Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kailua-Kona

This property is one of the best I have stayed in. Friendly accommodating staff. Property Manager Chris is awesome. We stayed for 3 days and we’re treated like royalty. Will stay here from now on when in Kona. Wonderful pool and Hot Tub. Great breakfast.

As Muriel (aka Muriel’s Wedding) would say ‘what a fantastic surprise’. This modern hotel boasts spacious, clean and modern rooms, a great pool and friendly staff. Afterall, a warm reception is just the beginning. Best of all, the location cannot be beat. Minutes from the beach and the main drag. You’ll be rolling with your homies in no time. The façade of the hotel on the website looks a little motel, but be assured this is a an awesome hotel.

I would give 5 stars but they allow smoking right by the front door… They have an open window right near the entrance which means… Cigarette smoke smell drifting in the lobby.

I actually miss That hotel Im in hilo now staying at the castle hotel and is is horrible compared to the express. Employees were smiling there their amenities were much better free breakfast free Wi-​Fi absolutely wonderful!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn for one night since our hotel didn’t have availability for the one night. All I have to say is (without mentioning the 4-​star hotel), is that we missed the Holiday Inn: (
The hospitality we received from DORA upon arrival was exceptional. She was very kind and accommodating to say the least. The room was fantastic– the breakfast was perfect for my husband, myself and our 11 month old. Everything was perfect– we even decided that we would try to stay there again and give up the 4 star hotel for the next time. :)

I wouldn’t have asked for better service. Arielle assisted me with my check in and did a superb job.
I flew into Kona to assist with one of our outer island offices. Unfortunately, the day I flew into Kona the cell towers decided to go down within an hour of being there. No cell service, GPS… NOTHING. Me not being from Kona, having only spent 8 hours on the island (3 hours in an office and 5 at HELCO), no map /​cell service and on top of all of that, bank cards weren’t processing as well. I had $ 80 cash and a stressful day. Arielle thankfully called her manager after hours and they settled to hold the $ 80 until morning (to ensure that the room wasn’t damaged). THANK GOD! I called the manager the following morning to express how happy I was with Arielle’s customer service.
Their hospitality and customer service was beyond anything I ever expected. If I ever decide to visit Kona again, I’ll defiantly check in at the Holiday Inn.

Very nice stay at IHG last night. Late arrival, the staff was very courteous and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I will definitely stay here each time I visit Kona Kailua!

We stayed here 5 nights while in Kona. This hotel is very new, so everything is up to date and working. The staff are what makes this place (shoutout to Dora at the front desk)!

We got a third floor mountain-​side room, and despite the non existent views enjoyed the room very much for its space and free WiFi. The front desk staff was very nice, but like mentioned in other reviews the breakfast staff was very rude acting almost entitled just because they were «local». Other than that I felt at home from the friendly front desk and fellow hotel guests!

We were fortunate to get rooms on an extremely busy weekend. It was a little pricey but we were very familiar with Holiday Inn Express brand and willing to pay. Enjoyed a comfortable room that was clean. Although we were on a non-​smoking floor it was apparent someone on the floor was smoking.
Housekeeping was friendly. Always greeted us in the hallways and throughout the property.
Dora at the front desk helped us out and was very friendly and efficient.
Loved the breakfast, full of variety and always fresh/​replenished items. Will be back again.

We spent 9 nights at the HI Kailua– Kona Dec./14 into Jan./15. So happy to see
a Holiday Inn on Westside Big Island, we felt every much at home! We enjoyed a
large, very well appointed room that was extremely quiet. Chris and his staff did a
