Date Visited: April 28, 2016 Parking: Parking lot is small and I can imagine the lot getting hectic and packed(due to neighboring vendors as well) but we stopped by around 830pm and we found parking easily. Service: AMAZING. We made a phone order 10 – 15 minutes before pick up. The guy who took our phone order was nice, read our order back to us CORRECTLY, and quickly gave us a total. Transaction was flawless. Showed up 15 minutes later, picked up our food, and done! The guy also helped us with the door on the way out. How nice :) Food & Pricing: YUM! We ordered the beef broccoli(soft and tender beef, good portions), honey walnut shrimp(crispy underneath the sauce, so good), salt and pepper shrimp(my boyfriend loved), ginger steamed fish(was SOOOO on point tonight and was our favorite!), and cake noodle with chicken(good portions and tasty as well). Final Verdict: my boyfriend and I have basically designated this as our Chinese take out place from here on out :) nothing better than good and fast service, not to mention supporting smaller/family run restaurants who seem to really appreciate our business.

They have a huge selection for«dinner plates» that come single serving, with rice. I had the beef stew tonight. Beef with ginger and green onions. It came out in a hot pot along with a small bowl of rice. I’m definitely going to come back to try the other items on the menu. They seem to have a lot of the normal dishes that you would expect from a Chinese restaurant, along with some special items. The seating easily accommodates any party size, with an emphasis on individual booths for those that are solo. Edit: Withdrawing one star for some confusion the owner, George, had with my order. I had pointed to the Chinese beef stew on rice entry on the menu for $ 9.50 but was charged and served instead the Beef Stew hot pot $ 10.99 and a side order of rice $ 1.99. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth that I feel he intentionally«upgraded» my order when I had shown him which item I wanted. Not sure how this happened.

Jen and George are always fantastic! My favorite so far is the pork chops! The Stuffed Bitter Melon comes a close second. Yes, parking can be very difficult especially when Sweet Home Café opens so I go kinda early but never disappointed.

Golden eagle is an amazing restaurant. The food was delicious and our waitress was so friendly and sweet. This was without a doubt the best Chinese food I’ve had in my lifetime. Very affordable too! Complete hole in the wall! Go here!

Hmmmmm hmmm! Quick bite before my favorite hot pot??! Yes please!!! My favorite hot pot for the past several years is located right next door to this place. It is heavenly with a touch of long wait time. No matter when you come, you wait!!! During one of those an hour wait, I stumbled in here for a quick bite! A girl can only hold the hunger for so long! And it smells good from outside! So why not?!! Pro: cheap food! Clean spot! Big menu! The chicken was delish! Cake noodles ~ I liked this! Had it with chicken. Hmmmmm! Super tasty!!! orange chicken ~ fried food over load! Not a fan. Garlic chicken & fried rice ~ good. Con: island style service :) Aka very slow! We also had some take out cake noodles but they didn’t taste the same! Of course: after all this food, I went ahead and skipped my hot pot. We were way too full! They had a one big table and one other two top beside us. The big table seems like they were regulars and got a ton of food and great service. Our food took a while to come out. Hence the skipping of the hot pot. If they weren’t so busy, I’m sure the food would’ve came out way faster. The parking lot is small and usually quite busy during meal rush! Come in between hours and perhaps come for lunch! You definitely get a lot for your money here. I’ll be back when I’m in this area again!

Food is ok. Being originally from kalihi, prices are kinda high for what u get. Think they try to cook ‘healthier’ so doesnt stand up to that old school msg chinese food that I luv(& get in kalihi! Hehe!) I understand the healthy thing, but its not like I eat chinese food everyday! When I’m ono for it… I hope for that ono of my youth! Ps: owners are super nice!(big plus) Pss: dont order blackbean shrimp. Only a few tiny shrimp, mostly onions & bellpeppers.

Golden Eagle is Hawaii’s version of the neighborhood coffee shop or diner with good food and great service. I felt like I was among family and the atmosphere was friendly permeated by Jennifer’s terrific personality and sense of humor. «Thanks, Jenny» or «See you later, Jen,» customers said as they departed. While I’ve had tastier soup elsewhere, my Wor Wun Ton Mein was fully loaded with vegetables, delicious wun ton, perfectly cooked noodles, and meaty pieces of char siu. It’s definitely something I would enjoy having again. As for service, Jenny was very attentive when my co-worker spilled her drink, when my water cup was empty and when we needed suggestions on what to eat. All in all, it was an amazingly enjoyable lunch.

