Business Owner

I’m originally from Santa Barbara and moved here in 2004. While looking for work, my sister (a local family law attorney) asked if I could help her out by doing a few filings and a serve for her. Within a week, I was doing work for a few of her colleagues. And within a month… Well, you get the picture.

While I do have clients that handle civil and criminal law, and I’m more than happy to do that, the bulk of what I do is generally centered on family law.

I contacted Matt this week to serve a restraining order after the Sheriff was unable. He was extremely helpful and got the job done immediately. His willingness to work on Saturday morning enabled him to serve the dude on one attempt. I highly recommend Matt if you need a process server.

I don’t know if Matt is still in business. I contacted him and sent him the official paperwork to be served. We spoke twice after that as I was checking on his progress. Suddenly he stopped responding to my calls and after 5 tries I left messages to send the paperwork back to me, but no response. Without the registered paperwork in hand, I was forced to go back to the court to re-​file and pay an additional fee. This was a royal pain. Maybe there is a rational explanation, like he got hit by a truck, in which case I would feel bad for him. But if this was a lapse in his ability to carry through then his abilities are highly questionable.

My busy law firm has used Matt’s services for years. He’s been an outstanding process server and courier/​court runner/​filer. He knows the ins and outs of the inner workings at the clerks’ offices and knows what it takes to get your documents filed. He has never ever ever ever dropped the ball. If he says he’s going to do it, he’s going to do it. His rates are beyond reasonable. Hire Matt. You won’t regret it.

Matt is the best. We needed to serve someone ASAP. We called freaking early in the morning. He picked up. Said he could skip shower and breakfast and come over to get the paperwork. That’s how cool this dude is. Served the paperwork. Told us he’ll send us some documentation for any court case and even apologized for what was going on. I know over the next few weeks we’re going to need the use of a process server again — glad we can call Matt. Totally professional and stand up guy.

I cannot say enough good things about Matt Sims. I hired him while evicting a tenant — he was reliable, fast, affordable, accommodating and very personable. On top of his stellar work performance.
I found myself in a bind with a second deadbeat Process Server I was working with — and at no cost to himself, on a weekend, and with good humor– Matt took the time to help me fix deal with that situation.
I would hire him again and again. It is unfortunate I need a legal issue to hire him — I wish everyone i encountered was as pleasurable and reliable to work with.
If you need a process server — hire Matt. Legal issues are stressful enough, and one person doing a stellar job, taking just a little stress off you makes all the difference.
