Specialties

Phil’s Ice House has fresh 100% Angus beef burgers on the softest, tastiest toasted buns. Come try a 78 704; Monterrey jack cheese, guacamole, grilled onions and jalepenos with Chipoltle mayo MMMMmmmm! or the Rosedale; BBQ sauce, shredded cheddar, pickle and onion. All of our burgers can be made with a chicken breast or a Veggie burger, if you prefer. We serve all burgers with a mix of sweet potato fries and regular fries OR if you are an onion rings fan, we make some of the BEST.

History

Established in 2006.

Phil’s Ice House is named for Phil Clay, a longtime Amy’s Ice Creams employee and partner. He was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in 2003. So people would not forget Phil, Amy and Steve decided to name their burger place after Phil.

Phil’s Ice House is located in what once was Otis Hill’s Enco gas station. In 2004 Amy and Steve bought the property to move the Amy’s factory. (It is behind Phil’s in the former Allandale Post Office) they fell in love with the neighborhood and decided to create a neighborhood gathering place.

Business Owner

Hey, It’s Amy and Steve from Phil’s Ice House and Amy’s Ice Creams, we decided about five years ago to try something different and we embarked on a journey to build the BEST burger, much like we did with ice cream 25 years ago. We went to all the best places and found out the things we liked and the things others raved about. The result is Phil’s Ice House, it is named after our partner, Phil Clay, who passed away after a motorcycle accident. Phil’s Ice House is a living memorial to a man who was a HUGE part of Amy’s Ice Creams. Don’t be embarrassed if you have called me Phil over the past few years, I consider it a fine compliment. We love Austin and we love our customers, so don’t ever hesitate to let us know how we can do a better job. As a matter of fact, our customers South of the River have let us know that Burnet is a little far to travel for our fabulous sweet potato fries, so this summer we will open South of the River at Lamar and Barton Skyway with Phil’s Ice House 78 704.

«We all eat breakfast tacos from Taco Shack. Try the El Nino so rocks. Orlando and Yoli ya’ll start it all on Burnet.»
