If you want cheap — well Chinese in Honolulu is no longer cheap — reasonable then and good, this is the place. They make sour cabbage and pork just the way I like it. Plus, they have all the standards, you can’t go wrong.

I love this place! Parking is great! It’s a whole in a wall kind a joint but, it’s awesome! It’s like the home style, old school Chinese restaurant that I remember when I was young. They even serve on school plates which makes me smile everytime! :) My Boyfriend really likes this place & for a Haole Boy… that’s a big thing! Ha ha ha We order the Dinner combination which includes sweet & sour spareribs, charsue, chow mein, beef broccoli, crispy chicken, crispy hau gee! ALL in one! Dam good! I recommend this place for sure!

This is my new favorite spot for when I am in the mood for Chinese. It is affordable, has a wide variety of Chinese dishes and quick service. Their location is great too! They are right off of university close to many bus stops and they validate for parking. My favorite dish was the Chow Fun with Beef, Peppers and Black Bean sauce. This dish is submerged in a yummy savory sauce and has crisp onions and bell peppers. This will definite be my go-to lunch spot!

Friendly staff. Split the dinner plate and honey walnut shrimp for lunch with my wife. There was plenty of food for the both of us. Price was okay, but the food was worth it.

Seriously a hole-in-the-wall, but don’t let that fool you! They have about 8 tables in there. The service was pretty good, didn’t have to wave down the waitress to refill my glass or anything. Ordered their Hot&Sour Soup on yesterdays chilly night & it actually tasted really good. It was enough to share with boyfriend. Parking is right in front & they’ll validate your ticket. Simple menu items price range about $ 7 – 15

The dinner here was alright tonight. Usually, I would have given it 4 stars but somehow they messed up my black bean clams. Either the clams were small or they cooked it too long that it shrunk. It was also stretched out on both shells so it was hard to eat. The best entrée of the night was the fried gau gees. It was fried, light and crispy; meat on the inside was tender and not dry like some other places. The scallop soup was good. The salted fish and chicken fried rice was also good. I liked that they put the sweet and sour sauce on the side for the fried fish so that it didn’t get soggy. My husband thought the fried fish was really tasty. Pass on the lobster with vegetables. It was the frozen lobster and the vegetables were old. I’m used to getting live lobsters at Chinese restaurants so this didn’t do it for me. However, the waitress did tell me that the lobster was frozen and not live when I ordered it. This is a hole in the wall joint. The place is old and not in the best shape. It’s in need of a renovation. Don’t get all dressed up if you’re planning to come here.

I was surprised they have shrimp and chasu in YangZhou fried rice, which is not authentic but still really good! The amount of fried rice is always so big! Sichuan shrimp, highly recommend if you like spicy! ^^

Huge portions, low prices, hole-in-the-wall Chinese food is nice every once in a while. Although it’s not the healthiest meal, it is still a yummy cheat meal for me. This quaint place is located in University Square on the corner of King and University. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Dinner Plate. Even though it wasn’t dinner time I was still allowed to order it. It is a great deal at just $ 7.95. Overloaded, it has sweet sour pork, pot roast, beef broccoli, duck, crispy gau gee, fried noodles, and fried rice. It is so big that it was like two meals in one! Service was efficient and wait time was reasonable. I only had to wait less than 10 minutes for my food to be made. Parking is at City Square and you might have to pay. I park either on the street or at a nearby business.

1. Verdict/Value: Looking for takeout Chinese that’s cheap without caring if it’s authentic or not? It’s here. Tough to recommend with better competition for $ 0.50 or $ 1.00 more… 2. Food: Interesting selection of Chinese on the menu — the focus is on saving you money with posted specials between 10am-4pm. The char siu($ 5.95) is a small take out container’s worth of lean pork meat that is not even close to authentic, but edible because it’s tender. On the other hand, the lunch special($ 7.50) is the one to get — a normal-sized takeout container filled with beef broccoli chow mein, sweet-and-sour spare ribs(their own recipe which is not really sweet or sour), pot roast fatty pork(careful, it can be dry), two crispy gau gee(about 50 – 50 between deep fried skin and actual meat), and steamed rice. The chow mein and the steamed rice might have been the highlight(not sure if that’s a good sign if plain rice was one of the highlights). Folks looking for non-Western food for cheap may love this place! Law hon jai(vegetarian /gluten /tofu /fake meat) lovers will like the selection here too. 3. Service: Like C&J two doors down, it’s good for what it is; Cantonese speakers would feel a little more at home with the hosts here. This place is also cash only. 4. Atmosphere: It’s white, no-frills, and depending on your comfort level, it matches some older(typically Asian) plate lunch places or it’s best to take your order to go and eat in more comfortable confines. Unless it’s Sunday, keep an eye on how long you’re parking in the private pay-parking lot.

Great hidden gem in Honolulu! I hardly ever give high ratings for Chinese food but this place has very delicious and tasty food, at super prices! I am impressed. Some friends come here to order Take Out all the time and I decided to try it today. Not much for décor but who cares about how it looks! Will be back regularly now for sure.