They never disappoint me here I’ve never had a bad meal. Of course I ordered my honey walnut shrimp and this time I’m trying the special they have which is the spareribs with black bean sauce for only $ 10.99, it’s onolicious. The prices and portions are terrific and Jennifer’s been here forever knows how to handle any size party at any time. Come stop enjoy you won’t be disappointed except like everywhere good on the island parking sucks.

My family and I came here for dinner one night. We had several dishes and each was so delicious. True Cantonese food with the wok flavor. For dessert, we had the Chinese waffle cookies with black sesame and a hint of coconut. They were so good and so unique that my family and I left with 4 packs of waffle cookies to share with our other family members! You can’t leave this place without buying a pack! Finally, the service was wonderful — the owners were so personable and attentive. Will definitely come again!

Golden Eagle has been our go-to Chinese restaurant for close to ten years. The owners are so kind and friendly and have embraced our family as we grew from a dating couple to now a family of five. They consistently provide top quality, fresh Cantonese style foods at a reasonable price and super speedy. Some of our favorites include their Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp, Steamed fish filet with ginger and onion, Cold ginger chicken just to name a few. We have our old faithful dishes but I wouldn’t hesitate to try anything on the menu because I have that much confidence in them. Parking can be tricky as they share with other popular businesses nearby, but that has never deterred us from dining there. If you’re tired of rude service and subpar food in traditional Chinese restaurants please do yourself a favor and try Golden Eagle. Tell George and Jennifer I sent you!

I was looking for something close by to have dinner. Only an hour before hitting tonight’s entertainment plans wasn’t much time. Looking at options close to home we settled on Golden Eagle. Knowing I would put in a review I timed several points. Got in a 5:00pm and noticed one other customer sitting on the far end on the big round table. Boss man was on the phone. He looked to see who came in the door, saw us, I guess that was his way of acknowledging us. Okay, understandable, bossman is on the phone. Finally approached and said to sit down anywhere. Two other people came in sitting on the big round table. While he was on the phone he acknowledged them and brought them water. We were still waiting for ours. Okay, now I’m feeling not good. Three minutes later, menu and water were brought over. I kept my cool and exchanged courtesies. We immediately saw what we wanted to eat. Mongolian beef for me and roast duck for my lady love. You know how it is at Chinese restaurants, it’s always hard to get their attention. Another two people came in again sitting at the big round table, immediately menus and water brought over. Not once did bossman look at us to check what stage we were in. Then, he was back on the phone again. When the call was over, he came to take our order. Placed it and confirmed we did want rice. One of the reasons I came here reviews claimed dishes were brought out in 2 minutes. I believed it because I’ve been to other restaurants, Chinese too, where that happens. Why not here? It didn’t. It took longer, 7 min. That’s okay, that’s acceptable. First thing out was the roast duck. My lady love did not like it said something is missing. I don’t know what. It tasted fine to me but I wasn’t impressed with it. It was tender and moist, not too salty. Wish the skin was crispier but sorta acceptable for me. It took another 5 minutes for the Mongolian beef to come out. By that time, the duck was almost gone. The beef had an orange color that I have not seen on Mongolian beef before. This color is what I see on orange chicken. It tasted sweet and slightly acidic. The meat was tender easy to eat. The overall taste is good but this is not Mongolian beef. Maybe it’s just me being picky and having a different standard, but… the sauce is traditionally made with hoisin sauce and soy sauce, usually dark soy sauce, and red chili. Other items can be added to it but that’s usually the base. If I was to go on taste alone this could be 5 stars. However, the duck being ordinary and the Mongolian being something else. At this point it is 2 stars but because the food did taste good I bumped it to 3 stars. What mainly brought it down for me is the service. If you’re going to give preferential treatment at all give it to those you don’t know well so they do feel special. No need to preach to your choir. In fact, your regulars are going to be more understanding if you ignore them a bit so let them wait. Hey, works for me. I may visit here again, maybe, but it will not be any time soon. I’ll scout out other similar places first.

