Specialties

We bring joy to people’s lives through an appreciation of animals as our friends. Our specialty is a mobile petting zoo that showcases super miniature goats, fancy chickens, fancy ducks, geese, a gorgeous peacock, bunnies and even reptiles like snakes, a bearded dragon and a tortoise!

History

Established in 2006.

Jen flew the corporate coop in 2006 to follow her love of chickens… and all kinds of other farm animals! She started Pony Up! Petting Zoo in order to be with the two things she loves most… her kids and her animal kids.

We had them come to our place for our daughter’s fourth birthday party. They were a big hit with the kids and the adults. They did an excellent job of cleaning up continuously during the event and left no trace (other than the fact that our lawn was a bit trimmed by the goats). I really liked them over some other petting zoos I’ve seen because they treated their animals very well and at the same time were very accommodating of the children, striking a good balance between their animals’ safety and not stressing out the children with too many rules. I highly recommend them for any event.

They are the best petting zoo ever!!! I have used Pony Up many times for our cooperate events and they are so great! Jen is amazing and always on time. She provides a great variety of animals and keeps the animals and their area clean the whole time! They are great with seniors and kids and the goats are so cute with their little bandanas!

Jen and her daughter brought baby goats, chickens, snakes, iguana, peacock and more to my son’s 7th birthday party this past weekend. It was over the top! The kids– and parents– were blown away. Jen is warm and friendly with the kids and when she left, our lawn was cleaner than when she got there! The only flaw is how do I ever top this? Think Jen will just have to come to every b-​day party from now on. Thank you, Jen, for making my son’s birthday so special and memorable!

I booked Pony Up for my son’s 2nd birthday party recently and had great experience. I signed up online, and got a prompt response. Jen showed up earlier to start setup and she brought lots of animals. All kids had a great time petting the animals and older kids had wonderful time holding the snakes! Even adults like it and were standing up. We had it in our backyard which kept clean and neat and you could not tell if we had a petting zoo there. The price is great and the service is wonderful. I would do it more and more. All guests loved the party!

This is one of those reviews that is hard to write because Pony Up! is so good that I worry they will become too popular for us to use and afford in the future!
I can’t think of any way they could be better. They showed up on time, had a wonderful attitude, the animals were fantastic, Jen and her assistant were great with the kids, they even constantly cleaned any animal by-​products up as soon as they hit the ground.
Everyone who came to our 3 year old’s birthday party just loved it. This was a perfect event, 1 million times better than a bouncy house. I’d STRONGLY recommend Pony Up! If there was a 6-​star option they would have gotten it.

When my production company needed a variety of animals, I looked no further than Jen Van Deren and her Pony Up! business. Jen provided such an adorable selection of animals from goats, snakes, chickens, spiders, ducks, bunnies, and even a peacock, among others. She provided excellent handling and service, and the kids and dogs alike loved the animals. I highly recommend Pony Up for your next street fair, birthday party or TV shoot!

Jen, simply put is AMAZING! She has a special connection to each of her animals — the trust between them can only be described as love. She and her gorgeous daughter Skylee brought amazing animals to our Teaser Pilot Shoot of Izzy Unleashed and were professional, kind and wonderfully entertaining.
If you want a special party, a great family experience and undescribable fun — hire Pony Up! There is no better experience.

I had them for party full of 2 years olds at a school last week and the kids loved it. The teachers and the school are still talking about it to this day.
Jean was extremely nice and very professional and you can definitely tell the animals were well loved.
The animals were super adorable between the bunnies, goats, chickens, lizard, and yes even the toad, oh and lets not forget the peacock that I don’t even think knows its a peacock… how may peacocks you know that likes to ride shot gun in the front seat with a seat belt on… hahaaa gotta love it

I had Pony Up for my daughters 5 year old birthday as she loves animals.
Pony Up was amazing, they came on time, set up, and cleaned up after as well.
The was a lot variety of a animals including a peacock, hens, roosters, bunny’s, goat and ducks. She also brought in insects the kids could pet and feel if they wanted to. The lady was very friendly with the children and explained to them how the animals lived, what kind they were and answered all the kids inquisitive questions :)
I had about 15 plus kids and they all loved it !!! BIG HIT!!!
I would highly recommend it for any animal loving child. Jen (owner) is very sweet and I was very pleased with the service I got.

Pony Up was awesome! We could not have asked for a better party! Pony Up arrived on time, set up the animals. The animals were great with all the kids, ages 1 – 7 years old. Miss Aubrey had all sorts of knowledge on each animal. She cleaned up after each animal, helped clean kids. We HIGHLY recommend Pony Up! We would absolutely use again! Thank you Pony Up for helping our daughters third birthday be a memorable one!

The unthinkable: We had hired Pony Up! to bring in a baby farm animal petting zoo for a VERY last minute event my workplace (imagine a pen of baby chickens, goats, bunnies and ducklings)
Jen (I think she is the owner) was great to work with. She asked a lot of questions about the space where we wanted to have the petting zoo and brought the perfect mix of animals with her. (think: smaller animals, smaller — well you get where I’m going) Now I wouldn’t recommend this unless you have a hard surface floor and lot’s of room, but to be honest, aside of the sawdust, it was a pretty clean experience all around.
She was super prompt. Maybe even early?!
Her animals were cute, clean and well cared for.
P. S. And the adults went bananas over the baby animals! I’d definitely work with her again — if and when I’m in need of a Pony Party. :)

I just had my son’s 3rd birthday party on Saturday. We had the petting zoo and pony come to the house. The kids absolutely loved all the animals at the petting zoo. There were such a variety of cute little animals, more than I expected. The pony rides were also a hit with the kids. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I would definitely recommend pony up to everyone. You won’t be disappointed. Everybody at the party was impressed and the kids were entertained the whole time. After having no luck finding a petting zoo for a summer school I was working at, I stumbled upon «Pony Up!» and was glad I did. I had never had a petting zoo before and I wanted to create an enrichment experience for the 70+ students who ranged from 5 to 13 years in age. The owner, Jen Van Deren, was responsive and helpful as I made arrangements and asked questions. Despite the last minute request, she was able to send over a dozen animals: chickens, ducks, rabbits, chicks, and a peacock. They all arrived on time and with little setup time; a major feat considering our appointment was in the early morning and they had to travel from Gilroy all the way to Atherton. On top of this, unexpected construction and a baseball camp all made the setting «less than ideal.» Despite all these obstacles, the pet handler was punctual, efficient and friendly. A great experience all around and one I hope to continue next year.
