I was a bit hesitant at first going to a new salon because I’ve had the same hairdresser for 7 years but I’m definitely glad I gave Cosmic Beauty a try. Ame is absolutely amazing and I’ll never go to another person on the island. She has taken my dark brown/​red hair and has turned it a beautiful blonde (of course not in one session) it’s a process but I look forward to seeing her each time I’m due for a color/​touch up. She has a great personality and is such a joy to be around. Can’t wait to see you again Ame! :)

It’s been a while since I’ve gotten my eyebrows waxed and I was really hesistant to get them done (blame it on horrible past experiences). Finally, I decided to schedule an appointment and let me just say my eyebrows came out better than I expected. LANDACE did such an amazing job and she knows what she’s doing. So if you need your eyebrows waxed, book with Landace. You won’t regret it, I definitely didn’t!

Really awesome service, went in with a friend, employees were very attentive, asking us if we’d like water while we wait. Vivian did my nails, and she was awesome, took her time. She was very meticulous. She was also very friendly lol. Definitely going to ask for her next time I come back.

I was referred to this place a Woman who works there named Amee and this place is amazing. Since I’ve been going here for about 6 months my wife got her hair done here for our wedding. I go here at least twice a month to get a shave and fade by Isiah who does an amazing job. I can’t think of anywhere that I can get a shave and the best fade I’ve gotten on the island for just $ 30 bucks. If you’re looking for a dope fade, pedicure, manicure, woman’s haircut or even a wax for man or woman this is the place. It’s clean, has an amazing team of employees and reasonably priced. I love the atmosphere this place provides for its costumers. The staff is great but I love Landace in particular. When I first started coming to her my eyebrows were a mess I was going from salon to salon trying to find a decent esthetician. She worked miracles on them and I love how it looks now. You can tell she really knows what she is doing and puts great effort into it. Overall super satisfied and happy costumer.

This is my third time here and I cannot be any happier!!! Landace does an amazing job on my eyebrows.

She was amazing. I was a bit uncomfortable at first (not her fault, I’m always like that when I go to new places) but, as we began talking it came to be the best experience ever. She is very kind and informative. She helped me to appreciate the thickness of my eyebrows. I initially told her I wanted it thin, but she convinced me otherwise. And when I saw how she shaped them afterwards, I couldn’t be happier. After waxing my eyebrows, she filled them in for me too! :D Unfortunately, it seems the people I use to go to before, took too much from the top, so Landice recommended me to let them fill in.
On to the lip waxing; it was my first ever! And she didn’t lie to me and say it wasn’t going to be painful, XD but if I can handle the brows, I should be able to handle this, I told myself: P and I was right. It hurt a bit more than the brows, but much quicker (two swipes). Having not done it before, I can now say I like it: D no more ladystache.
Cosmic Beauty in general:
Clean and beautiful. I adore their ball chandelier in the front entrance and the comfort of the private rooms: the bed was comfortable and the music, soothing. And to me it didn’t smell of chemicals as some other places do. And the staff was friendly: D
Side note: Landice did a little extra by removing a black head for me XD ugh. Thank you for that. :)
Anyways, she’s great, the shop is beautiful and the staff, friendly. I would highly recommend it here and to get Landice if you want a waxing done, especially if you’d like to keep your eyebrows thick.

