The place is not soundproof so you will be heard from outside. Only two mic are given no matter how big your group is. This was my first time here in Toronto and I would not waste my time coming here if it wasn’t for my friends. It’s really waste of money but if you enjoy it then this place is pretty clean and nice and has a lot of selections.

I don’t want no Scrubs… or any mediocre karaōke place bringing me down! Though this place isn’t that bad, it isn’t the shining star of karaōke spots. I’ve been here a few times now and my most recent visit may have been my most confusing(but still fun). I organized a party for 14 of us to go eat Korean food and then boogie on down to sing some top notch karaōke. We weren’t in the place more than 10 min. and the hostess came down to tell us we had to move rooms. It wasn’t the best but we managed to move everyone into a VERY small room. We went from being able to dance around to hardly being able to move. But hey that’s what the cheap beers are for right? For song selection it actually was pretty okay. We didn’t end up using the books at all and instead we just searched everything from the controller which was fine. Over all we had fun and by the end of it we forgot how small the room was and just focused on how some of our friends may or may not be tone deaf.

Mediocre service and the karaōke equipment is super jenky. Would not recommend coming here, I’m sure there are better places to karaōke in Toronto

Reserved ahead of time and paid for a VIP room($ 72/hr) but they stuffed us into a smaller room and people had to sit on couch arms and stand because they didn’t honor their reservation. We paid for one hour and were told we would be able to switch to a bigger room afterwards because it was taken. After the first hour ran out and some people had left due to cramped space, we went to renew for a second hour and the old guy at the front kept yelling and being really mean when we asked to pay per person because we had less people. We even offered to stay in the same room and not upgrade to a bigger room. He refused and charged us the same $ 72 rate. This place has gotten more and more rude the last few times I’ve visited. Not planning to return and will not recommend to any of my friends. Try gorhe gorhe or freezone down the street their service is nicer.

HAD A BLAST! WE were planning to go to a place near there but it was full so we decided to check out this little hole in the wall place. Little did we know we would have an amazing time at this karaōke bar. None of my group of friends were Korean or Asian but we had hundreds of songs in English that we could sing from. We only paid $ 6.00 per person cuz we entered the bar during happy hour. The rooms were very comfy and the attendee was really nice to turn on the AC. Overall a great experience will come again.

I can’t say I’m a huge fan of this place for a number of reasons: 1) Arbitrarily shuffled around from a drinking to non-drinking room meaning we had to quickly down all our alcoholic bevvies. 2) Mediocre collection of English songs(especially compared to Bar Plus) 3) Dated equipment /décor. I have a soft spot for the coin operated bubble machine in the basement though. 4) Mediocre sound insulation. I don’t expect perfect noise insulation but sometimes it sounded like we were competing with the neighbouring room.

I come here quite often and I have to say one of my favourite places :) I love their collection of songs, and their system is quite easy to use. I also love how they have happy hours from monday-wednesday. I usually go with one or two people, and we pay $ 20(together) and stay for 2 – 4 hours. I would say it’s a bit pricy, but it’s cheaper than most of the other karaōke bars I Know of. They also have a wide selection of songs in various languages(I usually only sing korean/english, so I don’t really know about the others) It’s not a very fancy place but I do really love how the place is decorated. I don’t like their washroom. not sure why it’s just creepy, and the floors are bad The staff is really friendly, they helped with all the problems we had so far, I can see many people complaining about them being busy, but maybe because we usually go on weekdays(mon-fri) around 3. I have never really seen this place being busy :\ but maybe it’s just me Although they do accept credit cards, their machine doesn’t really work well, last time I went I had to go out and find a atm machine(I found one at one of the food place near the karaōke bar) and then come back here so I can pay with cash, so it’s best to have cash with you when you go there

Went for my birthday last night. The staff member took our money and then said, oh you can only drink in the downstairs rooms, so we begged for a room downstairs. The staff member finally relented we ordered 12 beers and other snacks, and headed down to the basement. The bigger private Karaōke rooms downstairs have a moldy basement like stench to them. I’d put my coat over the leather couches before sitting down on them — if you know what I mean;) Music selection was good — but wish they had a directory by artist, rather than just song title. There was a mix up in our reservation we asked for an extra hour and we ordered 12 additional beers and then 5 minutes later the hostess told us we had to leave the room was reserved by someone else… The owner gave us a really hard time about a refund, and actually told us to drink the remainder of the beers in the corner in the hallway outside — or he would call the cops! — I have a family of cops so I’m not sure that would have gone over well with the owner. His staff was scared of him, and told us the owner was crazy. We finally got our refund… I wouldn’t come here again as it left a bad taste in my mouth because of that, and there has got to be cleaner Karaōke bars with full service alcohol in all the private group rooms.

