I went to get a manicure and pedicure right before the New Years Eve ball and absolutely loved Kris. Even though the salon was very busy due to the ball being that evening, Kris never rushed and she was so attentive to detail to make sure I was happy with the color I choose. They have TONS of nail polish colors to choose from also.

I was on an anniversary trip and decided to get a fun haircut. I chose Island Breeze because it had good reviews. I called the day before to make an appointment. I came in at my scheduled time and the lady at the front told me that they were running an hour behind if I could come back. So I came back an hour later and still waited quite a bit. The young lady who finally came to help me was very reserved and seemed unhappy. She told me to sit down and started to wash my hair. She was extremely rough and sloppy. I asked her to be gentle and she totally ignored me. Then I asked her to please stop getting water in my ears which she ignored and said «I have to rinse the back of your hair». I began to feel a little worried about getting my hair cut. Then we went to the styling chair and she started to spritz my hair with something but got it all over my face and glasses. Maybe I’m just used to really good service but I made her stop and got up to leave. I wasn’t going to take any more chances. Ambience and service is everything. This place does not have either.

My original post was that I felt unhappy with the manicure I was getting. The technique wasn’t of the usual it wasn’t as professional as those you would get here in San Diego. But after getting the owners response I Decided to change my review and maybe use someone else and I would consider giving it another try.

My sister and I took a two day trip to Catalina Island to relax and unwind from our crazy work schedules. We both decided we needed a spa day. I picked up some random fliers that had multiple spa options on Catalina Island. Most of the prices seemed out of range so I went on Unilocal and started my search. Island Breeze Spa & Salon came up and I called to ask about services. The prices were more reasonable than others on the island, which was a plus, so we booked our appointment for the same day. When we went in, we were greeted by a kind receptionist. We didn’t wait long at all and got started with our services. Armando was my masseuse for my heavenly foot treatment. It was AMAZING to say the least. I read about his reviews prior to coming in and was just lucky enough to have him give me my massage. He did such a great job, I felt like I had new feet again :) it was great. My sister said her facial was average and she’s had better. This review is for the service of Armando and the cleanliness of the salon. If you are on the island and are contemplating where to get a massage, book an appointment with Armando, you will not regret it! I will definitely be back to this spa when I’m on the island just to get a massage by Armando. Thank you!

I went to Island Breeze Spa for my birthday! I was received by staff with sincere
warmth & friendliness. The environment was welcoming and relaxed.
I decided on the birthday upgrade: Swedish massage with hot stones! It was so incredible! Armando is a master at his profession! He was outstanding! I think it
was the best massage I remembering having & I receive massages as part of my health maintenance regularly. I recommend Island Breeze and Armando! I plan to return soon!

Came here for the birthday special and had Armando. It was fantastic, he was very conscientious and in tune with my body and needs. I would recommend this spa time and time again

My husband had a 50 minute deep tissue massage by Armando he absolutely loved it. It was one of the best massages he has had in awhile. We had gone diving earlier in the day and his lower back and hip was hurting him. Armando did an excellent job to alleviate his discomfort. I went to pick him up and Armando told me my husband wanted to see me in the treatment room. When I opened the door I could tell his pain had gone away. The room was very warm and toasty and he told me I needed to have a massage from Armando. They were able to accommodate me right away and I had the pleasure of having my sore muscles worked out.
If you are ever in Catalina island make sure you see Armando!

Armando was wonderful, very professional, and his hospitality was a treat. Their prices also added to their warm hospitality. Going the extra mile in actions was highly appreciated.

This review is not so much about the spa itself but about Armando Padilla, my massage therapist extraordinaire. His technique made this the most relaxing and therapeutic massage I have ever had. He knew exactly what work my body needed and worked out the kinks masterfully.
I would go back to the island just to get a massage from him!

We decided to marry in Catalina and within the month there we were on the beautiful island. I scheduled an appointment about a week and a half prior to our wedding date. I simply found a picture I liked online and showed Nancy and she made my hair look so amazing. When I turned around with the mirror and looked at the back and how pretty it was I could hardly believe it was my head!

I could tell as soon as I sat down she knew what she was doing so I just relaxed with a magazine.

I don’t usually post much of reviews but my experience was horrible that i think they deserve this 1 star, no stars if that was an option. My husband and i visited catalina island for my husband’s birthday and we tried their sampler massage, the massage itself was decent but the therapists were very unprofessional. During our couple’s massage, both our therapists started to softly giggling for about 20 – 30 seconds. At first i thought that it has something to do with husband and i thought it was both the therapists and my husband was giggling with them so i just ignored it. On our back home i asked my husband why were they giggling, my husband thought that both the therapists and myself was giggling so he just ignored it. It turned out that its just both our therapists that was giggling for some reason that they were not able to wait until the massage was over. After the giggling, my husband noticed that his therapists turned on the fan with no apparent reason, which blew a cold breeze towards him. Later on in the middle of the massage, my husband heard his therapist’s phone rang and the therapist had to reach her pocket to clear or silent the call. He did mention that the ringtone was also of a soothing tone so i did not hear it. On our way back home, my husband was asking if the therapist that i had used the hot lava rocks that we both paid for an additional $ 10 per person, i told him yes and explained to him how they used it and my husband swears that he did not have that experience during the massage. The worst part about this is we only started talking about our experience after we left the spa and paid $ 10 per each therapist as a tip.
The prices might be a bit better than the rest of the massage places here in the island but i assure you that u are better off paying a bit extra to go someplace else.
We could have had a perfect birthday for my husband but ISLAND BREEZE SPA AND SALON ruined it.