I’ve put off writing this review for a while, but I recently went to a great new hair salon that made me extra angry with all the experiences I had at this one.
My natural hair color is dark brown, and about a year ago I came in to lighten it to a caramel-​ish color. Because my hair is so dark, I was told I most likely won’t be able to get it to as light as I want in one session (I believe they said going from an 8 to a 2 is too drastic, but I could be remembering wrong). I said that’s fine, and we went on with my appointment. 40 minutes later I’m platinum blonde. First of all, what happened to light caramel being too drastic? Second, what damage is this going to do to my hair? Because I didn’t want to stay platinum blonde. My hair stylist ended up giving me the color I wanted in the end, which I was thankful for (after having to sit through some painful chemicals). I didn’t say anything about the experience, seeing as I had been here a couple times before and they were fantastic (and their customer service, stylists, and manager were, and still are AMAZINGLY nice). It wasn’t until I got home that I noticed the roots of my hair by both sides of my ear were still platinum blonde. They were extremely sorry, and very quick to correct it. My hair stylist came in early just so he could correct it.
A few months later, I decided to give them another chance because I love the people and the feel of the salon. This time I really was going blonde. I’ll spare all the nitty-​gritty detail, but I went home that day with scabs on my head. The bleach or whatever product used on my head was way too harsh, and my head bled for a good week, and chunks of my hair would fall out too. I called to complain, and they gave me a full refund, and we’re really apologetic. They even told me to come in so they could give me products that would remedy my hair/​head, but at that point I just didn’t want to step foot in there again.
I’m giving 3 stars because they’re good for haircuts and waxing, but I would give 0 stars for hair dyeing. Their customer service and ambiance is so great, I wish I could rely on them to be the ones to do my hair coloring as well, but I guess I’ll have to go elsewhere.

Thank you Landace for doing such an amazing eyebrow waxing on my daughter. She absolutely loves them and now she’s ready for her school dance that is coming up. Thank you for taking the time to explain everything. This was my daughters first brow wax and she was very nervous but you gained her trust within the first minute. The «teen» eyebrow wax you suggested was exactly what she wanted.
I highly recommend Landace for anyone thinking about having any type of waxing. From what I experienced and from what I hear from other clients, she is simply awesome.

Ame!!! She is AMAZING… so sweet and easy to talk to, informative, and a magician with hair. She definitely exceeded my expectations and I’m so glad I found my forever stylist that is also so close to home.

Mona the Marvelous :-D Remember this name, Ladies & Gentlemen. Mona moves beyond stylist and into unique artistry. I have been going exclusively to her for a year now and each time am left with a feeling that is so special. She is a rocking chick (when you meet her there is no telling what color her hair will be). One thing is sure: her nails will be flawless and you will wonder how so much style exists in such a tiny package! She will listen to you *really listen. Afterwards, you just let her create the magic. Trust that she will expose a fierceness in you that you never knew existed. Every single time I leave her, I am recharged and receive so many compliments *even from people on the street. She is a people-​person and has a really nice energy, so make the trip to Kapolei and treat yourself!

They do hair, nails, make-​up. I loved my second experience here! I got an ombré-​balayage from stylist Jason.
I definitely will plan to come back again for hair styling. My first experience was for a pedicure and it was amazing also, but I think I can manage my own nails better than hair. Beautiful and cozy atmosphere. Wi-​Fi. Friendly customer service. Loved the outside patio! I was a little worried when I got there for my hair appointment, thinking my hubby and baby would have to wait somewhere else because I was afraid of the dangerous fumes inside but luckily there was a cool and shady patio.

I went to Ame to capture a new look I wanted to try with my hair using color. She nailed it. This lady is such a pro. My result was beautiful. I did a balayage and it just keeps looking better and better. Now, Richie. She does the best Brazilians and eyebrow shaping.
I’ve had a few different waxers over the years and she is the best all around. Professional, quick, less pain, quality wax. I drive here from Aina Haina to see these ladies! Keep doing what you do, girls!

The staff are friendly and the salon is always clean.
When it comes to waxing from head to toe I recommend Richi. If you want eyebrows that look amazing and are even come to Kapolei its definitely worth the drive. Eyebrows are on your face and the first thing people look at behinds your eyes.
As for the wax… It’s amazing! Until I started going here I thought all wax was made equally and boy was I wrong! The quality of wax Richi uses is so good! there is significantly less pain than the traditional waxes other salons use. And I notice my hair goes slower.

