Tequila On Davis

Wasn’t expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised!
Despite our reservations about this place (it’s never mentioned on any lists of Mexican food in HK), we decided to give it a shot and at least try some appetizers that even a non-​Mexican restaurant has a chance of doing well.
We decided on the chips and guacamole, jalapeño and cheese empanadas, and chicken quasedilla.
The chips were still warm from being freshly fried (though not greasy), and seasoned with a sprinkle of paprika which added a nice little kick. When I first saw the guacamole, it looked too creamy and I suddenly expected the worst. However, despite was texture, the garlicky flavor and taste was pretty good. The jalapeño and cheese empanadas were fried in a hard pastry shell but once cracked open the gooey cheese spilled out. Dipped into the red salsa (which at first looked like bland tomato sauce) cooled the cheese and added a good balance of flavors. Lastly, the chicken quasedilla was nice and cheesy, but nothing exceptional — wasn’t bad just pretty standard.
Overall, I’m come back and even venture for a bit of the more risky Mexican foods to really give this place a true test, but risking my credibility I’ll go ahead a say this place isn’t half bad… at least on the appetizers.

Hands down my favourite low key Mexican place in Hong Kong.
They have great margaritas, awesome nachos and an intimidating collection of hot sauce.
The place is also very vegetarian-​friendly and has an extensive menu.