Came here for the birthday special with my mom. We did a 50 minute couples massage that we upgraded for 10 extra dollars $ 65 per person.
It included a deep body massage, Swedish massage, and hot stones.
It was well worth it. Depending on the person you get you can either tell them to apply more or less pressure whatever you prefer.
Everyone was very nice friendly which made our experience the more enjoyable.
Even gave us free bottles of massage oil to take home! You should call in advance to make appointment.

I just walked into Island Breeze Spa and got a wonderful deep tissue massage from Brian Malloy. I have real tight shoulders and neck and he expertly worked out the kinks.
I give Brian 5 stars. The place is clean and nice. It was great the I could just walk in and get a 50 min massage.
Last year my 12 year old daughter and I got pedicures at Island Breeze. We had a fun and relaxing time together.

I came to Catalina for my bday, and got a half hr massage birthday deal here. Brian Malloy was my therapist, he was excellent! Very professional and has been a therapist for a long time. He told me the places he’s worked and it’s an impressive resume.
Most importantly, I came in because my shoulders and upper back were full of knots and were super tight. I left relaxed and feeling a whole lot better, and that was only after half an hour!
Def recommend Brian!

These folks advertise on Catalina’s Birthday Island. They offer a 50 minute massage for $ 55 on your birthday. For $ 10 more I got the «Catalina Sampler Massage.» This was a combination Swedish, deep tissue and hot stone 50 minutes of Nirvana.
My massage therapist was Dana. She asked me which parts of my body to concentrate on specially and how intense I wanted it (i.e. Swedish fall asleep type massage or more deep tissue. I chose a little deeper working over since I had just paddled 6 miles on a kayak. My biceps were simply screaming and my shoulders were very tight. I also have tight calves.
I should have been very sore from the kayaking, but the next morning, here I am still relaxed and feeling great. This was my first ever massage and I realize that I have little to compare it with, but if it had been any better, someone would have had to carry me home — in a bucket. I was so relaxed. My chronically tight calves and shoulders are still relaxed. If I were rich, I would come here every week.

I had the most wonderful massage, by Brian Malloy. He even stayed after 5 to give me more time. I do hope he will be working this weekend when we come back 4 a few days. Ask for Brian. I have had massages for many years, you wont be disappointed.

What a sweet treat for my feet! Very personal service. Loved it. They have chair massages while you get a manicure. Lotions for sale as well.
The ambiance was relaxing and I’m glad I stopped.

I booked a couples massage at Massages by the Sea through Island Breeze for 4pm Saturday. I booked a week ahead of time, knowing they would book up. When we arrived we discovered that the Beach Club where the massages by the sea is located was not serving lunch, so I went to the counter at 2 to see if they could move our massage up to 3 since we would be hungry. They said they would check and to come back at 3. We came back at 3 and they said they couldn’t move it, but they would see us at 4pm as planned. At 4pm the service person told us the masseuse had gone home so they were sorry and we left very upset, especially since we were sore from snorkeling.
I called Island Breeze and they said they were aware of the situation, but the one masseuse had an emergency. That’s understandable. They then said the masseuse who was there, who we spoke to, could have given us one massage at a time, not a couples massage. That was not even offered to us as an option when we were at the beach. We would have been happy with that.
To try to make it up to us, Island Breeze offered us a Sunday morning massage. We had to leave the next morning to go home. Even if we took it that would have meant missing breakfast, rushing to pack, and rushing to catch the boat. If we wanted a hurried Sunday morning massage we would have booked one.
I understand things happen, but not even being offered a massage for one person is inexcusable when that masseuse had nothing else to do.

WOW! WOW! & WOW!!! For the ONLY massage you can get in a linen covered cabana by the ocean in Catalina Island, book Massages by the Sea through Island Breezes Salon & Spa. The cabanas are set up at Descano Beach right underneath the Zip Line. (No worries on the noise level because they pipe tranquil music into each cabana. I didn’t hear any ‘zipping’ at all during my treatment.) My masseuse, Maria, worked MAGIC over my knots & tightened shoulder muscles. I had no idea what type of massage to pick so Maria gave me the ‘sampler’ (swedish, deep tissue & hot rock). The last one was my FAVORITE!!! Next time, I’m ALL IN on the ROCKS!!!
Once my mini-​massage was done, I was off to the Island Breezes salon on Catalina Street for my pedicure with Lola :) What a WONDERFUL way to end my trip!!! Lola hooked me up with a spa pedi, soaking my sand covered feet into a warm bath. She adjusted my chair to recline then turned on more back MASSAGE… WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I found sanctuary & serenity just SITTING there. Lola is a true professional. I had a bit of a hang nail on my thumb that had torn beneath the quick. Lola saw it while she was finishing up my toes & offered to fix it for me without an extra charge. Thanks to her, I’m not snagging my hair on my nails anymore. THANK YOU Lola & the Staff at Island Breezes for making my trip to Catalina a WONDERFUL one!!! I MISS YOU already!!!
