What we do at Honua Therapy is to offer a truer form of traditional massages from around the world emphasizing quality massage and facials at a reasonable price. Specializing in traditional hot stone lomi lomi, custom massages and facials, we offer a quaint and private atmosphere perfect for couples. The entire facility is dedicated to each and every single, pair or couples treatment in order to provide specific one on one attention and care.

Honua Therapy treatments incorporate disciplines, philosophies and sensibilities of Hawaii, Japan, Thailand, China, and India. World massages are designed for overall relaxation and therapy while specialty massages are tailored for specific requests mixing various disciplines to customize treatments according to the customer’s specifications.

History

Established in 2008.

We are a family run boutique spa facility that launched in the midst of witnessing massive lay offs of our therapist friends from other spas. We were inspired to try to provide sustainable work for our therapist friends while getting back on their feet. Starting at a small studio at the Waikiki Grand Hotel until early 2011, our formative beginnings evolved and The Queen Kapiolani Hotel in February 2011 nominated the shop to move into their hotel to provide massage and facial service amenities to their guests. Rather than Spa manuals and procedure based treatments we wanted to provide custom, creative solutions to various problems customers bring to our attention and continue on this mission. In September 2015 we relocated to our current location at the Waikiki Banyan to continue to provide value added treatments in a more ideal and quiet location for people to fully enjoy, relax and unwind.

I have had 6 long Honua massages over a period of two weeks (retreat vacation) and Yuko was just excellent; very detailed, sensitive, highly professional and kind. She could feel my body and helped me to get back to it after super-stressful 2015. I am like new now and definitely would strongly suggest the services. I would recommend a coconut oil as an add-on. The massage place is in a hotel room, but it is decorated with taste, secure, clean and very easy to walk from any area in Waikiki. The massage is definitely worth the money.

The price was unbeatable…
If you care only for a massage and not so much for the ambience or airs of a regular spa… then you can definitely go for this place.

In august 2014 I was in Honolulu for work and needed a massage, but didn’t really have time or budget to do a full spa day outing. I was pleased to find this spot in Waikiki. My massage by Yuko was the perfect solution to work out the kinks and allow me to enjoy the rest of my time on the island. I will definitely return to this spa when I visit Honolulu again.

This is part of the Queen Kapiolani hotel. Taken aback as massage was in a converted hotel room but they really did the best at making the room comfortable.
Honua took me in at last minute. Masseuse was great and used a variety of techniques to work the knots out.

Would actually give 2.75 stars. Was an inconsistent experience. Some things I did like, but a large part of the time I felt as though I understood the concept of what she was trying to do, but couldn’t feel anything. Did nothing to get me out of pain. :(. Additionally, it was overpriced.

For Hawaii it was inexpensive but it was exactly luxurious or a bargain. She knew what she was doing for relaxation but not exactly someone who could get deep knots out, the kind you get from traveling 8 hours on a plane. She was very nice and accommodating. I would consider returning but wouldn’t say I am a loyal customer.

Have been coming here for years– every single time I’m in Honolulu! Yuko is AWESOME– she always gives the BEST massage. Very consistent, very thorough. I’ve had both the Lomi Lomi and the regular Swedish and I recommend paying the $ 10 for the combo of both so you get both light and firmer pressures, and different techniques. Took off one star because they don’t seem to offer any discounts, either for repeat customers or for booking multiple sessions (I will have 2 – 3 massages in the 3 weeks I’m here this time) or even for Mother’s Day. Just about every other place I’ve checked offers some sort of discount. Still the BEST massage I’ve had!

Two Lomi Lomi massages in less than a week? You know its gotta be good. Yuko has magic hands — nuff said. When I first went in, I was tight and her fluid motions helped to break up the tension which sat on my shoulders, neck and lower back. I was lulled into a beautiful much needed rest and I felt completely euphoric leaving. Returned back less than a week later to get my Yuko magic hands fix before headed back to the mainland.

I was in desperate need of a massage and found this place during our baby-moon. Yes, it’s in a hotel room of a crapier hotel, but the service was on fantastic! I got a pregnancy massage and hubby got a neck and back massage. The place is intimate and they have double tables in one room, but said they won’t force people to massage together… rest assured.
I really liked the nice foot soak beforehand too!

This place is located in the hotel on the 3^rd floor… room 310. It is a converted hotel room into a massage room. The massage was good, but I wish she asked about the pressure… she did a good job though without asking me because I do like it hard and she really gave it to me.
The only thing I don’t like about this place is the setup. It is two massage bed in one room and wish I had my own private room. Even though my friend was on the other table, it was just weird to undress in front of someone else and share a room. Maybe this place is good for couples and not sure if it is only one person, the room will only be one person.

If you are looking for a great massage, this is the place to go! It’s located in a hotel room at the end of the 3^rd floor. It’s a little cramped when you walk into the room because they have a table and couple chairs right when you walk in. But once your on the other side of the curtains, it’s more open. It’s dimly lit and there is soothing music playing.
BF and I did a couple’s massage, he got one of the Specialty World Massages, The Honua Therapeutic, and I got a World Massage, the Swedish. It was an amazing 1 hour! Even the bf thought so and it’s hard to find a good massage therapist for him because of all the sports injuries he’s had. At the end, we were given hot cloths which was nice considering this really isn’t a day spa type of facility to go and shower.
Only reason for not giving it 5 stars was the noise. You could hear delivery trucks and carts rolling by. My suggestion would be to ask the massage therapists to turn up the music. But considering this only cost $ 75 for the bf and $ 65 for my treatment, I would definitely come back.

Hey, what better place to get a massage than in paradise after a long hot day in the sun and surf?
This place accommodated me last minute for an 8 pm massage for an hour.
The shiatsu was extremely strong with pressure in all the right places. The pricing is EXTREMELY reasonable — only $ 65 an hour when I went and the masseuse was very good with finding the right spots.
Would recommend if you are staying close by.
