Bob and crew moved us on a Sunday afternoon, came in at 9am and done by 3p! I had estimates from other companies and had a good idea what it all would take, Bob and crew nailed it! Great price, good crew and very friendly. Tha k you Bob, Rob, Pauly, and Brian. Give Bob a call, you won’t be disappointed!

These guys are absolutely fantastic. I’ve moved four times around Chicago in the last six years and they amaze me every time.

Great with random requests too. Need some blocks of wood for keeping your items up off the ground? They can supply it. Need to move you stuff but also move half your sectional couch to someone’s else’s basement? Done and done. I’ll use these guys forever at this rate. We just had the fastest most organized move from one second floor room in Skokie to another second floor room in Chicago (which means a bunch of stairs). The moving truck did say Concierge, but I spoke to Bob who set this up for me and it worked out great. My mom and I couldn’t have done it without you guys. The movers were efficient, professional, kind, and very affordable. They actually were the most fair priced movers in Chicago (and I had called at least a dozen places). Thank you so much for all your help! We will definitely use this company again for our next move!

Bob and his team made moving easy. Bob showed up when they said they would and managed the entire process within the quoted window. What’s more, they were friendly and upbeat throughout the entire process. I have a lot of wood furniture that I wanted protected and after moving, there wasn’t a scratch on a single item.

Bob’s movers were amazing! I spent the last few days trying to get friends to help move my mom’s stuff out of her condo with no success. Panicking from my failure to get help, i searched google for a moving company. Bob’s moving muscle popped up on top with great reviews. Called them praying that they would have moving muscles available. Success! Bob was awesome and his team of movers were professional, courteous and very cool! two thumbs up guys you Rock!!!

These guys are the real deal.
I’ve made some pretty big moves in my day, from SF to DC and now Chicago. Through the zillion times I’ve moved, I have never hired a better team that Bob and his first mate, Onan.
These guys moved a MONSTER heirloom oak dining room table like it was nothing at all. I’ve posted pictures for ref, but I’m telling you, the amount of muscle and delicate cornering that these guys managed was herculean. Of course, they also moved the grotesque amount of other stuff I’ve accumulated over the years, but the table in particular was amazing.
The defining trial for movers, however, is not just the massive heavy stuff, but the attention to detail with the little stuff. This is where my 4 star review turned into a well-​earned 5 star review. Not a glass broken nor a wall scraped. Just flawless.
And now the money part: the quote Bob gave me over the phone was only half of the time it took to move all my stuff. Even at that, Bob stuck to his original quote. A true gentleman’s move. (I tipped substantially, of course, because these guys earned every penny and more!)
Hope this helps other Unilocalers looking into this company. I would not hesitate for a second to hire these guys again, and I highly recommend that others do the same.

After reading a lot of positive reviews I was happy to talk to Alan at Bob’s moving and arrange my move. He gave me total confidence in everything working out great for our moving day. However, the day of the move 3 guys showed up thinking they were moving me out of my studio apartment (I actually had a 4 floor townhouse!) Took 7 hours instead of the quoted 3. They even asked me to buy them dinner halfway through. Not the poor guys fault they were screwed by the team running the operation. Found out that night about the merge of Bob’s with Concierge and it sounds like that was were this company went wrong. The next day they delivered my goods, showed up 10 minutes before the «time window» expired. When I called Alan concerned about the late arrival he said «Oh well, we’ll get it to you tomorrow?» What!!! Turns out he had me confused with someone else. Clearly doesn’t have things as together as I thought. Since they left, we’ve realized they took off with our brooms (really!!!), broke my daughter’s exersaucer (which Concierge was kind enough to inform me that my 30 cents per pound insurance wasn’t even worth filing a claim about), and last but not least… My husband went to unpack his office yesterday. They ripped the back off the desk, threw away the broken pieces, and neatly shoved a filing cabinet in front of it so we couldn’t see it. Never said a word. I’ve made 3 calls to Concierge since moving to get claim forms and ask about our brooms. They are short with me and tell me claiming my items and finding my brooms aren’t worth my time. Maybe not the brooms, but my $ 1000 desk sure is. Clearly don’t care about customer service. Stay away.