I ordered take out from Chinese Dynasty one night hesitantly, since the menu and pictures on Unilocal seemed iffy. Unfortunately it was the only Chinese restaurant in the area so we tried it. First of all, they had no orange chicken or beef on the menu. They suggested lemon chicken instead which was not only very different from orange chicken, but was jelly-like and disappointing in itself. Furthermore, the lo mein was boring and tasteless, how do you get lo mein wrong?! We tried to order spring rolls and they didn’t have any and suggested these beef Rangoon-like things as a replacement. These were cold, void, and mediocre at best. I was so utterly disappointed that I did not eat and instead laid down on metal-frame futon and slept on my sad, empty stomach. 1 star.

Good for the price. Private validated parking lot. took quite some time at lunch hour to get grub. They were pleasant and friendly. It seemed like a few people did pickups whilst I was present baby.

Great hole in the wall place. I love the cow fun here. It’s so tasty. The people are nice. The chicken is good too. I’ve not really ventured too much because I just really like the chow fun. It’s why I come to this place. It’s addictive.

Not bad for some quick cheap Chinese food! The service is really great and the food is fine. Just don’t have your expectations set too high! I had the cake noodle beef and it was pretty good. Its hard to dislike cake noodles. The waitress/server always made sure that we had a nice cup of hot tea available.

I cannot speak to anything but the steamed sea bass. Its so good that I can’t bring myself NOT to order it. Its texture and flavor is delightful. Full of ginger soy flavor, and I usually order a garlic choy sum dish to round out my food groups. The portions are enough for 2 people. Very reasonably priced. Don’t expect any ambiance this is not fine dining, but it sure tastes like it. I don’t know about you but I would rather get the value in the food, not paying for the real estate. Just saying.

My husband brought home a huge portion of roast duck and ginger cold chicken on rice from this place one evening for dinner. He said it cost $ 8!!! So cheap! He bought 2 plates, but I think we could have shared just 1. I have to say it was pretty delicious. It wasn’t over greasy and the quality was good for its price. The staff is really nice and friendly. The waitress was very caring to make sure I had enough parking sticker so I wouldn’t get charged for their parking lot. Free Parking BTW with purchase. Easy to order. Friendly staff. Easy parking &FREE. Lots of good quality food, cheap price! Oh! …and my husband told me to get extra ginger pesto for the cold chicken next time. Geesh! He’s so demanding! LOL I forgot to ask them on my take out order this time. There’s plenty of room to dine in too. But we mostly do take-outs when one of us are in the area. We’ve only eaten the half roast duck, half cold ginger chicken over rice with extra pesto sauce. We’ve never tried anything else… So you guys be the judge.

Golden Dynasty is one of my mother’s favorite bang-for-the-buck Chinese restaurants in town. «Bang» as in really, really tasty Cantonese dishes, while«for-the-buck» being very, very reasonably priced, with many entrees running a relatively thrifty $ 7-$ 8 per order. Like most Chinese restaurants, the menu here is HUGE, with seemingly 1001 ways to prepare beef, pork, chicken and seafood. In total 138 menu items to choose. The best part of all though, is that most of the menu items here are cooked-to-order, with none of this pre-cooked stuff sitting all day in a steamer pan. Winnah, winnah, fresh outta’ the flamin’ wok Chinese dinnah! This past Mother’s Day Sunday we enjoyed: Lemon Chicken. $ 6.75 Rating: 5 stars Notes: The Lemon Chicken is incredibly tender, while the sauce isn’t really«lemon-ee», but just has a hint of tang to it, while being more sweet and very savory. This is by far one of the best Lemon Chicken I’ve had yet and I highly recommend you order this dish if you’re looking for some good Chinese style chicken. Sweet and Sour Pork Spare Ribs. $ 6.50 Rating: 4 stars Notes: The Sweet and Sour Pork Spare Ribs are also fantastic, being fall-off-the-cartilage tender with a familiar sweet and sour sauce flavor. Nothing unusual or full of surprises. Just the way good Chinese Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs should taste. It’s not swimming in sauce, but has just enough of it to keep it moist. Winnahz. Pork with Bitter Melon. $ 6.75 Rating: 3 Notes: The sauce was a little harsh thanks to the Bitter Melon, and probably could use some sugar or something to counter that, but overall a satisfying and healthy choice. Like all their other meat dishes, the bite-size pieces of pork in this dish is very tasty and super tender. Shrimp Ala Canton(Sweet & Sour Shrimp). $ 8.95 Rating: 5 Stars Notes: The batter was fluffy, yet crispy, while the Sweet and Sour sauce tasted great and really brought out the flavor of the fresh, flavorful, sweet and tender shrimp tails. I seriously could have whacked the entire plate of Shrimp Ala Canton myself if given the opportunity. Another highly recommended dish! Beef with Broccoli. $ 6.75 Rating: 3 Notes: The Beef Broccoli was decent, but not the best I’ve ever had. The Broccoli was cooked to perfection, and so was the beef, which was tender as can ever be. The only problem I had with it was the gravy/sauce, which just didn’t have that«wow» factor. Perhaps just a pinch of sugar or salt may have done it. Gon Lau Mein. $ 6.75 Rating: 3 Notes: A meal in itself, with plenty of veggies and pork in the mix. As with all my Unilocal reviews, once again see the photo section to check out the dishes described above.
