will feel bad if you don’t.
Bottom line: I could have not been more pleased (and relieved) with the service I received from Vitesse Moving and would absolutely hire them again and recommend to friends and neighbors. They made Moving Hell much less hellacious.

I had VERY short notice to move out and these guys were life savers! The quoted price was great, they had all the necessary materials to help move my things safely and carefully, and were friendly and super fast. They called to confirm on a Sunday and when they were running a little late because of traffic that morning, they called me right away to let me know. I will use them for my next move and recommend them to everyone I know!

I used Vitesse movers recently and was pleased overall with the service. They were quick and efficient in getting the job done. The only issues I had were that they didn’t call me the day before to confirm (I had to call them to confirm), and they arrived about an hour late. I was notified that they were running late though. Overall, I think they did a good job at a reasons price.

I had the best moving experience with this company. They were fast and very helpful. Dennis and Daniel assisted in repositioning furniture for cable installation and even offered to help with the items I had in my car. I will definitely use Vitesse moving company again!

I had a great experience with them — they were recommended by a friend. I have used many movers over the years, some good, some bad. This experience was positive. My move was Tuesday February 9^th and Nick and Stan were a little late, but they called ahead and it was no issue. As stated, the clock started when they arrived and stopped when they finished. It took longer then I was quoted but this was due to me having them take more than I had planned as they did such a good job packing the truck, I had room for more — so this was completely acceptable. Nick and Stan were very professional and took great care not to damage any of my things. They couldn’t have been any nicer — even dealing with our puppy lab that wanted to play with them while they were moving! Overall great experience and I will recommend to my friends.

My movers were Nick and Stan. They exceeded my expectations. They had to deal with stairs and tricky elevators but made it work!

If these guys hadn’t been a half hour late (not calling) I would have given them 5 stars without a doubt.
I was moving from the Loop to Logan Square and needed some assistance with the move. Call and set up an appointment for a 2 hour move. Prices seemed reasonable and everything else was squared away.
On moving day, two guys showed up, packed my stuff into the truck, delivered it, and all was good.
The guys who moved me were quick and efficient, friendly, and handled everything with care. I have had some bad experiences with movers in the past, but these guys stepped up and exceeded my expectations. I mean if they are good enough to move Jimmy Butler and his things, then mine should be in good hands.
Also worth noting, there is a two hour minimum and a one time transit fee if your move is in the city.

The movers were professional. They arrived on time and moved my boxes very quickly. I would recommend this company to anyone I know.

I hired Vitesse to help with my move from Minnesota to Chicago. Alex was very easy to deal with and arranged everything very smoothly. He was always reachable and reassuring me that all will be taken care of. The movers arrived as planned and were very professional, quick and packed all my stuff without any problems. The next morning they arrived even a little early ready to unpack. I live in a high rise downtown so it was tricky fitting in my big couch but it was no problem for them. They put all my furniture together and did not leave a mark on any of the hallways. I was surprised to see that I didn’t have to pay any extra money for living on a high floor and I only paid as much as my estimate was. My previous moving company charged me extra because I had a long hallway and they had to carry all my stuff. So I already told them that I’ll be needing them for my next move!

This company is awesome. I used them for my move than referred my parents to them. They did a great job on both occasions. Last minute request are honored and no hidden charges. A+

I’ve used a variety of moving companies over the years and I have to say that Vitesse was very very good — they set expectations well, sent qualified and friendly movers, were very efficient, and delivered at 20% below their estimate which was already lower than other bids I received.
Dante called me about a half hour before they arrived and was very apologetic about being an hour late. (It was their second move of the day and the previous one ran late. I wasn’t surprised, these things happen.)
Dante and Didar arrived, rapidly assessed my belongings that were in storage and got to work. When I scheduled they warned me that the only truck they had available might not be large enough, and as we got part way in it was beginning to look like it wouldn’t so they proactively called in another guy with a van. He was also a nice hardworking trustworthy guy (Joe).
There were three things that differentiated them. 1) I had several pieces of furniture that I wanted to donate to St. Vincent DePaul Thrift. They didn’t hesitate for a second to help me pull those items out and put them in my UHaul. (I’ve had other movers grumble about involving other trucks.) 2) They were genuinely nice guys. I wouldn’t think twice if any of them were dating my daughter. (I’ve had some in the past that were, well, concerning.)
Nothing was damaged, everyone was respectful to each other, and I couldn’t be more satisfied.