We went there on a Saturday night and had the worst experience you can imagine. Our party of 8 was automatically billed for 1 hour without even asking if we wanted the option of having drinks… honestly, who goes to a karaōke bar without having drinks? If that were the case we should’ve just stayed home. After clarifying things they accommodated with a room, but things got worse when we wanted to extend the time for an extra hour. They allowed us to pay in advance for our drinks but not allow us to extend the time. When we asked the manager he insisted that since the drinks were already open that we were liable for our beverages but could not guarantee us another hour. What kind of business will sell you alcohol but not give you a proper place to enjoy it. When asked this the manager replied by saying that we could finish our drinks in the hallway but could not give us the room. In all honesty why would we even come to your establishment if we couldn’t enjoy the drinks in the karaōke room? The manager even had the nerve to say that he was going to call the police on us… seriously I will never go back again and I hope that whoever reads this post does the same. Definitely hands down the worst customer experience, considering the fact that we had already paid for services. DONOTGOHERE!!!

Easy to use karaōke system with tons of Western songs to choose from! Songs are only listed in alphabetical order by song name. Most of the time when people choose songs, they think of artist first. Would be nice if they had another listing that’s by artist. I like the disco ball lights that shine and echo-ey mics! Fun times always here.

Karaōke… the joy of many… the bane of others. I personally love Karaōke, but I am used to be at a bar with a bunch of other people who were half in the bag trying to think if they wanted to put their name up to do a song. BMB Karaōke was my first experience in a dedicated Karaōke bar. where you by default are going there to drink and to sing in front of your friends or in my case random Unilocalers in the the Toronto area. This event held by Community Manager Evelyn was not just a good time… but a great time! Each of the rooms had its own dedicated large panel lcd display and your choice of thousands of songs(mostly in Korean, but there was a selection of English tunes as well) The lower level of BMB is licenced, so if your looking for a few libations ask for a room downstairs. Mood lighting, strobe lights and lasers all when you singing your songs make you feel like a rock star and most of the time your singing to people you somewhat know, so this way you don’t get booed off stage! The beer is cheap. the music is flowing and the fun is a having. sure to be back!

I had a BLAST here last night at the Cheap Pours and Sticky Floors event! Special thanks to the lovely Evelyn and Unilocal for a night of super fun good times. I never do karaōke. The last time I went was probably five years ago. Last night reminded me how much fun it is to belt one out with some awesome peeps. All you need is some liquid courage to get started and someone to pull you out towards the mike(shout out to Karen’s awesome friend for physically dragging me out). There seemed to be a big selection of almost any song you could think of. I enjoyed the random scenery videos playing on the karaōke screen along with the lyrics(think scenes of bears frolicking during Vanessa Carlteon’s 1000 miles song — super random and mega awesome). The only thing I should point out is that it was very very HOT in our room last night. Mostly due to a torrential downpour outside, it got a wee bit muggy. Nothing a few drinks couldn’t fix however ;) really feeling the effects of the Soju today! Good times were had by all. I will definitely return!

Evelyn was hosting a Unilocal event at BMB yesterday evening as part of the«Cheap Pours and Sticky Floors» theme. This place is literally right across the street from the Markham street exit at Bathurst station. This was my first experience going to dedicated karaōke establishment. While I’ve been to bars that have karaōke nights this is the first place I’ve been to where this is their main gig. On the main floor they have rooms but they don’t serve on that floor. We ended up in the basement where they are allowed to serve and we had a rather large room that ended up being a group of about 20 or so at one point. I’m 6’3″ so this basement for me was kind of tight. While there wasn’t anywhere I had to really duck and watch my head after getting to the basement the ceiling is sort of low. If you’re taller than me you’re going to want to get to the couch and have a seat. I could touch my head to the ceiling if I went on my tip toes. The room seemed kind of stuffy but an attendant came in and turned on the AC. You figure with a group of people being in one room that things would heat up a bit. The couch was huge and there were mini coffee tables to put our drinks. Evelyn had ordered bottles of beer and some sake type of drink that I didn’t have. The attendant came in with two fat books and this controller that looked like you needed a degree from MIT to use. It seriously looked like some sort of NASA remote to control the Mars lander it was so large. I swear it must have had over 150 buttons on it. Anyway the books were the songs catalogue but it was larger than it seemed. The books were color coded by language. The orange section is the only section that was relevant to me as it was the only section in English. This made up maybe about 1⁄5 of the book total. The songs list was all in «name of song» order. I had wished there was a reverse index by artist. Sometimes you just know an artist better and you want to see what you can see by the artist. I prefer that method actually. The list didn’t have a lot of what I was looking for either and I’m not sure how up to date the list was. I wasn’t expecting any top 40 songs from say this summer but there were plenty of songs I was looking for that they didnt’ have. So basically you need to find your song, punch in the code on the remote and queue it up to play. The display shows what codes are in queue and what song is next. The system seemed like it needed an update of newer songs if not definitely more songs. I ended up singing: U2 — With or Without You Frank Sinatra — New York, New York Radiohead — Creep When you get some drinks in you and some good songs it’s time for some good fun. We had a really good time that night. I had bought some beers which were 5 bucks each. It was nice having a room large enough to have that many people enjoying themselves. The machine itself I didn’t actually see it. All I know is there was 2 mics coming out of something and the TV is what we were reading from.

