Frenchman’s Cafe

This is my second time in this charming place, I enjoy the Salad Nicoise and the coffee.
The location is wonderful. The last time I was in there was a super friendly excellent waiter, this time the service did not compare.

Loved this café!
The food is exception and authentic French cuisine. You will not be disappointed and more than likely surprised with the quality, plating, and taste. The food came quickly and each dish was its own work of art. This is a must stop in my opinion as you have likely never experienced a café with food this exception for such a low price.
Atmosphere: very casual. Feel free to go in shorts and flip flops.
Size: Small strip location with about 5 tables inside and 2 – 3 tables out front which seat 3 – 4 people each.
Food: Crepes are their specialty (both sweet and savory). Sandwiches and a few other lunch/​brunch type items with specialty coffees available.
Service: Excellent! Over the counter ordering with table side delivery.

Authentic French-​owned café. The staff was very friendly and the crepes were excellent. We really enjoyed our visit.

Wonderful breakfast spot worth the hunt to find off the main drag. Limited seating but wait if you have to.

What a great little French place. Every time when I go to a French restaurant, I must get a Croque Madame. I love the sunny side up egg over, cheese, bread and ham. I always hold the sauce because it just makes my sandwich all soggy and it takes away from the taste ham and cheese.
We ordered the following:
Croque Madam ($ 10.50): My favorite! I love the egg, ham and the gooey cheese!
Side of 4 pieces of ham and 4 pieces of bacon ($ 5): it wasn’t on the menu so it was nice that we were able to order this for our kids.
Cordon Blu Galette: ($ 12): Marinated chicken, ham and Mozzarella. My husband loved it. it was very light with tons of flavor. I especially loved the crispy ham topping.
We’re looking forward to going again really soon.

Very friendly service. Presentation of the food was also very impressive. The food itself was excellent too. We ordered the Croque Madame and the French Caribbean crêpe. Both were well worth it. It’s small and slightly off the main road, almost hard to find, but very worth it when you do. I recommend it for a great brunch spot.

This truly is a hole in the wall. Located just behind alli drive, you enter into simplistic very well decorated by husband and wife who are from France and show that they care and love what they do. All of their dishes are to die for!

Had a real coffee here. Loved it. Might be the only place on the island to get a real, European-​style cup of coffee.

This place was so good I had to leave a review. The servings were more than enough and the vibe of the shop made you feel relaxed. Their inlets were fluffy as well as delicious. I loved the side salad with the homemade vinaigrette. The crepes were also larger than I originally thought. I hope more people learn about this place.

We were here two times… first time we ordered Croque Madame served with grill cheese ham and fry egg on top served with potatoes salad.
The second time we came we order Machiato and Omelet with herbs union mushroom served with fresh salad… very delicious good portion and healthy.

I have been to Frenchman’s Café twice and I highly recommend it!
Today we had the Parisian crêpe, the Monte Carlo crêpe and the French Polynesian crêpe (sweet). The Monte Carlo is my favorite. This is a very pleasant café to have a delicious French lunch in downtown Kona. Flo and Gil have a nice place here, please come and try it.

Wow, an absolutely amazing and delicious café! The café itself is so well put together and I love how clean and inviting the whole café is. The owners are from France and they are always very inviting and pleasant when my boyfriend and I come.
The two types of crepes (Normandy and Helene) we’ve tried are so delicious that you don’t really talk much while eating because you’re enjoying the food so much. The portions for the sweet crepes are large so I recommend sharing it. The sandwich we tried is a decent size (not too small and not too large) but the salad with the sandwich is small but very full of flavor. Definitely try the homemade vinaigrette on the table.
Location is tricky to find but if you know where the sunglass hut is off Alii drive, then you see a bright pink tattoo shop then you’re going the correct way.
This place is a must try if you are in Kona and they’re open for breakfast and lunch only.

Before we got here I thought «5 stars for a small café that serves crepes and sandwiches?»
I am not even a crepes person but the reviews intrigued me and it sounded healthy. It is a small, very clean café a bit hard to find from the street but it’s in the middle left — from the street — of the outdoor walkway in Kona Market. Just a few tables inside and out. Lovely couple that runs it. You will likely have to pay to park around back…
Food — wow, wow, wow. I had the Brunch Special which has bacon and cheese topped with a scrambled egg patty. The scrambled egg party was a perfect scrambled egg consistency and very tasty — I asked how they do that and the wife said by adding cream — I don’t know, some magic going on here ! It Had a quinoa salad side which was great too with homemade vinaigrette! Wife had the Countryside which had bacon, mushrooms, pecans and cheese; Same Quinoa side. It was awesome too!

Oh my goodness! I had been wanting to try this place forever and finally did this morning and so glad I did.
First of all, it’s easy to miss this place unless you are walking along on Ali’i Drive. It’s tucked away in a tiny strip mall called the Kona Marketplace. Make sure you don’t miss this place. There’s free parking a block away by the farmers market across from Bubba Gumps.
The ambience is definitely French. The owners are from France and so delightful. The husband is the chef and he sings while he prepares your food. My BFF said all that signing was putting love into our food. LOL
My BFF and I got the country side galete and it was soooo delish! The BF got an omelete that he really enjoyed. They all came with a side of Quinoa which was refreshingly delightful. They suggest you use their homemade vinegarette that’s on every table. The Galete’s were made with organic buckwheat flour and super tasty. The wife is the one who takes your order and helps serve your food. The husband/​chef/​owner actually served one our dishes! They were both so hospitable and attentive.
Definitely check this place out for a healthy, light, delightful foodie experience.
