10 minute walk from tinhau station, this place imo is the best ramen spot in hong kong! There are around 6 different ramen options but would recommend the white truffle or the earth black soup ramen. Price for a sit down meal would be around 100 – 130 hkd depending if you get a drink. Place tends to get filled quick during dinner due to limited seating but the wait shouldn’t be that long(worth the wait).

The ramen itself was not bad. I’ll start with that. However one of the guys working in the kitchen splashed oil over the table as he was spooning it into a bowl or something. It got all over my hair and jacket and I couldn’t get it off. The chef did not even apologize or give me any tissue. He seemed to pretend that it didn’t happen. Then we told one of the waiters what happened and he just gave me some tissue. My boyfriend got angry and told the guy at the cash register that I got oil all over my hair and shirt and he said something like, «this never happens to us.» So we were very disappointed by the poor service. It seemed like they just wanted to ignore the issue. I will not come again.

Food(***** out of *****); I have had ramen in Tokyo in some of the best ramen places. They serve really good ramen but I wasn’t a fan of the pork based tonkotsu broth. For a change of pace, Ramen Kureha serves ramen in a unique shrimp based broth. The soup is overflowing with shrimp eggs. It also contains fresh bouncy moderately large shrimp, a bit of chili oil, garlic, and seaweed. it is powerful, earthy, and tastes like the sea has been reduced into your ramen bowl. I normally don’t drink the ramen broth, but I drank every last bit of it this time. Atmosphere(***** out of *****); I felt like I was in old Tokyo(see my pics). Service(***** out of *****); I almost felt like I was in old Tokyo. They greeted me in Japanese, answered all my stupid questions, and let me take millions of photos like a Japanese tourist. Lol. Conclusion(***** out of *****); If you want to be transported through space and time back to old Tokyo, then Ramen Kureha is the place to be. Yeah, it is kinda expensive at 104HKD for a bowl of ramen, but time travel ain’t cheap.

One of my favorite ramen joints in Tai Hang. This place is always filled with people but because it has about 18 seats compared to the other places in the area that fit 10 or less. They have four standard soup bases: pork bone, black which is squid ink and garlic, red which is spicy, and green which has basil and cheese. You can customize your flavors however you like or let the chef decide! Service is always very friendly and they speak perfect English… So venture out here!

Stumbled upon this ramen joint accidentally, as I was intending to go eat at the restaurant further down the street. But because that place had a long wait, I decided to check this award winning ramen place out. Totally did not disappoint! Like all ramen places, this one is tiny. There are two bar seating areas only, with a max of maybe 10 – 12 seats. You order your bowl of ramen by marking on a piece of paper your order, and any preferences you might have(how soft you want your noodles, how concentrated you want the soup, any onions, garlic, etc.). When you are ready, you hand your paper to the waiter and wait for your noodles! I wanted the award winning bowl, which is supposedly limited to 30 bowls a day. But due to the complexity of the soup and the difficulty of acquiring the ingredients, they limit their 30 bowls to only Saturdays and Sundays. Since I went on a weekday, I ended up ordering their White Truffle Ramen. This was so delicious! The housemade ramen(you can see them make it in the kitchen) was perfectly cooked with the right texture, the 16 hour tonkotsu broth was super flavorful but yet light and refreshing, and the chashu was soft, fatty, and tender. Topped with some minced truffle, this was the best bowl of ramen I’ve had in a while. If this was this good, I wonder how good the limited edition award winning one tastes! This is definitely a must-try if in the area. Only a short walk from Tin Hau mtr station.