I had just finished my first year at my current job and needed to relocate from Chicago to Atlanta. My family and I had moved me up from Texas, and that move was less than ideal, ending in a lot of sore backs and the only Penske convertible I’ve ever seen (and yes — I mean we tore a hole in the top of the truck by going under a bridge that the truck was a tad too tall for!) so needless to say, I really wanted someone else to do all of the heavy lifting and the 750 miles of driving. I began looking online and started getting a few quotes, many of which were $ 6000+ and only came with a 2 week window for delivery. And then I found Bob on Unilocal.And let me be the first to tell you, he has great ratings for a reason! Bob’s prices were incredible (remember, we’re working on year out of college budget here) and you will not find a guy who works harder than Bob. He picked up on a Monday morning and my stuff was delivered in Atlanta 2 days later (and Bob wanted to do it the next day but I told him I wanted to make it a more scenic drive, so of course he said that was fine! Everything was expertly packed, from the true valuables to my pancake syrup, everything arrived in perfect condition (so make sure to ask him to do at least the kitchen packing for you — you won’t regret it!). Bob is also great at keeping you updated and communicating with you along the way, whether it’s text messages letting you know where he is and that the drive is going well or a call or an email responding to one of your many questions, he’s always so prompt to reply! Bob is a pleasure to do business with and I will definitely be using him for any and all future moves and would recommend him to anyone and everyone!

Bobs moving muscle let down its long years of trust with their customers by selling it to wrong company. FIND SOMETHING ELSE.
Normally, I don’t write reviews, but this time I HAVE TO SAVE everyone from the heart attack.
Bobs moving muscle is now merged with Concierge Movers, and Bob no longer moves stuff. I arranged the move with Bob because I had always had pleasure experience with him over the last 4 years (total of 3 moves). However, I found out on the day of move that Bobs moving muscle is taken over by Concierge Movers.
1 day before Move: Concierge Movers confirmed the move and even charged deposit.
On the day of move: One hour before the move, one guy called me and said that moving truck is down and morning move will be rescheduled to the afternoon. I told him that I couldn’t do that as I arranged morning move with both moving in/​out places. I asked him if they have any other folks who can come immediately. Then the guys says «No we don’t. If you find another company, please let us know. Have a good day» and hangs up. At the end, I complained to Concierge Movers and it sent me movers with rental truck. But they should’ve done that before giving me surprise news.

Let me start by saying that my past experiences with movers have been TERRIBLE. So, I came into this slightly jaded and very skeptical.
Part 1: Booking the Move
I spoke with Bob to set up my move about 6 weeks prior than the actual move date. He was very pleasant and upbeat, which left a good first impression. I ran through my pre-​determined list of questions that I wrote and used with all the other movers I bid for the job. I specifically asked about any differences in price if I paid with cash or credit card and I asked about the requirements to reserve the move or make a cancellation. Bob confirmed my reservation via email and it seemed we were good to go! However, the day before my actual move I received a call asking for a deposit from a company I had never heard of. This was suspicious to me, so I called Bob to confirm whether or not it was legitimate. I got his voicemail that stated his company had merged with the new company, but an email beforehand probably would have made that less disconcerting… Not to mention that he never said anything about a deposit when I was asking about next steps for my reservation. I called the company back to inform them I was not aware of a deposit for my move and then the person proceeded to inform me that if I paid with a credit card it would be an extra 4% of my moving costs. Another thing I specifically addressed while speaking with Bob. While I was speaking with the representative who did waive my deposit and confirmed that if I paid in cash, I would not be charged the 4% extra, Bob was calling me on the other line. After I hung up with the receptionist, I checked my voicemail and hear Bob talking about me to his receptionist because he apparently didn’t realize he was leaving a voicemail on my phone. He was basically telling her that he had given me all the information about the deposit and credit card fee… In an unfriendly tone. Honestly, if I hadn’t had to move literally the next day, I would have cancelled.
Part 2: The Move Itself
The actual movers somewhat redeemed the experience for me. The crew showed up late, which was expected because well, movers always show up late. The crew was super friendly and very professional. They were SPEEDY but careful. We had prepped our apartment so it was just furniture and ready to be wrapped with blankets and taken to the truck. They were aware that time is money and I appreciated that. They were very positive and fun to work with. So, 4 stars for the guys, but 3 stars overall because of the administrative problems.

I needed someone to move some furniture within my house in preparation for having some work done. I called Bob, and he came the next day. Both Bob and his partner were great– they did a great job, and I’m definitely going to call them when the furniture needs to be moved back.

Used Bob’s again in July 2014 for a move from the ABF U-​Pack facility by Midway to a Loop apartment with Elevator. Unfortunately, Bob’s has grown and now hires out their movers a majority (if not all) of the time. They were very early (an hour plus) which is never usually a problem but because I am paying hourly and needed to arrive to my condo within a specific move-​in time for the freight elevator, the total move took a bit longer because we had to wait for the elevator. I had 3 movers who were decently careful with moving things from the shipping container and my car into their van. However, they were not as careful and seemingly experienced as my previous move with Bob himself in 2011. I will say that overall, the price was cheaper than basically any other movers but I would really like to see Bob take a better look at who he is contracting out for this work. I would hate to see this once incredible company continue to slide. I will be contacting them for my next move but hope to speak with Bob in person before deciding to hire.