Confession: I have a fear of calling Asian restaurants because many times the person on the other end of the line is either rude or even worse, I can’t for the life of me understand what they’re saying. Is it childish of me to avoid Chinese takeout for this reason? Probably. Is this a real fear which has stopped me from enjoying countless dinner options? Affirmative. Is 2015 the year in which I conquer all of my fears and become completely mentally and physically unstoppable? YES!!!(In a passionate Tony Robbin’s style scream) Thankfully as I nervously called Golden Eagle I was greeted by a very pleasant woman who took my order and quite clearly told me it would be ready in just ten minutes. See what happens when you face your fears? They disappear into the ethers of good customer service. Magic I tell you! Our food was ready to go as promised and we happily took it home. I’m going to be honest in saying it wasn’t the best Chinese food I’ve ever had but now looking back on the reviews I probably didn’t order the right dishes. Next time I think I’d go for the honey glazed walnut shrimp to give them a fair chance. On this round we ordered the beef broccoli and minute chicken with crispy cake noodles. I’d say the disappointment of the evening was when I opened the takeout box to discover that the sauce was drizzled all over my crispy cake noodles which were now a soggy mess. This breaks every cardinal rule related to proper Chinese takeout food packaging. Cake noodle and sauce have to live in different containers people!!! I got over my fear of calling in for takeout on this day, but I begrudgingly ate my soggy cake noodles in despair.

«I love Chinese, you love Chinese, we all love Chinese.» Go, and try Golden Eagle Chinese. This hole in the wall Chinese is located in Moiliili across of the old stadium park. There are a limited amount of stalls near the restaurant. If you are not lucky enough to find a stall in the lot, there are street parking within the vicinity. Here’s what I think about my dining experience at Golden Eagle: Atmosphere: Your typical Chinese set-up: round tables for large parties and booths for smaller parties. Service: Awesome, outstanding, friendly! The first Chinese restaurant that I came across with really good service! The owners George and Jennifer(very good friends of my sister in-law Melisa) were at our table side from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out. They were very accommodating and hospitable to our needs as my family celebrated our Christmas party. Food: Yummy, reasonable, good portion sizes and unusual. My family ordered the Golden Eagle special(King’s Feast) for $ 199.99. The feast came with 14 courses. Yes, a whopping 14 course meal. Take a look at our feast: 1. Scallop soup– tasty and comforting. 2. Spring rolls– stuffed with a lot of filling and fried to perfection. 3. Peking duck with buns– soooo good. Duck was nice and crispy. 4. Steamed fish with ginger and onions– subtle and refreshing. 5. Pork belly with taro– one of my favorite. Deep in flavor and textures. Yum. 6. Rice– typical jasmine rice. 7. Clams with black bean sauce– nice large clams drowned in yummy black bean and pepper goodness. 8. Salt and pepper quail– deep fried«just Iike fried chicken» and tasty 9. Tripe with house sauce– tender and good in a nice sauce 10. Lobster with ginger onion sauce– yummy and drenched with a nice rich and refreshing ginger glaze 11. Shrimp asparagus cake noodles– enjoyed the noodles prepared this way with the asparagus. Very different. 12. Seafood casserole– good and nice variety of seafood 13. Frog legs with house sauce– a little hesitant to try it, but I tried it because the presentation looked good. To my surprise, it tasted good. Just like everyone says, «It tasted just like chicken.» 14. Honey glazed walnut shrimp– large and plump pieces cooked in a nice glaze I can’t believe we ate all of that. Whew! That was surly a meal fit for a «King!» It was well worth the experience and price. This was a perfect meal for a family party! We were fed well… we were served well… we were treated well… We were treated and fed just like«ROYALTY!» Loved my experience at… The Golden Eagle! You should try it! You will not be disappointed.

Golden Eagle Chinese Restaurant one of my favorite hole in the wall Chinese restaurants — located in the Moilili area, just across the street from the old Honolulu Stadium park. One things for sure about this place… service is always excellent & friendly… and the food is always consistent. For today’s lunch I ended up with the crispy gau gee mein. You get 4 pieces of fried gau gee with chow mein noodles loaded with veggies, shrimp, char sui, & pork. Prices are very reasonable, and lots of free parking in the private parking lot. If you’re ever in the Moilili area, and craving Chinese… it’s worth your while to check this place out!