This was my first time at this salon (Also my first time ever writing a review) I came in around 10:30am and was surprised at all of the products they had as soon as you stepped in the door. I checked in at the desk for a mani pedi and the lady there told me it should be a 15 minute wait. I waited 25, which isn’t a big deal to me. I then get led to the back where I’m sat down for my pedicure. I then wait another 15 minutes with my feet soaking in the basin before someone comes to assist me.
I brought my own nail polish and was super excited to finally relax and get my nails done. The woman doing my nails starts to scrub the bottoms of my feet where there had been lots of dead skin, but still doesn’t take all of it off. Now usually when I get my feet done at any other place they scrape/​peel the excess skin off with a peeler type tool. Now maybe they just don’t provide that service here but still, much more could have came off if she continued scrubbing. After that she starts to cut my nails, and I didn’t notice until after she had painted them that they all seemed to be different sizes/​lengths. Not too extreme but obvious to the person getting their nails done. Also while painting my nails, she couldn’t seem too keep the polish off of my skin. Even after she used the polish remover to clean it up there was still some left over!
Now it’s time for my manicure and she mentions that I have some hang nails, but at the end of the manicure I notice that there is still some left over. Not only that but she cut/​filed my pointer fingers into different lengths/​shapes. On top of that, some nails weren’t evenly coated with nail polish and I could see through the color!
Now most of the time, I would blame a bad mani/​pedi on being rushed, but that wasn’t the case here, by the time she started doing my manicure there was almost no one in there, so she could have taken her time to go over the work she did on my nails. She then leaves me to let my nails dry and never returns. I always intend on tipping even when my service isn’t all that great, because I understand the struggle. Yet, when I paid for my service she was still no where to be found, and missed out on her tip.
Lastly id like to point out the price difference on their mani/​pedi on their website and brochure. You guys really need to fix that. False advertisement is never a good thing. And I truly wish I didn’t have to write so harshly about my service here.

I’ve been to 4 different salons, trying to find a place where I can finally feel satisfied enough for me to keep going back and I’m pretty sure that after today, I finally found it! I did forget the name of the lady that did my nails, but I do remember the lady that waxed me, which is richi, she was so friendly, she did such an amazing job at saving my horrible eyebrows. Overall, I’m really happy that i decided to head to cosmic beauty today :)

One of my major concerns whenever I relocate for my job is who do I go to for my hair needs. My regular stylist, Thao Tiet is located in Costa Mesa, California (see my review for her at her previous location at Salon Rouge, she now owns Hair Society CM)
Good thing for me is that the hair stylist community is rather small and a lot of the stylists know one another. Thao recommended that I check out Am’e, they’ve been following one another via Instagram for quite some time. I looked at her work and decided to give her a try and I’m so glad I did!
Cosmic Beauty is located in Kapolei, so it’s a bit far outside of «town», which is about a 30 – 40 min drive away from Honolulu. The drive actually wasn’t so bad for this California native :)
The salon is super clean and beautifully decorated! There’s a barbershop section, small nail salon and Am’e’s station is in the cutest little room.
I love Am’e! I kind of didn’t want to do a review yet, in fear of it making it difficult for me to book her when I need (haha). But, she’s too awesome and deserves a good Unilocal review.
She’s very knowledgeable about not just hair, but a lot of things (she had a lot of awesome wedding ideas to share with me). Back to the hair review… She knew exactly what I wanted and I loved that she gave me her honest opinions on whether the color or cut suited me. I appreciate that she does not try to push you to buy products. She does introduce you to her favorite ones and I always walk away with purchasing at least one thing. One drawback for me was the salon does charge quite a lot for their services and products, I tend to spend at least $ 300 every time I go.
Also, while my fiancé waited for me, he decided to give their barber a try and he was pleasantly surprised! So fellas, be sure to book an appointment!