Bmb is considered to be one of the bigger karaōke joints in Ktown, but bigger in this case ain’t necessarily better. There’s two floors of karaōke space with about 5 rooms per floor, the bar is located in the basement and ONLY the basement is licensed so there’s no drinking on the main floor. Service is either really nice or epically terrible depending on who is helping you. Food selection is pretty sparse, it’s pretty much just soft drinks, chips and cup ramen noodles. Blergh! As for the Karaōke quality itself, the song menu is heavy on the Korean chunes obviously, and lacking in the English so don’t expect to be singing Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda anytime soon! I’ve been here twice, the first time I was drunk so obviously it was a good time since I didn’t remember fuck-all, the second(and last) time wasn’t so great… it was a Saturday and I called BMB in advance for pricing info and the nice young lady was super sweet and helpful. I arrived shortly after the phone call and used my credit card to pre-pay for 8 people for a 2 hour block in a «drinking room» in the basement which came out to $ 96. Only 6 of the party arrived on time so we asked the young lady at the desk to look out for our 2 other friends and to let them in without paying since obviously we’d prepaid. When our two friends later joined us they said there was a kerfuffle at the front desk and an older Korean man(who I’m assuming is the owner?) had yelled at the nice young lady who helped us earlier and made her visibly quite upset, they also told my friends they had to pay to come in!?! I went to the front desk to rectify the matter and noticed the nice young lady was now gone and replaced by an older woman with a bad home perm and a nasty case of resting bitchface. I spoke to the older Korean man and he refunded me the cash my friends had paid. I decided to ask if we could extend our time in the room since we were beginning to have fun and I got salty kurtness from resting bitchface telling us that we only had our remaining time and that maybe there’d be a possibility of another room freeing upstairs in the non drinking section, but probably not!?! Unless your idea of a fun karaōke night involves being in a musty basement with poor ventilation and a busted A/C drinking watered down alcoholic beverages and using washrooms that stink of piss, and on top of all that receiving SHADY service, then take a pass on BMB and head over instead to XO just down the street.

I visited BMB because I was with a large group on a Saturday night: not likely to get a room anywhere else. Obviously, there’s a good reason that BMB had space on Saturday night, because this was undoubtedly one of the worst karaōke experiences I’ve had in a long, long time. Firstly, the pricing scheme makes no sense. We were charged per PERSON for our room. It shouldn’t matter to them how many people are in the room. They have 2 mics per room, and music only plays one song at a time. They should have tiers for sizes of room(small, medium, large); they should not charge per person. They squeezed our group of 12 into a smallish room, where three people didn’t even have a seat, but of course they’re incentivized to force us into a small room, because they make money for every person that goes into this room. Hello, fire hazard? Secondly, the music selection is extremely poor. They have binders that are only organized by the name of the song title, and while the binders are on the larger side, only about 20 – 30 pages of the binder are English songs. The rest of the binder have random pages of Thai, Spanish, Russian, Viet songs, a sizable collection of Korean songs, and you can see at the top of the page that the last time these books were updated were in 2011… how do I emphasize numbers? Two thousand and ELEVEN. They haven’t been updated in three years, Unilocalers! For the past three years, they’ve been hastily adding single page updates to the back of the book, so if you want even a hope of singing a song that was released in the past three years, you have to flip through and scan un-ordered pages for the past three years… and let’s be honest, those pages don’t include the latest hits of the month. Thirdly, the equipment is shitty and hard to navigate! The microphones kept cutting in and out, and what’s the point of coming to karaōke if it’s not to hear your own voice booming loudly through the speakers? All of their equipment is in Korean, and it’s very unforgiving to the users. We definitely accidentally skipped songs and entered songs we didn’t mean to sing, because we couldn’t figure out how to use the equipment. The only redeeming quality of this karaōke bar is that nobody wants to go to it, so you can go on a Saturday night without a reservation… but your money is probably better spent elsewhere. Will be avoiding this place at all costs.