I must say, given the amount of positive reviews I’m completely shocked how everything turned out. As far as dealing with Bob myself, he was wonderful; his movers are terrible. Note: This move was across states.
Starting off, his movers showed up more than an hour late to start packing my apartment studio. The movers did know I needed to leave by noon to go catch my flight, so timing is critical. I paid for packing and boy was that a damn mistake. For example, I had a desk organizer with pens, pencils, and markers on my desk. A mover took it off and tossed it in the box and I could here the contents spilling out of the organizer in the box. I should have told them to stop and just leave but I let them continue in hopes that things would go okay. Despite tossing my average items in boxes (only leaving me flustered while unpacking), they did wrap anything fragile very well. Go. Figure. Why aren’t they treating these items the same way?
Further, they ran out of packing supplies along the way and had to use garage bags for my clothes. Yes, I paid for packing and they ran out of supplies despite me sending them pictures of my studio and a detail item list. How can movers be so inexperienced? It seemed like their first rodeo.
Once my studio was done, it’s ‘suppose’ to be a 24 – 36 hour turn around, at least for the state I was traveling to. But, I called my mover for an update and texted him without a getting a reply until I tried again. He was delayed for some reason… so he showed up about 6 – 9 hours later than anticipated. My ikea desk leg broke. I had two Rubbermaid containers break, as well. Unpacking my items was overwhelming and a true sh$# show. I urge future movers to think about using this company. I had such high hopes and I can honestly say they were crushed.
Update:
I communicated with Bob, and the mover that helped me will no long be working with him. He decided to refund me for the packing and will be sending me a check in the mail. Still disappointed. Money can’t really help with a terrible experience, but it will help me replace my broken desk.
Secondary Update:
After fully unpacking, I realized the movers some of items that my studio. Disappointed :(

Over the years, Bob and his team have moved me three times, plus a handful of smaller moves. He’s moved most of my friends and some family, and all of us confidently recommend him to anyone who asks about movers.
It seems like Moving Muscle works in volume, so they don’t mess around, and get the job done quickly — provided, of course, that the person moving has everything ready to go. If the home isn’t ready to go (happened to me once), they didn’t skip a beat, kept going. Even when I had a longer and more complicated move, I was really surprised by the competitive price, and happy to tip the crew more than I expected.
Lastly, moving in Chicago can be stressful, and especially so on the North Side thanks to narrow streets and congestion. It made a HUGE difference to work with movers who’ve seen it all, done it all, knowing that anything I view as a problem they’ve probably dealt with a gazillion times already. Bob’s Moving Muscle 4 Hire takes a lot of stress out of moving.

I had a hard time confirming with owner. He was nice but not on top of things. 2 of three guys were good but one was lazy and a terrible driver. It took a long time to do the move as they were tired from a previous job. They are decent for the price but you have to watch them the whole time. It is probably easier to just get a flat rate and a confirmed date from someone else. They also hit one of my neighbors cars during a move.

Bob was very thorough and clear regarding answering all my questions as well as giving me his advice and instructions. This made me feel assured and safe — he wanted to be honest, precise, and realistic about how the job would be done, and you don’t see this often with other big moving companies. His movers were extremely professional and reliable, and the entire process was stress free. The reviewers here are also right about how they don’t overcharge. I used to hire a bigger moving company in the past but I’ll definitely work with Bob again from now on.

I continue to be impressed, amazed and 100% satisfied with Bob and his Movers. They arrive, always, right on time, and the precision and the speed in which they work is unparalleled. They don’t overcharge, and they magically make furniture move in/​out of the house and from room to room in ways that seem impossible. In short — they continue to be THE BEST movers in the City.

These are the movers you want to hire! Bob was prompt in returning our call and provided an extremely reasonable quote. He personally came out to our home to answer questions and provide wardrobe boxes several days in advance. Bob and his crew arrived the day of the move on time and finished the job exactly when estimated. Their attention to detail and care of our possessions was impeccable. The crew was well organized, friendly, respectful, and hard working. They arranged our furniture exactly how we wanted it and placed our boxes neatly, (e.g., they left pathways in our kitchen to make accessible). We could not have asked for a better experience!

Bob and his crew moved us out of our house in Skokie, to our new place 30 miles away in Long Grove. Like others have said — these guys are prompt, professional, courteous and efficient. Our moving costs were MUCH less than expected, mostly because they had us completely moved two hours less than initially estimated.
I would not hesitate to use Bob and his crew again, and I will most definitely recommend him to my friends and family.
