Freezone Karaoke

Been to this place several times with groups around 8 – 16 people. It is so much fun and a fair price.

After hopping around a couple of karaōke bars at midnight on a Saturday, and finding out they were full and we’d have to wait 30+ minutes, we ended up coming here and got a room within 10 minutes. For a group of 6, it came out to $ 60 for 2 hours, so $ 10 each, which we paid at the beginning.
The room fit us all comfortably. There is a HUGE selection of Korean songs (even a lot of recent ones), but not so much for English. They have a lot of notable English pop songs, both old and new (ish… maybe from like 3 or 2 years ago) but if you’re looking for anything really recent, you won’t find it here.
Nevertheless, it was a very fun experience. Or maybe I’m just saying that because of the alcohol we consumed and the group of friends I was with.
It was quite expensive for alcohol: 2 smirnoff ice and a bottle of soju for $ 32, but once you start taking a couple shots, the price doesn’t seem to matter anymore…
If I’m ever in the area and other karaōke bars are closed, I would come here again, but as a first choice, maybe not. I’d probably go and explore other karaōke bars until I find one that I’m completely satisfied with. But I guess, like they say, «it’s not where you are, it’s who you’re with.»

If you’re looking for a late night karaōke bar in downtown Toronto, Freezone Karaōke is a great choice.
Down a flight of stairs, Freezone is situated below ground level in a nondescript building, but walking into the reception area feels like stepping into a friend’s basement. Save for the cash register at the counter, the whole establishment provides a homey atmosphere. As a party of four, a small room was only $ 20 an hour ($ 5 per person) with no additional charges, paid up-​front in cash before allowed access to a private karaōke room. Drinks are also available at the counter (alcoholic and otherwise).
The rooms maintain the friendly atmosphere with their pleather couches and disco lights. As it is a Korean karaōke bar, song selection favored Korean songs, but songs in English were plenty and kept recent with songs released only one to two years before this review. Freezone Karaōke is private rooms only establishment, so there’s no chance of embarrassing yourself in front of the whole bar. However the walls are a little thin and we were able to hear the party next door belting out their version of Backstreet’s Back.
Overall, Freezone Karaōke (aka. JaYu GongGan Karaōke) offers a pleasant karaōke experience at an affordable price. Staff was pleasant and accommodating; we added an extra half hour to our session and despite going over extra time by 10+ mins, we were still only charged for the additional half hour. Go with close friends. Bring your game, leave your insecurities at home and you’ll have an awesome time.

This is the first Karaōke Bar I’ve ever been to in my life! Came for my friends 22^nd birthday, and needless to say, we had a great time! Arrived the night of (om a Thursday) and were able to get a room without reservations. Between the four of us, it cost $ 20… $ 5 per person ain’t bad! We booked it for an hour, and walked down the hallway to our room, number 6 (think there were about 8 rooms total).
The room was tiny, but cute! Had 2 leather sofas and 2 song books to search through. Included inthe book was a wide selection of Korean, Fillipino, and English songs. There was also a tiny little dico ball in thw room which helped set the mood!
Didn’t end up buying any drinks because we were having enough fum sober haha! I usually am not even comfortable singing infront of others, but with the amount of fun I was having here with my friends, there was no way I could not!
If you’re looking for an affordable karaōke bar to go have a fun night out with, I’d recommend this place. Right across thw street from Christie station too, so easily accessible for everyone :)

Clean and nice place with instant noodles. Not the best karaōke though. Song selection was bad. You get what you pay for I guess.

You get a private room, and drinks are a reasonable price. But at the end of the day (night?)… It’s 60 dollars and hour.

I have a terrible voice, but I love karaōke. We had dinner at Bathurst and Bloor so walking over here was a good way to walk our large dinner. I almost missed Freezone; you walk a few steps down to the basement level of the building to get your singing on.
Pricing isn’t too bad. It’s actually quite reasonable if you’re with some friends for a night out.

