Our optometrist is highly experienced in hard to fit contact lens patients.

The optician has been at his ‘craft’ since 1967 and welcomes helping in frame & lens selection.

We have been featured in New York magazine as best buys in designer eyewear. We are also recommended by several ophthalmologists, pediatric and adult, who know of our accuracy and patient care.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Aside from being the owner, Gil is also the craftsman/​optician.

Gil’s first exposure to the optical field was upstate NY where he learned the art of making glasses by hand. After a short while he moved up to teach the courses where he was a student.

Upon coming to NYC in 1970, he proceeded to get his State license to practice.

Gil spent the following years opening & developing specialty optical lens manufacturing labs, until in the mid 1970’s opened up his first private practice. Gil has owned & operated optical practices in Bensonhurst, Gravesend & Park Slope.

Insight Optical was established in 1993 & is still going strong.
