We spent a week on the Amalfi coast and got to eat at many great restaurants. Antica was best. Great atmosphere and setting. Great wine and dinner Great service. it has all the touches that make this a high end restaurant.

The indoor garden area created a great relaxed environment . The eggplant parm app was delicate and full of flavor. The ravioli with zucchini flowers, pine nuts and pesto sauce were excellent. The mixed seafood soup kept you wanting more. We selected items off the menu rather than a pre fixed selection especially since wine is my desert!

I would consider this one of the best meals of my life. Five star service, whimsical atmosphere, and excellent food. The lightly fried zucchini blossoms with ricotta and ham were my favorite, I also had the mussels in a marinara broth. Superb!

The wait staff was extremely friendly, and I had excellent service from the moment I walked in. My waiter spoke great English and was very accommodating. My expectations were exceeded. I’d highly recommend spending a bit more money to go here rather than the touristy, cheap spots in central Sorrento. It was beyond worth it.

Absolutely amazing! Great seafood! Wait staff was incredible! We were in Sorrento for 5 nights and this was our last stop… This place finished off our time in Sorrento on a really high note! You will not be disappointed! Also don’t forget to check out the kitchen… It’s just past the bathrooms, its immaculate!

I recently made a trip to Amalfi Coast and Sorrento. I had the privilege of visiting multiple Michelin star restaurants. But this restaurant, L’Antica Trattoria, stood out from the rest. We had lunch in this restaurant upon reading the review in Michelin guide. What a delight, what a delight! It’s located at the end of narrow streets in the shopping area. You enter the place with few steps and you’re in their patio. Given the weather we sat outside under the grape leaves. But inside is extremely well decorated as well. We all ordered different things. I went with an appetizer and a primi piatti as main course. Besides our orders, they also brought an amuse-bouche for everyone, and one serving of Burrata to share. I need to underline that they have not charged us for these. My starter was zucchini flower with ricotta filling. It was pretty good. It had a light yet complex taste. Good way to start a meal! My main course was lemon and shrimp tagliolini(angel spaghetti). It was like reaching the heaven while eating it. I still dream of that spaghetti sometimes I dream of popping up on the flight going back and eating just that. Last but not least: the service was superb. I had my daughters and they were treated like adults and they enjoyed big time as well. The staff really knew their business and it was a great experience. L’antica is not a cheap place. But if you like food I’d highly recommend you trying this wonderful place.

A friend set very high expectations for this place, but my husband and i were seriously unimpressed. The amuse bouche of a fried ravioli was interesting, but the entrée of the pork medallions left much to be desired. They were salty and somewhat overdone. I thought the dessert might redeem the meal, but when I was served a piece of cheesecake that was still frozen in the middle, I was done. The atmosphere seemed to vary between high end ristorante(I was subtly scolded by our server for refilling my own wine glass) and tourist trap(there was an extremely loud group of American tourists in the next room… and we’re Americans, too, so don’t call me a snob!). Our server was very attentive… and the strolling mandolin player was extremely talented… but I told our server if he played«That’s Amore» for me I would hit him… he played a lovely Italian song instead. There are many more satisfying dining experiences to be had in Sorrento… for much lower prices. Check out some of my other reviews! :)

We were told to go here by the concierge at our hotel, we also met another couple who were told to go here from their travel agent so we figured you can’t go wrong as that was two recommendations in one day. After a long day of sightseeing we were starving. L’Antica was good. I wouldn’t say it was amazing, which was frustrating as there are so many amazing places to eat in Sorrento!!! They did have many tasting menu options, even a Vegan menu which was a pleasant surprise. In addition to the tasting menus they also had ala carte menus that we decided to order off of. I do have to say my daughters pea soup was out of this world. My gnocchi’s were yummy as were my husbands raviolis. The prices were Rediculously High so my suggestion is to go here if it’s just a couple. We were here with our family so I thought it was pretty steep… Before going here I would check out some more affordable restaurants with probably just as good if not better food.

Brilliant for a special occasion — otherwise very expensive and therefore not 5* I would recommend skipping lunch if you are planning on doing one of the set menus(which if not it is v v v expensive — € 20 starter, € 30 main) We both went for € 44 ‘land’ set meal which included a starter, prima, main, sorbet and dessert however you also got breadsticks, continuous supply of bread basket, amuse bouche and cakes at the end Wine not included and varied in price from 24 – 70. 24 local was lovely! Everything was presented beautifully, waiters were good although as so busy not attentive always. The starter, pasta and main were set but it was nice to be able to choose dessert — also for chocolate lovers there is a beautiful hot pudding that isn’t on the menu which my bf was allowed to have Thoroughly enjoyed and would go back if I had the cash!

Way overpriced and way overrated. Having just spent five days in Tuscany where all the food was excellent no matter where we went, it I now challenging to find an authentic local place that does not cater to the tourist crowd. We had the bolognese, the spaghetti with clams and gnocchi. The gnocchi was a two star, the clams were good and the bolognese was the best of the three served with shredded beef. The service was good — wait staff were engaged.

