This place has been around for years and I have no idea why we haven’t been here before, it’s a hidden gem!
The food is great, atmosphere cosy, really really good value for money, but the stand out is the service
Tom (not sure if he is the waiter or manager) just doesn’t stop! Nothing is too much trouble for him and everything is done so efficiently and effectively.

Really delicious food! I really loved the scallop dumplings. The food is as I would describe it «American style chinese». Really delicious but Not wholly authentic.

Hong Kong
The Manchu Chinese Restaurant is a funny little place that keeps changing its name. It used to be Bistro Manchu, a really well decked out venue with funky art and old school lamps, but since the name change, they have gone for a more minimalist approach, chucking out the artwork and stripping the walls back to white.
However, despite the cosmetic changes, the menu has pretty much remained the same, as what I would describe as accessible Sichuan food — not so authentic that it will blow your taste buds into next Tuesday, but good enough to give you the sweats.
The food is well prepared, and the portions are generous. I would recommend the deep fried salt and pepper squid, any of the aubergine dishes (even I as someone indifferent to aubergine likes them!), and of course the chicken deep fried with dried red chillies, which will definitely blow the cobwebs out. One small critique, if I may; the deep fried sweet and sour fish can sometimes be a little undercooked, so do ask for it to be well done. And don’t forget to get plenty of rice to soak up the yummy sauces.
The staff are great here, so friendly and accommodating, and full of good suggestions of dishes you may not have yet experienced. I am a pretty regular visitor, and I always get a good suggestion for something new each time I visit.
The atmosphere is a little bit dry since the refurb, but you can easily get past this with the good quality food.