I did not leave this place with a good impression in my first visit. There were 6 of us and we were all told to pay upfront in order for us to get a room. We all paid a minimum of $ 5 and after that, every hour we decide to stay is another $ 5. It was a mess because more people came and some people left. Our bill was short since nobody kept track of who paid or not. The worker there told us two of our friends didn’t pay before they left, however, they argued that they did. It was just a very unpleasant and disorganized night. None of us ordered drinks until a bit later. The worker told us that if we wanted to order alcohol we would have to move downstairs. We were never given a proper reason to why we weren’t allowed to drink in the room we were in. Anyway, we moved downstairs. Everything you order, you would have to pay upfront. $ 5 per person/hr. Beer is market price: $ 5. It was kind of annoying having to run up and down the stairs when we wanted to order more alcohol. One down fall about this place is that there isn’t a service button/phone. Another, is that it gets really hot in the rooms. It feels like you’re in a sauna; no kidding! There’s no AC but, you can turn on a small fan that’s hung in the corner of the room. However, even with that, it does not do much justice. They have a pretty wide selection for English songs. Whatever’s in the Top 100 billboards you will find it. Like any karaokes, they have old school artists like the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, etc. After that night, I told myself it was not worth it to come back. However, I came back for a second shot with my cousins. We went on a Wednesday and it was only $ 5 per person, all you can sing from 3pm to 9pm. It’s a pretty good deal if you ask me! Fortunately, I had a blast(besides the heat) with my cousins. Overall, this place is only worth going during the weekdays from 3pm to 9pm. You will definitely save the hassle from having to get up to pay every now and then and also, keep track of who paid or not. Also… if you don’t mind being in a room that reaches 30+ Celsius.

We went to BMB tonight. Although I do enjoy the karaōke, I think the place is really horrible. 3 of us went in and paid up front for 2 hours for 10 people($ 120). Then, when our friends came in, they charged all of them separately and they all paid the guy at the front. When we asked our friends for the money, they said they already paid at the front, which we weren’t expecting since we’d already paid for everyone with the $ 120. So, we went to the front to complain and ask and they would not give us our money back. They were so completely rude and uncompromising. So, we ended up loosing almost $ 90 in this event. It was really bad and I would advise every one to stay away from this place. It really sucks. Never go and tell all of your friends never to go as well.

There are many private rooms with disco balls and fun lighting. There’s a lot of korean options for songs and a few updated songs in English. The layout of the song selection book is a bit confusing. The staff is really nice and helpful.

Decent prices by the hour but you get what you pay for. The rooms are decent in size but not much air circulation going on. The leather sofas don’t seem to have much life left in them. I’m sure people sit, sleep, stand, and jump on them(among other things…). The song selection wasn’t the greatest, I’ve definitely seen better. You must search by title. I like it when there are sections sorted by artist just in case you can’t remember song names. All the background videos are(mostly) Korean dramas. Personally, I enjoy the original videos when singing English songs. Oh, you get a rating after every single song. I found that to be a slight nuisance. There should be a button where you can opt out(maybe there is but we just didn’t know about it). I guess it boosts the confidence and ego when you consistently score in the high 90s or 100… I don’t think there’s a point to even have it because we never saw a score lower than 96. Snacks and drinks are somewhat pricey for what they are. One bag of Halloween sized chips for a buck, full sized bag for $ 4, etc… Bathrooms in the back are kinda sketchy. Both men’s and women’s doors are permanently open. The back door is also propped open. I almost killed myself because the floor tiles were broken in a washroom stall and I nearly fell over potentially smashing my head on the toilet…(No, alcohol was not a contributing factor.)… Death trap. I hope they fix that. I had fun in a group nonetheless. We just wanted a place to sing!

//If you have not tried the karaōke in Toronto, Koreatown is the place to go. Plan is quite simple, book a room and staff will give you a book with all the available songs in it(choice is very impressive). Funny detail is that whatever the song you choose you will have a video background of a cheezy asian drama, copyright you know how it goes. you can order drinks while you sing and that is when it becomes funny. Well this is definitely a great moment to enjoy in K-town!