We’ve been in Sorrento for 4 days now. We’ve tried quite a few restaurants for dinner. This one was very touristy. The service was fine, but the food just wasn’t worth the price. We found better food for less than half the price. We found that moving away from the center of town a bit and looking for places where the locals were watching football games on TV gave us better food at a better price.

Awful. Simply awful. Appetizers were ok, prices were through the roof, pasta was mealy, and service was snooty. As soon as they realized we were not planning on ordering wine, they looked down their noses at us. Our hotel recommended this place and it has a big reputation in town, but we found it to be poor quality food and condescending service.

I am sad to have to give this restaurant a 1 star review… the food quality was probably actually 2 stars, but the service was –1 so it evens out. We were surprisingly sat promptly, and then handed dining menu’s that offered 4 course tastings, and were forced somewhat to order all 3 courses right off the bat. We normally order as we go so we can enjoy each course, but they insisted and we obliged. We discovered quite quickly that this was a good thing: the first course little appetizer took 40 minutes to arrive! We immediately expressed concern, and we were told by a server that there was a large group inside delaying things. The outdoor section was probably half full. After our plates were cleared, our pasta second course took a solid hour to come. HOUR! Thank goodness our wine was drinkable. The main course came out shortly after, but when we finished that, we sat for a solid 15 minutes with NOONE checking on us. It was getting cold, so we stopped a busboy and asked if we could move inside, he led us in to a little table. We sat there for another 5 minutes before the boyfriend finally had it, no one had even taken our dessert order yet. He marched up to the counter in the back room and explained our situation, we had at this point been in the restaurant for a total of 3.5 hours. The server/manager person DIDNOTHING for us. He didn’t remove the desserts(that we never had)) from the total bill, did not apologize, and didn’t even make any excuses! I understand if things get backed up, although this was beyond excessive, but at least make an effort to take care of your customers. Very sad, this could be a wonderful restaurant if they stepped up the service. Don’t waste your precious vacation time in beautiful Sorrento at this terrible restaurant.

WOW. This restaurant was amazing. From the beginning we were excited because the ambiance is absolutely breathtaking. There is a lovely patio out front, and also a garden area inside with tables. The garden area is majestic. We got a complimentary amuse bouche of a vegetarian quiche. We ordered two appetizers: asparagus purée with poached egg, and the tempura fried zucchini flower. The asparagus purée could have used seasoning, but the zucchini flower was to die for!!! We ordered 4 other dishes(2 primi and 2 secundi): 1. filet mignon 5 ways: Literally five huge slices of delicious beef, each with a different sauce. It was amazing. Also came with potato croquette and sauteed spinach. 2. Pork tenderloin: Also amazing! Sweet pork with cabbage and potatoes with an apple blueberry reduction 3. Angel hair pasta with lemon and spinach. SERVEDINSIDE A LEMON! This dish is usually served with shrimp, but we ordered it vegetarian. It was a spectacular vegetarian pasta. 4. Spaghetti with beef ragout and squash. Delicious, simple, a great primi! We were stuffed and couldn’t order dessert and they still brought out a delicious little puff pastry stuffed with crème. Service was great, atmosphere and food were top notch.

Für mich der beste Laden in der Altstadt. Old School. Trotz seiner Größe durchaus familiär. Mittendrin, aber abseits vom Trubel. Sehr gutes und für die Lage preiswertes Essen, netter Service und ein sehr guter Vino die Tavola, der zum versacken einlädt.

This was supposed to be one of the top restaurants in Sorrento, but we thought it was over-rated and over-priced. Small portions, with more attention placed on the display than the flavors. For example, we had angel-hair pasta inside a lemon. Interesting concept, but the pasta was non-descript and not appropriately al-dente firm. Save your money and go to one of the many other great local restaurants in town.

Wow, this place had the most amazing food and atmosphere. We sat in the garden area and it was very enchanting. The service was very fast and attentive. I loved that they had a vegetarian tasting menu which included my favorite, fiori di zucca(fried squash blossoms) and the rest of the menu(angel hair tagliolini with lemon sauce and grilled vegetables) was absolutely fabulous. The only drawback was that our waiter practically threw us out of the restaurant in order to turn the table to get another party in(even though we had advance reservations). It was the first time in our three weeks in Italy that we didn’t have to ask(sometimes beg) for the bill. He dropped it off while we were still eating! I couldn’t believe it. It definitely left a sour taste in our mouth and is the only reason why I didn’t give them five stars. They also do not put ice in their buckets when you order white wine/water but instead just leave it in an empty bucket. Very strange, never seen this before. Bottom line, after dining at Il Buco* the night before we had our food(and service) standards set high and although L’antica delivered in the food department, the waiter who rushed us out definitely tainted the experience. Still a solid dining choice in Sorrento.

Lebenswert
