Muy mala atención. Al llegar la cuenta quisieron cobrar de más y lo reconocieron. Poco recomendable

In one word, we loved the place. The ambiance is quite authentic. We ordered pasta with broccoli sauce and it was really tasty though the portions were small comparing to other Italian restaurants. It is relatively expensive too.

I would love to comment on their food, but I can’t. We waited 20 minutes for service, but nobody helped us. Both tables next to us were seated, had their orders taken, and had their drinks and appetizers delivered. We even made eye contact with the waiters, but no luck. We got up and walked out. Really should be able to rate this 0 zero stars.

Wow out for visit from San Francisco Ca. for wonderful visit. Our driver Lorenzo who is from Sorrento recommended La Basilica and told us to get Margarita pizza. It was so good we were in Italy for 2 weeks and nothing came close. We also had Caesar salad also top notch.

I felt the meal was overpriced. We sat outside, we had a mozzarella carroza appetizer, lemon fish of the day and the chicken with peppers. The fish was over cooked, dry with no taste. The mozzarella was 18 euro and very doughy. The chicken was on the bone, it tasted good but was a lot of work. The last thing that really turned us off was that they put a tip card in the bill. It’s not customary to tip but they tried anyway.

Quiet restaurant with excellent food. Had zucchini blossoms stuffed with ricotta with tomato, basil and capers(wonderful); caprese salad and pizza that was some of The BEST!

Service is really bad and the food is on a average 2 with the portions being very small. The waiter is snobbish and talks rudely. Your money deserves to be at a better place!

Our tour guide(private tour not one of the larger groups) recommended this place. It is located in an alley and the ambiance is great… traditional Italian! I went here for dinner with a friend. Our guide recommended the pizza and pasta. Well, we decided to go for the gusto and we ordered the following: 1. Caesar salad… large enough to split between two people with good portions. The dressing was exceptionally good. 2. Cannelloni stuffed with meat– ummm, delicious! 3. Yes, we were pigs but wanted to try all the recommendations. We ordered the margherita pizza. This was the best we’ve had in Italy, including places in Rome! I also have to comment on the service. For the first time in Italy, the servers had a sense of urgency and were able to anticipate all of my requests. I know I am on holiday but still, a Type A personality likes good, quick service! As a side note, the wine list is extensive and also includes some wine from the US. I went with a local wine since I can have Silver Oak back home. This was a great place and I will definitely come back on my next trip over!

TOURISTTRAP. Looked inviting and menu was decent but the service was horrible. We ordered a couple of their specials and 4 out of 5 people hated their food.

If you know Italian food, this is one step above Olive Garden. Asparagus cream was too salty, ravioli was overall forgettable and clam risotto was sandy. We left the restaurant with the feeling of having falling prey to another tourist trap. Poor value for the money — avoid.

The food is similar to the cafeteria food you get in elementary school. Very basic stuff. Pasta is very soft and over boiled. If you miss school lunches and Chef Boyardee, eat here.

Gotta say, this was a great place to visit. We were skeptical at first but what a meal! We tried the caprese salad, Ceaser salad, crab ravioli, meatballs, chicken, gnocchi, etc., A guitarist played romantic Italian tunes to add to the experience! Definitely two thumbs up if ever in Sorrento.

This was a nice find in Sorrento. Generally the hotel’s recommendation is not the best. In this case it was a good choice. The owner wanders the dining room the whole time watching the staff. They have an interesting arrangement. One gentleman takes each table’s order and then you are served by a server. Since you are on the Gulf of Naples, go with the fish choices. We had an amazing Bufalo Mozzerella with Parma ham as an appetizer. We chose the mixed grilled fish grilled and the pasta with crab sauce. Both were delicious. especially the grilled fish. Terrific flavors. For dessert we had the assorted fruit ice. The local lemons added intense flavor. They of course served us complementary local Lemoncello to close out the meal. Part of the appeal of this spot is the crazy décor with assorted art depicting the explosion of Vesuvius. Also they have an amazing wine list.

Our driver from AP Tours recommended this restaurant to us(Sept ’13) and it was fantastic. It was a quiet spot and the service was very attentive. Every dish we had was absolutely delicious. We started with a pizza for appetizer, and it was the best we had during our time in Italy. My son loved his main course(ravioli) so much, that he ordered a second plate. The crab ravioli was out of this world. The house wines were great, too. Highly recommend.

This review is for two different dine ins. For the first dine in, we shared the seafood pappardelle(15 euro), 4 stagioni pizza(8 euro) and marguerite pizza(7 euro). We thought this was the best tasting meal we had on our 9 day honeymoon trip throughout Italy. The pizza was probably the best pizza we’ve had in Italy with a slightly thicker crust than the ones we had in Rome and tasted fresh. For this experience, we give it 5⁄5 stars. It was so good, we returned for lunch the following day. But the return experience was the opposite. The crab ravioli with zucchini sauce was so salty I only ate two out of the 4 pieces for 15 euro. The seafood pappardelle was also saltier than the day before and the portion was a but smaller than our prior dining experience. Thus we give it 3⁄5 stars for an average of 4⁄5 stars. The free bread and no cover charge was a plus. We’ve attached some photos. It is located at the end of a small alley way.

My wife and I had a fantastic meal and experience at La Basilica tonight. We had monkfish in lemon sauce and crab ravioli with zucchini sauce and both were excellent. The house red wine was great too. I felt guilty, but had to try their pizza as I heard it was incredible and they have a brick oven… I ate the entire thing! The waiter brought us some delicious limoncello and espresso to complete our meal… definitely will come back to this quiet, lovely, hidden gem in Sorrento.

The best pizza I’ve ever had in my entire life was from here. And I’ve eaten a lot of pizzas in my life. Their pizza was simple, not too many toppings. In fact, if I got this in the US, I’d be upset they skimped hard on the toppings. But I did learn true Italian pizza isn’t about piling on so many things that you can’t even see the crust. It’s about putting on a few fresh ingredients that go well together. On our long drive through the Almafi Coast:( ) we were starving when we finally arrived in Sorrento. We asked our driver where would he eat andhe recommended La Basilica Ristorante to us. The restaurant was located down an alley, away from the crowds of tourists. At first, we were skeptical but since it was daytime and there were 8 of us, what can possibly happen. It was especially alarming when the restaurant was near empty. But then again, we did ask the driver not to send us to a touristy restaurant. Once we sat down, the server brought us water and fresh bread. Perhaps we were really hungry but the fresh bread was amazing. Clearing up 2 plates of bread, I was afraid once the pizza came out I wouldn’t have the appetite to finish it. After one bite, I knew that wasn’t a problem. The combination of their sausage, mushrooms, cheese and fresh basil worked so well together. The crust was perfectly charred(see photo) but not at all hard. After the meal, I noticed everyone cleaned their plates. We were all treated very well by the staff as they tried to accomodate us in broken English. If I ever go back to Sorrento, this will definitely on my list. I just hope nothing will change.
