Use this company for a tow and it was a very good experience. Rick, the tow truck driver, was very pleasant and worked efficiently.

A & A is a great shop with very friendly mechanics. Took my truck in for an oil leak and brakes. Very nice and showed me all what needed to be done. I will bring my truck back for future repairs.

A&A replaced my brakes a couple weeks ago. I noticed a clicking noise so I brought it back to be checked out. A&A redid the work without any charge to me and upgraded the type of brakes used. They also offered me a free oil change, car wash, and tire rotation for the next time I brought in my vehicle. My brakes work perfectly now. I really appreciate the great customer service. Thank you!

Went to A&A Auto Repair today for my oil change and it was a good experience. The shop is very clean and appears to have newer lifts. I walked in a little after 8 am to get my oil change and I was supposedly third in line. Apparently the two person in line had dropped off their car, so they took my car immediately! I was very happy! :)
They got me in and out within 30 mins. They even let me walk around my car to check the underside (probably something good to do). To me they were very friendly and I appreciated that.
FYI — they huge Havoline Oil with Champ filters. Not my preferred but it is what it is. Plus i work for Chevron so got to use their product sometimes :)
Lastly, i did use their coupon that they offered in the mail but it’s only good for 5 quarts. My car takes 6.5 quarts + i have a cartridge filter. So those were extra. Paid a little $ 30 more than I had expected but it’s still the ballpark that I had expected.

My car had a fuel leak from a fuel feed tube cut. I towed my vehicle to this shop as per AAA towing company advice. They have mentioned to me that this shop has top of the ine equipment and gives 10% discount on parts and labor. The estimate for the repair was high. Do not want to take the risk going to another shop. I have paid 90 $ inspection fee and I towed my vehicle again to Dublin Honda. I got the repair done for less. The whole experience was really tiresome for me and my family.

Wanted to get some work done but got an attitude instead. Needless to say, I’m going elsewhere.

So irritated with A&A Auto! I got an oil change about 2 – 3 weeks ago, and I happened to have a warranty inspection on my car. After my inspection, Hyundai wrote a report stating that I should get my oil filter changed where I got my oil changed because they put an «after market filter» that is causing my oil to leak. I gave the report to A&A, and left. Literally 15 minutes later I got a phone call lasting 23 seconds saying «I have your car in the air, and it’s not leaking oil. It has some risidule oil from the last time I changed your oil, but its not leaking. I’m going to change the filter just to apease you, but I’m letting you know it’s not leaking because of my work. Bye» Then hung up on my face. I ALWAYS brought my car here, because they were friendly and convinient but they sure fooled me. NEVER AGAIN will I bring my car here.

Very happy with the service we received here. We were in the auto parts store next door and I decided to go and speak with A&A about some repairs my car needed. I hadn’t checked them out on Unilocal like I usually do … but I really like Alberto and felt he quoted me a very reasonable price for what I was asking for. We brought the car in the next day and AJ was there. He and Alberto had spoken about the job so he was expecting us, which was nice. They did the work, finished it the same day (even though I brought it in later than I said I would!) and charged me exactly the price that was on the quote, to the penny. And they were professional and personable. Can’t beat that.

I did some DIY to my 2015 Honda Civic SI and I have messed a few things up and everytime AJ has been great in helping fix it. This shop is great with anything I have needed including repairs, oil changes, and maintenance service (previously worked on my 2007 Honda Civic SI).
AJ always goes the extra mile and if he can’t get something done he recommends another shop he knows. AJ provides the full service solution and I will continue taking my cars there.