I was hesitant to book a large room at this place because of the lack of reviews (though all 3 were good) & there are many other well-​known karaōke places in the same area. Freezone Karaōke deserves a review (albeit, a long one) & will definitely be back again!
Freezone Karaōke is right across from Christie Station on the Bloor TTC line, the sign is fairly easy to find with the studio physically being downstairs. The place is quite clean: the lobby area, the rooms, & even the bathrooms — which I’m usually picky about with most of the customers being boozed up & sweaty from singing their hearts out. It was fairly busy since it was a Saturday night (peak day & time), but I could easily make reservations a week in advance & confirm the total attendance a day or two before the actual reservation date.
I think their prices are great, though I’m used to spending absurd amounts of money at karaōke places in Markham because we add food and tons of beer that gets lost in the minimum room cost. I rented their largest room to house around 18 people, came up to $ 60/​h — taxes included. I didn’t know taxes were included so I had a very nice surprise at the end of the night since I though I’d be spending more. The staff are really friendly, not rude or pushy — which can ruin a karaōke experience. Ended up with only 13 people instead of 18 (same room size I believe), but would have housed 18 people comfortably. There was even room at the front for a «stage» area so you can show off those Beyonce moves you’ve been saving up ;)
Rooms are clean, but initially smelled like the walls were sweating when you walk in — it fades away after a few minutes (probably because you get used to it). It has large faux leather couches, which are comfy but generate a lot of heat when you’re all sweaty from that ballad or quintessential Queen Bohemian Rhapsody. Unfortunately the room (s) didn’t have air conditioning, so that didn’t help — dress lightly people! Interior design of the studio & rooms were simple, a bit retro but felt homey with friends and not too modern & pretentious (though I love that look haha). Soundproofing is good, couldn’t hear any noise from adjacent rooms — couldn’t say the same for them though, we may have just been loud ourselves. They even offer free wifi for uploading those embarrassing moments & singing selfies!
The prices for beer are reasonable: $ 5 for domestic (Canadian, etc.), $ 5.50 for «fancy» domestic (Steam Whistle, etc.) and $ 6 for imported & vodka based bottles (Heineken/​Smirnoff, etc.). I believe they have mixed drinks with a good serving size in red solo cups, but haven’t tried (just yet) so I don’t know how strong they are or the price — friends seemed to enjoy it though!
They didn’t serve any food, which I didn’t mind since I don’t go to karaōke to eat. They let you bring our own food as long as it isn’t over the top/​messy. We only brought a few bags of chips but I inquired about a party pizza being delivered there and they said that was fine — may try next time.
They have a pretty good English song list which is updated and posted on Facebook every month — which I love. I wish there were more songs (new & old), but had most of the staple karaōke ones, so I was happy. Unfortunately they’re not completely listed in alphabetical form since it’s updated regularly. So they have each update in alphabetical order by song title, which make it difficult to find songs especially when you want to look for a particular artist & not just a song title (i.e. Backstreet Boys/​Spice Girls of course).
The system itself is easy to use with responsive remote & microphones; good quality of sound for speakers and mic. Microphones are wired (long wires) but I still prefer wireless. Was funny that they scored singers at the end of every song, not used to that but they’re pretty generous ;). Music itself wasn’t completely midi or original, it was a good mix of the two which I didn’t mind — it adds to the karaōke experience. Music videos were of random Korean music videos, but we’re sort of related to the emotional appeal of the song — nice touch. It beats random landscaping any day, but I still prefer original music videos that some places have.
Accommodating staff, cozy atmosphere, clean facilities, responsive system but needs a better song book listing. What I like the most about this place is that there is transparency with this studio; other studios don’t have pictures of their facilities & rooms, and don’t post prices or updated song lists like Freezone does. Great bang for your singing buck — this will probably be my go-​to Karaōke studio in the Korean town area!

The best Karaōke in Korea town, and among the best in the city. The rooms are well sized and I love the terrible videos that in no way match the music you are singing. The selection is fantastic although I do feel like some obvious choices are missing. That said, the price for a room is very fair, the beer is reasonable and I have never had anything but an amazing time here.

Time after time, I find myself returning to this great karaōke joint in korea town. You get your own private room so you can create you own «Lost in Translation Moment» :)
The song selection is pretty vast, lots of golden oldies all the way to today’s hits! The rooms come with tambourines (to add more awesome to your karaōke experience), a disco-​ball to make it feel like a rockin’ party, and they have an okay selection of alcohol to help you break the ice and sing that first song.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a private room karaōke experience. Great for birthdays, reunions, or any ol’ day! You’ll have fun, guaranteed!

If you’re looking to have good, old-​fashioned fun at a karaōke bar, this is the place to be.
The mics have WIRES. hahahah yah… in this day and time with all of our wireless tech and rechargeable funtimes, Freezone promises that you will get ridiculously tangled up — especially if you’ve been drinking all night long: P
Seriously speaking though, this place is run by ahjummas (we only run into the aunties when we come lol) who are incredibly efficient, tidy and nice. The place smells great, which is important because we used to frequent BmB but that place smells like a sweaty swimming pool — i understand the need to mop… but at least use something that masks the three cups of bleach you poured into that water loll jk jk or am i close to the truth? :P
anyway, the price is fair — 20 $/​4people/​hr $ 25/​5people/​hr … $ 40/6−10people/hr andddd $ 60/12−15people/hr

but they do have a fair selection of other languages, including Vietnamese — now, we may have misunderstood the process when she explained to us, but if what I got from her explanation is right, here’s where the old-​school kicks in:
You switch the button on the box — it alerts the ahjumma sitting outside that you’re gonna be singing in let’s say, Vietnamese — she gets a computer message with the number of the song you want to sing — she searches her karaōke dvd collection for that song — she pops it in – you get to sing — repeat everytime you wanna sing a song from that selection
we felt it was too much of a hassle, and she’s so nice so we didn’t use that selection: P
We sang for hours and hours… got mighty drunk and then stumbled over to christie station and went home.

The only downs would be that there aren’t that many rooms, and this place is hella popular after like…10pm? sooo call ahead and book!
also, although i was joking about the wired mics, they ARE a safety hazard when you’re all tipsy and falling everywhere lol
other than that, if you’re coming this weekend, we’ll see you there hahaha: P
