Business Owner

Armed with his education and his experiences in the Navy, Benno began his career in the food industry with on-​the-​job training from famed Galveston restaurateur Mike Gaido. Twenty years later Benno opened Benno’s on the Beach, and his catering company was soon to follow.

Benno’s catered our daughter’s wedding reception and my expectations were exceeded! Not only was the food just awesome but their attendants and person in charge went above the call of duty. They served wine on trays to our guests and the person in charge, Elaine, went to the liquor store for me when it was discovered that SPEC’s dropped the ball and didn’t deliver a case of red wine. You must have their boiled shrimp! Also, their crawfish étouffée stuffed empanadas are to die for. We had blue crab cakes (excellent) and prime rib (very, very good)! The salad was real cold and crisp and the sides all awesome. Plus, this was set up and served on the lawn of a beach house with strong wind. They set up and took down the tables and chairs. Everything ran smoothly thanks to them!

The line was very long but ultimately worth the wait.
We had:
fried shrimp and fish with hush puppies– good!
Boiled Shrimp with cocktail sauce and corn on the cob– would recommend this.
Blue crab– was cooked well and tasted good but also had a little sand in it. I’m not sure this was the restaurants fault. it was definitely fresh.
Boudian sausage– good!
Grilled potatoes– seasoned nicely, but could have been cooked a little longer.
Service was great! View was perfect. Try it for yourself :)