Shoddy work! Shoddy Equipment! Shoddy People!!!
Not even 6 months after getting my alternator replaced by A & A it is completely dysfunctional!!! Not just that, but after having my engine looked at by several professionals all of whom said it was the alternator that was the source of the terrible sound my car was making I took it back to A & A for them to honor their warranty and replace it. They did a diagnostic and said it was not the alternator. I knew this was a lie and so took it to a real AAA approved shop who said the internal mechanisms were completely eroded and malfunctioning, and the car was dangerous to drive.
Long story short, in my opinion A & A, 1) replaced my alternator when I may not have even needed it or caused another handful of problems for me by doing a sloppy job (see previous review) 2) treated me very unprofessionally when confronted with their subpar work 3) installed a part that did not last more than 6 months, and, 4) lied to me about the diagnostics or were so sloppy that they overlooked an obvious issue with the alternator, thus endangering my life or others.
This is only my 2^nd Unilocal review, but I am so shocked and angry by this experience and their lack of professionalism and ability that I feel others should be warned.
P. S. After diagnostics from the other AAA shop they said that my previous issue was most likely caused by A & A.

Total Trustworthy family owned business, A J took our car on short notice and completed the repairs more reasonable than any shop around, It took a little lon
ger than expected and he offered to take an additional percentage off the bill? (NO ONE DOES THAT). We have been there a couple times and always get great service, Its sure comforting to know there is a place thats honest and fair priced. Well worth your time to have them look at any problems your car may have.

Very helpful, friendly staff. Worked on my car, kept me informed of progress, and got me back on the road. They didn’t feel 100% certain they had fixed the root cause of my problem, so they didn’t charge me, even though the car is running fine now. I highly recommend A & A Auto Repair.

I brought my car in for repair and had a great experience. The necessary work, the parts need and cost were explained to me in detail. The repair was completed on a timely basis. The entire staff is friendly and polite. I highly recommend A&A Auto Repair.

I cannot speak to A&A’s repairs, because they did not repair my vehicle. I can however speak to their professionalism and integrity, and in my opinion, these are values that are often sorely lacking when dealing with auto repair companies. I had the occasion to become aware of them when my car broke down in San Ramon and I called AAA. Shockingly, within about 10 minutes the tow truck arrived. The driver (unfortunately I did not get his name) was extremely empathetic about my situation and not only did he take care of getting my car to the shop but agreed to drop me off nearby at a friend’s place. When I spoke to the repair shop the next day, they assured me they were doing everything they could to diagnose the problem; they even spoke to my mechanic to troubleshoot! Unfortunately, they could not get the car to replicate the problem I had with it, but to their credit, they did not try to sell me on unnecessary or costly repairs. In addition, they agreed to keep the car in a secure place for several days as I was out of town. They did not charge me any storage fees even though storage fees of $ 85 per day are clearly posted in their office. And over the course of the several days they had the car, they continued to troubleshoot and diagnose my problem, probably spending several hours over the course of three days trying to diagnose what was wrong with my car. (My Mercedes-​certified mechanic was also unable to diagnose or replicate the problem as well.) And when I went in to pick the car up the diagnostic fee I was told I would be charged ($ 90) which i willingly agreed to in writing in advance, was lowered to $ 75! I don’t live in San Ramon, but if ever I was in need of a mechanic there, I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my car to A&A or to recommend them to others needing their services. These guys are honest, sincere and professional.

I guess you can’t leave less than 1 star? Where do I begin?

This business is a SCAMMER, who advertises they are «AAA Approved Auto Repair» but after speaking to AAA, they are NOT LISTED with AAA at either location.
A&A Auto IS FALSELY ADVERTISING themselves as AAA approved.
AJ gave me an estimate to do a job, then attempted to increase the labor requirements on a one hour job by 2 hours, even though I had a written estimate and they had seen my car before the work began. And when I argued and eventually even OFFERED to pay HALF of the difference, the manager (AJ) refused to do the work!
Blame should be shared by North Main Tow of Martinez, a AAA tow service who gave me a printed advertisement on slick paper offering 10% off and clearly containing the AAA logo stating they were approved!
Complaint lodged with AAA who will be investigating. Next stop for me? CA State Bureau of Auto Repair. This ain’t over… this 23year member of AAA is NOT done with this bullshit!!!