I walked away from my pedicure appointment thinking about this quote: «Nobody makes me bleed my own blood! Nobody!» — White Goodman from the movie, «Dodgeball»
I got an appointment for myself and my friend to get pedicures at Cosmic Beauty. I checked Unilocal and their website and saw that they were going to close in almost an hour so when I called I was ready to get rejected on the phone but surprisingly they said they could take us. When we arrived, we were taken to the back room. This was my first visit here so I was impressed with the backroom set-​up with the manicure stations on the left and the pedicure chairs on the right. There were nice chandeliers hanging from the ceiling that looked like planets with rings around them. After we chose our nail polish colors, we got right into the chairs that were already prepped and the foot basin was filled with water. I had a male worker do my pedicure while my friend had a female. The male got right to it with removing my old nail polish. One thing I learned about removing glittery nail polish is you should soak a cotton ball with nail polish remover and then just wrap the toenails up in the soaked cotton and maybe some foil to keep it tight so that after it soaked it would be easier to remove the glitter. My pedicurist was pretty much scrubbing my toenail very vigorously to get the glitter off and it was not easy for me to keep having my toes yanked around that whole time. I think I even felt a joint pop. When it came to clipping my nails, that’s when White Goodman’s words popped up in my head because the worker clipped my nails so close to the skin that I saw my big toe bright red where he cut me! Then, more pain ensued when he started scraping out the gunk from under my toes. I seriously was appalled that it happened, but I didn’t make a complaint because it’s happened to me before at other salons so I knew I wasn’t going to die, yet I was fearful that if they did not sanitize their equipment and tools properly that it might get infected. Luckily, as I write this review my toe is fine and has healed after maybe a couple days of slight pain from the site where it was cut. I guess the worker didn’t even realize, «Hey, I just made a boo boo on this girl’s big toe,» because he didn’t stop or apologize. This guy was on automatic mode and maybe rushing the job since I was the last pedicure for him before the place closed. Pretty much everything else was rushed with the lotion massage and the polishing my nails with another glittery polish. Even though I got cut during the pedicure, I still tipped him at least 15% because this’ll be the last time I come here so you might as well get a tip.
My friend however loved her pedicure with the female worker she had and even asked for the lady’s name before we left so she can schedule another pedicure with the same lady. I noticed while the male worker was working on my feet, the female worker kept looking over at what he was doing because she was probably two steps behind what he was doing since he was rushing with me. I would have preferred to have her do my nails because she took her time and she even asked my friend if something was okay. My pedicurist barely said anything to me besides to tell me when to put my feet back in and back out of the basin.
When we got outside my friend said, «I can tell you’re not going to come back here again.» And I won’t. Because nobody makes me bleed my own blood. Nobody.

I used to have to book an appt every month when I used to go to a different salon, cause they never lasted me more than a month. But ever since Ive been seeing Tom, I save myself money cause each time he does my nails, they last me for TWO months!!! Anywhos, I made an appt two weeks in advance to see Tom for my bi-​monthly treat to myself since I was in need of getting my nails done. Unfortunately, the morning of my appt, Landace/​Landis (Im sorry, idk how to spell her name) called me to let me know that Tom wasnt in that day & asked if I wanted to either reschedule for another day or suggested two other techs that were available that day. After looking on Unilocal for the work of those two techs, I called the salon back & told them Id go with Vivian since that was one of the two that were available.
I walked into the salon a tad bit disappointed cause Tom is usually my go-​to guy but there was nothing that I could do & my nails really needed to be cut anyways. There was a small wait, but the nail section wasnt as busy as it usually is. I went ahead and picked out the color for my ties & was quickly serviced by Vivian. Ive always seen her in the salon but never knew her name, but shes a very sweet lady! Immediately started some small talk with me to make me feel comfortable & the receptions were nice enough to go to each customer and offer some water.
My toes were done great, and the foot/​leg massage Vivian gave was heavenly!!! She got to one specific part near my knee area & idk what she did, but she most def hit the spot!!! Like, literally had my eyes roll back kind of hit the spot! Hahah. Then it was off to do my manicure. Showed Vivian a picture of what I wanted, found the color that was nearest to the color I had on my toes & she started her business. My nails were shaped PERFECTLY & I say that cause one of my nails grows kinda crooked but she made it look so good! Vivian came spot on with my design as well, I LOVED the result!!! And the massage fr my hands and forearms hit the spot as well. Idk what it is, but Vivian has the magic touch or something.
Although Tom wasnt available today like I originally planned, Vivian was most def a blessing in disguise! My appts will now be booked with either Tom or Vivian cause Julie’s always booked but I promise that one day, I WILL get Julie!!!

I kind of just stumbled across this place while going grocery shopping and I’m so glad I did. They use LCN products for manicures and pedicures which I love since it’s a more eco-​friendly and odor free brand. The prices are cheap but the service isn’t. I was very happy with both my gel polish manicure and pedicure, they were quick but I still felt pampered. Their retail area is pretty great too, they carry products like Mixed Chicks that I can hardly ever find, and when I do, it’s pricey.
