History

Established in 2003.

The building that houses this attraction was the original Spirella Corset Factory, built in 1907. It was the first poured concrete building ever made in Canada. The building then became home to the famed Niagara Falls Museum in 1958, with its world-renowned collection of Egyptian mummies and artifacts. Amazingly, as seen on National Geographic, it was discovered the museum had been home to the actual mummy of King Ramesses I! Yes, that would be the Pharaoh from the story of Moses in the bible. Fortunately the Pharaoh was safely returned back to Egypt and given a king’s welcome ceremony. The rich history of this property was fully preserved in the construction of Bird Kingdom making the experience even more unique. Enjoy more about the history of the building in the photos displayed in the Old Museum.

Bird Kingdom also has an authentic Javanese House inside the main aviary that dates back 125 years!