Aviod like the plague! Crooked liars!
My girlfriend and I purchased a promotional coupon from this business from a person they hired to outsource promotional sales. It was valid until 2015. We needed a refund for the coupon because her car required a specific type of synthetic oil other than what the promotion was for. She called the company and explianed what had happened and they seemed very supportive and expressed genuine concern and stated that they WOULD get the money refunded to her.
Days go by, not a word. We call again. They NOW say that that offer is no longer valid and that they wouldnt even honor it anyway. They gave an address to write a «letter» to ask for a refund from the person they hired to sell the coupons… (a letter? Get real, thats like sending a letter to santa clause) We called this person repeatedly with no answer or return call.
I called the business again in search for the owner or manager that could provide me with more information and help. I was convinced that this was some sort of mistake and they would take care of us. Not the case…
Another week goes by no return calls. I called AGAIN, and spoke with a woman who claimed to be the manager. She said that she was «busy» and couldnt return my call for over a week. She said she didn’t authorize the sale of that promotion and she would take no legal responsibility for it. I then asked for help pursuing the party they hired to represent their business if in fact that was the truth and again they gave me an address to write a letter to to ask for a refund. What a joke.
I am now filing a compliant with department of consumer affairs and leaving this review here to help warn other people in hopes that they dont get swindled by these people. Frankly they are rude, unprofessional snakes.

This place is terrible! The people are friendly and nice but the owner is a bandit who tried to charge me a 600% mark-​up on a fuel pump and filter on my BMW X5. First of all, my car died on the freeway so I called AAA and they recommended this place. They performed an inspection on my car and gave me a list of things wrong with it but said that there was an evap leak so I needed to replace the gas cap, which I did for $ 255!!! This did include an inspection. I left the shop with my car and it broken down after two blocks. I called them back, they sent a mechanic and he had my car towed back to the shop. 4-​hours later I get a call that I need a new fuel pump and fillter. The estimate for this was $ 1,390. I called BMW to get an estimate and the fuel pump was only $ 252 and labor $ 200 so of course, I took my car to BMW for repair. Turns out, it only needed a fuel filter, which was an $ 89 part.
Unless you have money to toss out the window — do not use this place! They’re mark-​up on parts is ridiculous and $ 125/​hr laborr rate is also a bit high.

I never write reviews, but I literally had to sign up with Unilocal just to write this review because it was that good! So, late afternoon, sometime last month, my car broke down in the middle of the parking lot. I had no clue what to do and so I called a friend of mine AND thank God she referred me to AJ @ A&A! Once I got to the shop, AJ, which I believe is the owner, was very honest and extremely patient. I know almost nothing about cars, but he was kind and generous enough to explain the problem with my vehicle and what was needed to resolve the problem. He was ultra thorough, service is fast and I have not had any problems since the repair. Definitely recommend this place!

So after my tire blowout, they towed the car to A&A repair. They did a «FULL diagnostic» assessment and found that there was damage to the front wheel, fender and electrical wiring on the car.
They fixed it. Charged about $ 1500. The parts did not cost a lot but the labor was ridiculous. As I drove my car off the lot, I noticed it making this weird LOUD noise when it’s idle and at the beginning of my acceleration. I asked the mechanic about it and he gave me a shrug and said «I don’t know». When someone fixes your car and says that to you, it makes you feel uneasy…
When I took the car back, it felt really shakey and unstable. It didn’t make that noise at all before the accident. Also, all of a sudden the latch in my car won’t pop the hood. Dropped it off again and they reassessed it and said it would cost about another $ 1000 to fix… They told me that all those parts that needed to be fixed were «wear and tear» issues. New problems that were unrelated to the accident out of nowhere? Something feels really fishy. I don’t know a lot about cars but I’m kind of suspecting that they swapped some parts… If they did a «FULL diagnostic» why didn’t they catch that in the first place?

To simple sum up my experience. Two years ago, they did a timing belt, head gasket, water pump, etc. repair at a cost of close to 3k. and now, 20k miles later, the head gasket is failing and has to be replaced.
I’ve talked to a bunch of different mechanics and they all agree the whoever did the work put in a cheap quality head gasket. The massive markup on the item in the bill hid this fact,
Two statements sum up my experience.
1) Massive markup on parts
2) I have to have another mechanic repeat the work because of the low quality part used.
Terrible mechanics who should not be trusted with your car.