I went above and beyond with this company to ensure a smooth moving day. I made several phone calls to Brad and during the preliminary stages leading up to my move, everything was moving along OK. I did find myself being more proactive with the company however in regards to setting up a site visit to ensure the accuracy of my quote. To call and confirm prior to move date etc.
The day of the move, I got a phone stating that they were running behind and would be an hour late. Then when the movers arrived and assessed my home, the mover said that the one truck would not be adequate to haul all my belongings. This was the reason I insisted on a home site inspection as they are the professionals and should know how many men and trucks it would require to move my belongings. This is when all of the problems started. What should have been 6 hour move turned into a almost 10 hour move! Not only did it cost me time out of an entire day but the company then wanted to charge me almost double for having to send out a 2^nd truck and an additional man! It was absolutely ridiculous. I had a couple of my belongings get broke in the move and the next day I realized my fireplace tools were not in my home. Therefore they must have been left on the truck possibly wrapped in a blanket. I never got a call from the company advising me that they had my fireplace tools to make it right and return them to me as I would have expected.
I was on the phone for almost a half hour trying to resolve all of the problems of my day. The company kept trying to say that the estimate is «just that». An estimate. I can understand some slight discrepancies with time but a mistake this large just shouldn’t be excused. It was clear that either the gentleman who came to do my site inspection was highly unreliable OR they were pulling a classic bait and switch on me and then trying to hide behind the «estimate». During the time that was being wasted waiting for the 2^nd truck to arrive so the remainder of my belongings could be loaded, the crew that was at my house were moving quite slow since they knew they had time to burn to wait for the 2^nd truck. Of course they advised that my time would stop and I would not have to pay while they waited for the second truck to arrive. But of course, anyone can stretch out that time by moving slow and taking your time loading up the first truck. They did a fine job in accomplishing just this.
When the 2^nd truck arrived, everyone really hustled. When we got to my new residence, everyone really hustled. That part went fine but in all reality I was billed for many extra hours that I should not have been responsible for if the job was quoted correctly. Not only that but my entire day was now wasted in dealing with this mistake. This job was supposed to have been completed by 1pm and wasn’t until almost 6:30pm. Further, my office desk was broken in the move, my nightstand and one of the dials on my SS Grill. My fireplace tools also never made it off the truck.
I do not feel this company is very professional and the manner in which they approached my bill at the end was not with any sort of integrity.

Daniel and Dennis were awesome. They were patient with our giant sofa that took a lot of work to move. They didn’t complain when they had to carry it down 6 flights of stairs. Solid, professional guys. Would highly recommend! Thanks fellas

Daniel and Dennis helped me move. They were both very nice and professional. They had to maneuver my furniture around some tough angles and did it without a problem. They place things in my new place where I asked and worked without complaining.
My move took longer than what the woman over the phone and I thought it would, but they were able to get it done. It also was a good price compared to others I had researched.
I would recommend them. This is my first time using movers and I would use them again.

We had a wonderful experience using Vitesse as our movers. To begin with they were very understanding and accommodating of our need to reschedule our move a number of times due to some technical difficulties on our end. No extra charges, complaints, or difficulties there.
The day of the move they were on time and got started right away. They were very clear about what time they were going to start the clock for charging us and worked at a steady pace the entire time. They were very mindful of our belongings and put a lot of care into organizing the truck in a way that would secure everything. We moved into a top-​floor vintage apartment that only allows move-​in access via a winding, steep, wooden staircase. Among the usual boxes, our items consisted of a number of antique, heavy, hardwood furniture pieces as well as 20+ paintings and a 65 gallon fish tank. All of these things made it into the new apartment in one piece without even the slightest hiccup. They were extremely accommodating and communicative with us about how the fish tank would be packed and they were willing to make adjustments as per our request.
Very professional, efficient, and friendly movers. Highly recommended!

I got a quote via Thumbtack within hours of my post. I booked them kind of last minute (maybe a week and a half prior) and they were able to accommodate my move. I was moving my things to a storage unit and it took them less than 2 hours; they even showed up 15 min early. The 2 men were friendly and careful with my belongings while moving them. I’d use this moving company again and recommend to friends!

Best movers in Chicago! Seriously, call them and don’t waste your time with anyone else.
I’ve had to move 6 times in the past 2 years, and thanks to my experience with Vitesse, I’ll probably never use a different moving company again! They not only offered the best price out of at least 15 companies that I searched, but they had excellent service as well. I was extremely impressed.
They provided 2 wardrobe boxes for my move at no additional cost, and they showed up with extra packing supplies to ensure a safe move. Brad followed up with me the night before to confirm, so that took a lot of stress off my plate. They did arrive 15 minutes late, but they called me well in advance to let me know. I know this can happen from time to time, especially with crazy traffic in Chicago, but they were the first company that actually let me know beforehand so that I didn’t have to worry! They STILL finished 30 minutes early. Everything was quick and easy. They were very careful with my belongings, and maintained a lot of professionalism throughout the entire move. Did I mention that they were also the BEST price?!
Don’t waste you time with any other company! These guys are the best with great customer service and amazing price quotes!

Vitesse made our move very easy. The great customer service from the office began with Anna and was followed up on the actual moving day with Brad. I had shopped around for movers and actually found another company available & a bit less expensive, however, my first interaction with Anna put my mind to rest that we would have capable movers show up on a Sunday morning.
There was a delay of an hour that was communicated 24 hours in advance. Denise and another gentleman showed up at the new time and took very good care of our belongings from wrapping to securing items in the trućk. They were extremely accommodating when we were unable to have the dock door open at our condo. They moved everything through the side door and used the lift to put everything into the truck.
I would absolutely recommend Vitesse for any move. The rates are reasonable and service spectaclular.

From start to finish, Vitesse did a great job moving my belongings from my 3-​bedroom house into storage. They responded quickly to my Thumbtack project request with an estimate that was easy to understand and their rate was within the range of the other quotes I received. They were the first to call to follow up and see if I had any questions. I received a final quote via email and there were no problems even though I changed the move date. They even emailed me a reminder the day before.
On moving day, Dante, Oscar and Juan arrived on time (maybe a few minutes early) and were ready to get going. We did a quick walk-​through and they worked fast — in fact, my belongings were packed in far less time than I anticipated. They also suggested ways to wrap the furniture to protect it and came equipped with extra supplies. They unpacked the truck in record time, and did a good job maximizing space in the storage unit. The final bill came in under budget. I highly recommend Vitesse and will definitely use them again for future moves!
