Update from 1÷26÷2016 review — The owner of Moose Metal refunded a portion of the work after a lengthy discussion on business ethics and workmanship. I can’t change my rating solely on a partial refund, but I can say that if you have a genuine issue with the service or results, they will open a dialogue with you and can be reasonable in their resolution.

I had two poles fabricated to mount into a deck. Counter rep did a good job scoping out the work /​made good suggestions. Work was delivered on time /​no issues with the quality. Little pricey — But if you have a unique project in mind they can deliver as promised —

Great service and great shop! They are helpful to us in the landscaping field. Wish our company and customers can see the value in hard scaling with metal.

I’m fairly new to welding and do it as a hobby (not artsy fartsy metal working but making usable things), so I bumbled a little with my terminology of what I was looking for. The woman that was helping me was courteous and helpful throughout despite the original material I ask for was not what I wanted and resulted in some walking back and forth for her. She assisted me in identifying the material I wanted quickly without making me feel more dumb then I did on my own.
Since I’m not seasoned in metal work, I can only say they appeared to have a good selection. Customer service I can say was fantastic.

Decent work but they are not able to explain the price other than tell you it is $ 95 an hour for labor. Ask them about why things take so much time and it is just $ 95 per hour!

Terrible customer service. I dealt w Rick (the owner I think) after phoning for an estimate. When I showed up a couple hours later, the price was higher and Rick dismissed the fact that I was given a cost and told that the work would be done while I waited. To cap off a bad experience, the work was shoddy. I asked for a piece to be cut in 6 equal lengths. I got back 6 unequal pieces, raw edges and a lot of attitude when I raised dissatisfaction. I will not go back nor would I recommend this business to anyone.

Technically, they are fine. Good products, and an expert shop. However, the old lady at the counter is simply dishonest. Not only is she gruff and rude, she is inconsistent in pricing jobs. I went in on a Wednesday to get a quote for doing some cutting, she quoted me $ 60 for four holes. When I went back on Saturday she said it would cost $ 120. When I protested she started stammering and said she would look up the quote. Her daughter had already confirmed the $ 60 quote. As I left I let her know that I would be finding another shop to deal with. I am tired of being gouged and treated like crap. Just totally unnecessary. I would agree with others who say they have too much business and so they don’t care about their customers. I won’t ever do business with them again.

Over priced and poor customer service skills. This is what happens when a place has too much business. They stop caring!
Went in a needed eight ½ inch cuts on some thin metal. I asked if we could settle for 30 mins of work. The said no and that they had already spent 5 mins of that time talking to me.
Well I was a returning customer and ya just lost me buddy.

I wanted to make everything out of metal when I touched the material they use in this place. A metal house! Metal doors! A metal bed! Brrr.
I settled for a fireplace mantel which was ready on time and looks better than I imagined. It won’t be cheap if you need a special piece, but why mess around? Get it right the first time.

Ok, I get a call from Rick at the end of the day with a price quote of $ 3300 or so. His wife has given me a quote twice for about $ 358. I am not sure how the price goes up ten times.
No, this shop is not worth dealing with. I was willing to take the poor customer service (calling so many times without being able to reach anyone and leaving message and not getting calls back).
No, thank you. There is plenty of other businesses that would appreciate my business, provide me with a better customer service and prices for sure.

I was very pleased with the service I received today. I walked in with a project I would have thought could only be done w/​industrial equipment.
Instead of taking advantage of someone, the owner (I’m assuming) gave me the confidence to do the job my self and save approx $ 90. So off I went with a $ 7 piece of steel and wa-​la… It was as easy as he said.
I will definitely be back for my projects and will highly recommend!!!

I’ve come here several times to work on personal projects and work related projects. I also buy all of our steel through moose. It has always been a first rate experience and I truly appreciate their professionalism and insight.

Got recommended to come here by a few people on my car forum and also by a reputable shop. I needed to get a crank pulley bored out. Everything went smoothly from dropping off the pulley to the estimated time they would get it finished. I picked up the pulley and thought everything was fine until I got home. Someone at the shop dropped the pulley from a counter or something since one of the lip is cracked and on the other side of the same lip is dented in. I didn’t realize it until I started installing it onto my car. Will never use this shop again, ruining a customers piece and not even informing them.

