We came here for drinks and dessert. Drinks are Drinks so you can’t say much about those. But for dessert I had the churros. And I was sorely dissappointed!!! These little tiny toothpicks(ok, i’m exaggerating), that they call Churros, are so sad looking and don’t have any«meat» to them. I’d much more enjoy a churro that was«FAT». Good try Boqueria, but you failed with this option.

Good ambience and sangria! Tapas are good, specially patatas bravas! The décor of the place is very nice and the staff is very friendly. I particularly didn’t like their tortilla española but everybody else seemed to enjoy it. Definitely the target of the restaurant are expats in Hong Kong, as it was full by us!

Boqueria, originally a market, is one of my paradise in Barcelona. As a market collector, its Iberico selection, house made tapas, fruit platter… refined the spanish dining scene. This restaurant located at LKF tower is an extension of the NYC first store. Yes, come from the States. We went for a semi-lunch buffet the other day. The bar area presents Iberico and manchego cheese, toast with tomato paste(my must have dish while in Spain), olives, spanish croquette, champignon, salad etc. After some greedy bites of salad, salami and pan con tomate, we ordered mushroom salad(salteado de setas), meatball, pealla and hanger steak(carne a la plancha). And we finished after the five-star churros! Some personal preference: Iberico of course, shipped from Spain; croquette, cheese mixed with mashed potato, FRESH house made; churros, crispy outside-in, hot from the kitchen, dip in the melt chocolate, forget about the calorie… You will impress your client if you take him/her here for a business lunch.

This review is mainly about the weekend brunch. I just came here for brunch for the first time, i actually didn’t know they had it until we came here expecting tapas today. Apparently it started after Father’s day. The brunch is $ 238 per person plus 10% service charge which is less than what some places in the area charge. For another $ 128, you could get the free flow drink option, which includes fresh juices, DIY sangria, wine and cava. There are three parts to this brunch, no actually four parts: the salad bar — which was not a huge selection, there were two cheeses to choose from, a few salads and a few cold cuts plus a gazpacho that didn’t taste too good. Second part is like a dim sum order form. they gave us a piece of paper with a few selections of spanish tapas, like oysters, patatas bravas, croquettes, etc. We could ask for as many portions as we wished. Third part were again similar to the dim sum concept, where they push around carts and you can choose whatever you liked. So they had a station with chicken wings and spanish tortillas, salmon, paella(which was not yummy at all) and suckling pig(which was suppppper moist and yummy). Finally, the last part are the desserts. They had literally 3 things on the buffet table, a chocolate cake, bite sized churros(with no chocolate sauce accompaniment, and fruit skewers. I was a wee bit disappointed there. The vibe was cool, packed with people and because of the food carts moving around, there was a lot of interaction. I think I would definitely bring my friends back here again.

Boqueria happy hour(or La Hora Barcelona) has got to be the best deal in town. $ 188 for all you can drink beer, red sangria and tapas from the bar buffet from 6−8pm(Monday through Saturday). In my opinion it’s a great girls’ night option although one of the last times I went there was literally a table of twenty businessmen making a serious dent in the tapas spread not to mention the beer. I sometimes find these kind of deals frustrating as service can seem deliberately slow so that you don’t feel like you’re getting your money’s worth. Well, this is NOT the case at Boqueria where I literally find my glass topped up every time I turn around and there is always plenty of food, especially the jamon… yum yum yum. Last night the girls and I popped in for post work drinks and tried out the new grapefruit based Pink-ish Sangria. It’s weaker than regular sangria as the only alcoholic component is white wine, but it was seriously good and a really good option if you’ve got a long night of drinking ahead of you… which always seems to be the case in this town. Dinner is also really fun at Boqueria — you can get loud without worrying that you’re ruining everyone else’s night and the sharing nature of tapas just generally lends itself to good vibes. I personally can’t get enough of new seafood dishes, many of which are raw. I feel like Spanish food has this bad wrap of being oily/fried/salty but dishes such as the Scallop Ceviche and Razor Clams at Boqueria set the record straight. You could actually have a genuinely healthy meal really easily here… unless you’re me in which case you can’t help but place a double order for the Bikinis. Melted cheese… it gets me every time. Great for groups, especially in the evenings. The brunch is pumping too!
