I can only reiterate all the good things that have already been said about Elmer and his crews. Getting an estimate was easy, and Elmer gave us a detailed overview of what work he would do. The estimate was in line with others we’d gotten, and we picked Elmer’s company because, basically, we trusted him the most simply on gut feeling. Our feeling, it turns out, was not misplaced. The job was huge — clearing out trees and undergrowth on a severely neglected property. Elmer’s crew did the majority of the work without one of us present, due to our time constraints, and the crews worked extremely hard. At one point, Elmer realized the job was going to require extra man-​hours to complete within the time he estimated, so he called in additional crew members. Elmer was careful to only remove dead trees — he was uncomfortable removing trees he thought might require a permit, and we fully trusted his judgement on which trees could come out and which should be left alone. Several neighbors independently contacted me saying how impressed they were with the work Elmer was doing, and asking me for his contact information. Overall, it is truly impressive to find a company that is as reliable and trustworthy as Elmer’s is, and at such a fair price. Highly recommended!

Elmer and crew helped us take down 3 very large dead pine trees in our yard. The whole process was very seamless and met our expectations. Elmer showed up on time for a quote, quickly walked around and provided us a bid along with estimated timeline to complete the project. A few weeks later we hired him and the next day his crew showed up and took down the trees in just 2 days. All the other quotes I got estimated it was a 4 – 5 day project.
I’ve only subtracted one star as the crew didn’t do a great job in cleanup and left a pretty sizable stump on one of the trees. I called Elmer the next day and he quickly came out, saw the work and confirmed that they should have cut the stump lower. He stuck around until the crew showed up to fix the job.
That’s great service! I’ll be using their services again.

Elmer and his crew did an excellent job for a good price — they even came back the next day and cut off some additional branches that they had missed — no fuss and no extra charge. Elmer is more conscientious and knowledgeable on trees than some other tree service folk I have used in the past. Will use them again!

EC tree service took down two large acacia trees and pruned another tree for us. They were professional, punctual, courteous and overall amazing. They came with a large crew who worked quickly to get the job done while taking care to protect our yard and home. Compared to other quotes we received, their price was very reasonable. Can’t say enough good things about these guys… we were extremely impressed with their services.

Elmer and crew did an amazing job removing several dead trees, pruning all the trees near my house, and cleaning up my yard. As a first time homeowner discovering the cost of tree removal was a pretty painful experience, but Elmer met with me on my property beforehand to thoroughly explain the scope of work and really helped me by working with my budget.
On the appointed day I wasn’t able to see them in action due to work, but when I came by after the job — half an hour late due to traffic and fully expecting them to be gone — I found that they were all still waiting so that Elmer could walk through and make sure they hadn’t missed anything. When dealing with contractors, I’ve come to expect the absolute minimum… but in this case they did everything I asked for and more. I was surprised to see that not only had they done the removal and necessary pruning we’d discussed, but they had also removed a bunch of tiny dead trees and swept up the leaves on my pathways and driveway!
Overall I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I wish Elmer did more than just landscaping and trees!

Elmer and his crew did a good job trimming our trees and clearing out brush and poison oak from our yard earlier this year.
He was responsive to email and came out to give a quote quickly.
Before leaving the job, Elmer made sure to ask if I was satisfied and got his men to perfect the job.

I have used EC Builders twice, for tree trimming and removal and fixing my fence. They arrived promptly, very professional, got work done on time. Elmer was very easy to deal with.

In preparation for what we hope will be a rainy/​stormy fall and winter, we wanted our biggest trees trimmed away from the house, and other trees trimmed for their health. Saw EC Builder’s reviews on Unilocal and after contacting them, Elmer came out right away and gave us an estimate, returning a few days later to complete the job. After the job, he walked us through what he did and what is needed in the future. Elmer and his crew did great work; very clean and very prompt. We will definitely use him again. Note, we got lucky because he had a cancellation. Most tree companies are pretty booked this time of year, especially ones so highly rated, but give Elmer a try.

Another spectacular tree pruning from Elmer’s team. From the moment I called to make an appointment to the on time arrival of the crew, this company understands customer service. The crew did a fantastic job pruning my trees. They look beautiful.

First, getting the estimate for a bunch of tree work in our back yard was perfectly smooth. The estimate was the best compared with 2 other places we called and Elmer was very friendly and easy to deal with.
When the time came for getting the work done they brought 4 guys and showed up right on time. They finished the job in the quoted time and the yard looked great. They also made sure the work was done to my expectations before leaving the house. Highly recommend them!

