Simply Nirvana

Simply Nirvana was a little tricky to find as its inside the Inn building, but the staff at the front desk of the Inn are very helpful and pointed me in the right direction! Rosa who owns the shop with her daughter was very friendly and professional. The place is a little unassuming and I was nervous that the quality would be less than spa level, however I am happy to report my first impression was WRONG!!! Rosa did a wonderful job and there was minimal outside Inn noise. I highly recommend anyone who lives on the island or is visiting for a getaway go see Rosa!!! Very affordable for the wonderful quality. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been doing massage therapy for 19 years. I love what I do and so does the daughter and mom studio. I booked online 2– 90 minute massages. We got to experience skill, relaxation and pampering during our couples massage! I recommend & will be booking every time I’m on the island. Such a pleasure!

My fiancé booked a sweetheart massage for 2 for a valentines day gift. He received confirmation for 2 via email a few weeks in advance and when we got there we were told the only had availability for 1 of us. The receptionist was not apologetic nor willing to accommodate us although she admitted it was their oversight. Rude!

This place is fantastic! Emma and Rosa are the ultimate mother-​daughter duo. Me and my wife got a couples massage package for 90 minutes. The works. Hot stones, essential oils, cold stone face rub, foot reflexology, deep tissue massage and complimentary wine after. I felt renewed and so did my wife. We were thinking of kidnapping these two and taking them back home with us.
Great energy, soothing music, and great service. Very friendly and very accommodating. If you’re need of some pampering or a massage, you MUST pay this place a visit. Looking forward to my next visit.

Soooo disappointed in my experience considering the reviews here. My husband and I booked massages a day in advance. My masseuse was a bit late, no biggy. The room was silent and awkward until I asked for them to put music on. My masseuse warned me about her cold hands and certainly did have them. I asked for more pressure twice, but she must have not had the strength I needed. I am extremely ticklish so it was an hour of trying not to squirm while she applied lotion and oils to my legs, arms and feet. I need more pressure to feel any relief and to relax. On top of that, there was construction going on in the next suite over so we heard hammering, drilling, and banging throughout our massage. Once it was all over, their credit card technology was down and asked if they could take down our credit card info and just email us a receipt. Uh, I think not. My husband had to go find an ATM so we could pay them cash. What an absolute waste of money and vacation time.

My boyfriend and I went to catalina for valentines (he surprised me with the trip) and he booked me a massage here. Unfortunately, I was having major girly cramps and wasn’t sure if a massage would help or make it worse.
When we got there we asked if we could switch to a couples massage and they said yes without any hesitation.
We got the hot stone massage and let me just say — AMAZING. My cramps dissipated minute by minute. By the end they were almost gone and I was just so relaxed. Felt better than I had in days.
My boyfriend really enjoyed it too and was super relaxed, although he usually prefers a swedish or something with more pressure.

I had Emma and she truly was the best! Listened to all my concerns/​wants and actually focused on those areas! Great job! Adjusted everything to everything I said and I was in heaven! I wish I could buy a 5 hr massage :)

My wife and I came to Catalina for our anniversary and this place was the perfect first stop. After a 7 hr drive to Newport, and a 1 hour ferry ride I was in dying need of a massage. We got the couple’s massage, and it was SOOO good I fell asleep for a good 5 – 10 minutes. Enough said…

My fiancé and I recently went to Catalina Island and stayed at the Catalina Island Inn. Simply Nirvana is right next door and we decided to stop in and book a massage. We were pleasantly surprised when they told us that they had an opening for both of us and we would be in the same room! We both had the hot stone massage and thoroughly enjoyed it! The room was a little chilly, but so was the weather outside. Barb was super nice and made me comfortable the entire time! It was a great way to spend a hour. A bit pricey but better than the other spas we checked out!

After reading several Unilocal reviews for other spas on the island, I settled on Simply Nirvana. I have no regrets! It was a great experience! I surprised my boyfriend with a couples massage and it was perfect. I’d go back in a heartbeat!

The ladies that work here are AMAZING!!! I took my sister here for her 30^th birthday. It was well worth the money! The quality is GREAT!!! I’m definitely going back here when we go back to Catalina Island!

My husband and I went to Catalina Island recently to relax for a few days, and he booked us a couple’s massage at Simply Nirvana — mostly because of their good reviews here on Unilocal.I’ve had many massages in my life, and the one I had with Barbara at Simply Nirvana rated well up there! My husband was massaged by Emma and really liked his massage too. Having a couples massage meant that we were both in the same room receiving our treatment simultaneously, and it worked very well for us.
The space was quiet, comfortable, and calm. Barbara and Emma are wonderful healers, obviously passionate about their work, and great at it. Before my massage, Barbara asked me about my preferences: pressure, places I was tight or sore, etc. She focused on what I’d asked her to help with, and was flawless in her technique. I felt very relaxed and much better after the massage.
Highly recommended! Check this place out when you visit Avalon on Catalina Island.

Emma is the BEST massage therapist in Avalon! She is a professional. I went to Simply Nirvana because I have chronic neck and shoulder pain from playing tennis and biking a lot. She massaged the deeper layers of muscle in my neck, back and shoulders to help in the healing process for me. I highly recommend her to others who want a serious massage to aid in their healing and overall well-​being.

My husband and I just recently took a mini-​honeymoon to Catalina Island for the weekend. The first thing we did after we got off the boat was to look for a nice massage place. We checked out Unilocal and Simply Nirvana had a bunch of good reviews.
We decided to try out their couples massage and it was very nice! I noticed one Unilocaler saying it was the best massage they had ever had in their life. I’d say I have to agree… so far.
Definitely worth trying again when I visit Catalina again.

The best massage I’ve had in over a year. I came here with my wife on her birthday for the 60 minute Balance couple’s massage. Her masseuse was excellent, too. The room was well-​decorated, quiet and comfortable, and the spa-​style music was just right.
They had a special running for four massages, so we came back the next day and each had another at a good discount. We both recommend this place.

When you go on an island for some R&R you gotta treat yourself to a massage. I think it’s required by law.
Things worth noting:
1. Located in the Cricket Alley Shops right across from the Radio Shack. I think they’re open around 10 AM. Don’t be surprised if no one is there till 10:15 AM. Remember… it’s island time.
2. You can book an appointment online, on the phone, or in person.
3. They’re currently having a special on their Balance and Soothe 50 minute massages. Normally for $ 90, they’re now going for $ 75. Soothe is an equivalent to a Swedish. Balance is an intermediate between Swedish and Deep Tissue.
4. If you like it rough, ask for Chris. I think that’s his name. If I’m wrong, it’s the young fellow with the glasses and the skateboard. He’s relatively gentle at first, but will accommodate to your pain threshold.
5. Each massage goes from head to toe. No muscle is left unturned. You get an eye pillow while they work on your extremities. At the end of the massage you get hot stones and a hot towel for your back. My boyfriend had a sunburn on his back, so they happily changed it to aloe and peppermint oil for his specific needs.
I left the massage loose, lax, and slightly disoriented from the bright light outside. It was a great experience and will return on my next trip to the island.