Me want metal. They sell me metal fair price. 5 shiney things in my book… ‘what is ‘book’?

I had a spiral staircase built by Moose Metal and it came out great! I enjoyed everything about this process from the design to fabrication to installation. I would highly recommend working with them.

Bad customer service. I went there to get an estimate. Did not try to understand what I’m tryin to explain instead he tried to recommend another shop that can help. Bad service

My husband and I regularly buy steel from Moose Metal for various household project and have always received terrific help from the owners. We’ve built trellises, shelves, a bed, planter boxes, gates, and fence posts with steel we’ve bought at Moose. It’s suprisingly affordable to make your own with true steel instead of flimsy store-​bought products. The owners often suggest thicknesses or options if we ask and no job seems too small for them to assist with. They’ll cut metal to length or to fit it in your car and the fabricated pieces lying around the shop are so creative and well done. I highly recommend Moose.

This review is just my experience with the shop and shop owner, never have seen any finished work so can’t comment on that. I was shopping on the internet for a local metal shop to fabricate and weld a relatively simple design I have and decided on Moose metal becuase it was local. If you are like me and you need small, custom metal work done for a hobby or weekend project, the first challenge is to find a place that is a good fit for your project. It’s difficult to even describe my experience with the owner of this shop. I left confused and perplexed. I’ll only say it was one of the strangest customer relation experiences I’ve ever had. I would never entrust this guy with my projects. To summarize some of the highlights from my meeting with him, he basically didn’t «approve» of my design of what I wanted him to build, said it could be done simpler. If I wanted him to design it, I would have said so! Better yet, I’d just go to a store and buy something off the shelf, I’m in your shop because I want my design built! But, I said ok, well if you could give me direction on what you think needs to be different for you to be able to build it? «I’ll just tell you you have more homework to do… the way this is it’s going to cost you a fortune to build» Well, ok, just please give me a quote and can you recommend which thickness of steel to use? «I have 50 years of knowledge, but that’s taken 50 years to get, and we don’t give that away for free at this shop…» It was like two trains passing in the night. I wanted a quote and maybe a recommendation on which thickness of metal might be best to try. We’re talking about a 2 foot by 2 foot box design with a flange edge, not a space shuttle! I was also asked where I worked, what kind of work I did, but not casual conversation, this was to determine if I had enough money to take a product to market, and he had to quiz me down about it! I’m trying to have a fun weekend project built, where is this coming from? Another quote: «I’ve taken products to market, I know how much money you better be ready to spend!» I felt like I hadn’t had enough coffee to deal with this conversation. After 5 minutes, I realized it was a big mistake to come to this shop. Here’s what I would like built, tell me how much! Should be simple answer, but wasn’t with this place. This guy cannot communicate at all and that’s a problem if you’re trying to hire someone to make something for you. I felt like this guy just kept moving his mouth and the equivalent of flatulent kept flying out. I left confused, not knowing if he would help or tell me just to beat it after 15 minutes. I can tell you, examples he was giving me, over 80 bucks and hour for any work and the fact he thought a box design would take over 10 hours to make, seems rediculously high. With that being said, he never actually gave me a quote! I would shop around before going to this place for any custom work, better options out there I’m sure.

I absolutely swore by this place for a long time. Over the years I’ve spent somewhere in the thousands with them. Throughout the years I’ve also sent numerous customers their way due to the great experiences that I’ve had with them. Everything that Jerry posted was exactly how I felt until recently. The husband is no bs and straight forward however this is now my second run in with the wife which was less than pleasant. The first time I just figured she was having a bad day and I blew it off. This time she cut me off mid sentence twice after inquiring about a project that I was working on and talked to me as if I were 2 years old. It was rude and i’m not saying that i won’t use them again but because of this i will begin to consider other options for my future projects. To have been treated like this twice after having been a loyal customer for the past 6 years is unacceptable. My advise is to talk to the husband. He’s a great guy and he’s always good for a big smile when you walk in the door. The lolipops on the counter are a nice addition as well.