These guys are AWESOME! We had a dead Monterrey Pine that was really starting to lean and high risk. I told Elmer that I was super worried it was going to fall on the house and he was able to get his guys out ASAP. They came out, chopped it down quickly and efficiently, cleaned everything up beautifully and were done. Every interaction with them from start to finish was a true pleasure! I can’t recommend them more highly.

Another satisfied customer! Elmer and his crew cleared out an acre of land and added mini bark around our house, did a great job and finished well ahead of schedule.
The job was tough — over the years trees and bushes that had been pruned or cut down were left at the bottom of a steep acre of land and were becoming an eyesore (as well as a potential fire hazard). Our property was also overgrown with weeds.
The work was hard — dragging truckloads of debris up a hill to the wood chipper, clearing the land of weeds, and spreading 12 cubic yards of mini bark.
Elmer and his crew did a very nice job and cleaned up nicely after they finished. He brought a very large crew with him (10 in total) which allowed him to move fast and finish well ahead of schedule.
He is also a nice guy to work with, as are his crew.

Fast and efficient tree trimmers. Clean up after themselves. Had a couple of palms that’s been neglected for the last few years, was given a quote quickly, had the job done the day after that. Everything is fast and painless.

Why 5 stars? 1) Elmer responds quickly; 2) shows up on time; 3) delivers what he promises for a fair price; 4) has a great team who care as much as he does; and 5) they deliver a job well done! I’d give a 6^th star for cleaning up well after themselves (no branches, sticks, etc.) but Unilocal is limited to 5 star allocation. This was our first time hiring EC but won’t be our last. Thank you, Elmer!

Elmer first came out to give us an estimate for major cleanup and new landscape mini bark in our front and back yard. The estimate was extremely fair given the work that needed to be done.
A few weeks later he showed up with a crew of 4 men at 8:30 am sharp as he said he would.
The crew removed all the old landscape material and laid out new mini bark in the front yard and back.
They did a beautiful job!
I really appreciated the honesty of Elmer.
He used 8 yards of Mini Bark instead of the estimated 10 yards and reduced my bill at the end of the job.

A tree went down during the storm today. I called Elmer and he showed up within 15 minutes. A few hours later his crew showed up and took down the tree.
I highly recommend him and his team. Hard working and fast, even in the middle of a storm :)

I did the usual leg work on requesting three quotes, and they came back with the best price not knowing what the others gave or even knowing I had others. Four men were sent for a large full tree needed thinning and cutting. Two seemed to be amazing artist and two did the leg work of removing the mess. Great team work and I’m extremely happy on how it looked after.

I wish all contractors were as honest and thorough as these guys. I interviewed a few
local arborists and they were not very prompt or responsive or their pricing was very high. Elmer came out on the same Monday I called, we spoke for quite a while and I knew just by the conversation he was the right guy for the job. Not only did they remove 4 trees and ground every last bit of stump and root into mulch but did a superb job on my neighbors gargantuan Monterrey Cypress and 50 ’ h palm tree.
We both got a great deal and the difference is amazing. The guys were very conscientious and had to cut high limbs away from power lines. Great job all around.

My husband and I have hired Elmer and his crew at EC Builders for multiple projects over the past year. My husband wrote this review… I give EC Builders my top recommendation, and would not hesitate to hire them in an instant. Originally, I found EC Builders based on their great reviews on Unilocal for tree-​related services.
Behind our house is a steep hill. I wanted to plants some trees to control possible erosion, something we have been worried about. Elmer and his team suggested that we plant 11 Oleanders and English Laurels, rugged plants that have deep and strong root systems. These plants will grow over the years and hold the otherwise barren hillside in place. Since planting our Oleanders and English Laurels months ago, they are doing extremely well and continue to grow.
Most recently, I also hired Elmer and his crew to do some projects around the house, related to my crawl space insulation and also roofing. The crawl space project, in particular, was a difficult project, and one that requires patience and persistence. (I know because I actually did part of the project in the larger area of the crawl space, before realizing that I needed help and hired Elmer.) The results are amazing, and I already have some other projects in mind for Elmer and his team.
Elmer’s crew is extremely professional, detail-​oriented, and hard working. Whether you want to hire them for tree-​related services or construction-​related services, they will not disappoint. I particularly like the fact that they are licensed (more info on their website). This helps put anyone’s mind at ease during construction-​type work.
In life, I personally take the philosophy that I am not above doing any kind of work. I really respect Elmer and his team because they take this same attitude. They are able to help with both small and large projects, both easy and difficult ones, both clean and extremely dirty ones.
