A tester !

Really nice waiter/owner/host. Very tasty traditional Flemish cuisine. Nice beer recommendations. Quiet local’s neighborhood.

Food is delicious. We had the shrimp curry pasta and beef stew. Host recommended a great beer pairing for the food(a blond for the curry and a strong dark beer for the stew). Only downside is that the service is a bit slow since the owner was the only person busing but he was very friendly.

Best dinner that we had in all of Europe! My husband and I loved the ambiance – the place is beautiful. Sitting by the warm stove and listening to the lively music was restful and romantic. The service was so friendly and helpful. We highly recommend the Flemish stew and muscles. It was worth a small walk a few minutes away from the Markt. You won’t regret going!

What a great find through Unilocal. We love this pub-like restaurant. It is warm and cozy with great blues music. The proprietor is friendly and enthusiastic. There is a nice selection of beers and other beverages. And the food is awesome. We both ordered Waterzouie — chicken vegetable soup/stew from Ghent. It was a welcome dish on a cool evening after an off on on rainy day in Brugge. The portion is large and the favors are delicious. It is loaded with chicken and vegetables, spices and cilantro. They use whole coriander seeds which add incredible flavor. The service is friendly, the place is cozy and the food is delicious. Again, the music really adds to the environment. We will go back to try some of the other dishes that look so good.

Gebratene Blutwurst… mmmh sabber. Charming.

Get the Flemish stew if you like yourself! Seriously, it was excellent and we’ve tried it at other places and it doesn’t compare. Loved the décor and the atmosphere of this restaurant. Great spot for apps and drinks, a full meal, or just dessert. I know it is a little out of the way, but seriously either walk or take a cab! It is worth it! If we go back to Bruges, I’m eating here at least once. We are here twice on out visit to Bruges. The owners were helpful when we asked for recommendations and answered all out questions about the menu. I want to go back and we just left after our second meal here. Everything was superb!

On our first night in Bruges, we weren’t sure where to go for dinner. We were paging through one of Rick Steves’s guidebooks and saw that this place was recommended and, as a bonus, it was literally two doors down from the B&B at which we were staying. Since we were tired from our journey from Brussels and the long walk from the train station, laziness won out and we came here for dinner. We were greeted and served by the owner/proprietor, who was very accommodating in explaining the specials in perfect English for us. We came early, before six, because we were pretty hungry. We both enjoyed some delicious Belgian beer on tap(Kaiser Karel for both of us to start). I had the salad with warm goat cheese, bacon, apples, and honey. I think my tastebuds died and went to heaven with that selection. It was perfect in every way, and the best part were the greens(!). Being on vacation meant we ate like absolute crap the entire week, so it felt good to eat some greens. … Just kidding, the warm goat cheese wrapped with bacon was the best part of the salad, but the greens were a very close second. My husband had the bruschetta with ham, which he liked but wasn’t quite as filling as my meal. He followed up with a second, dark beer that was suggested by the owner. We stopped in again on our last night in Bruges and both had another beer and split an appetizer plate of fried cheese balls, fried calamari, and spring rolls. That was a nice way to end our trip, and I’m really glad we found this place. I hope to get to Bruges again some day, and if so, we’ll definitely be back. *I have to add that Rick Steves’s guidebook says this place isn’t as charming as Café Vlissinghe, the oldest pub in Bruges(500 years old), but my husband disagrees and said he finds ‘t Gezelleke more charming and liked it a bit better than Café Vlissinghe.

Four plus plus(hesitate giving 5’s). Great service, friendly proprietor, authentic Flemish recipes(but other food as well); I had the Waterzooie. Nice relaxed friendly atmosphere & award winning Belgian Ale selections on tap. Come outside the canal and eat well at a more reasonable price.

Whatever you do, order the«Bruschetta met Ham» this item is incredible. We went there two days in a row just to eat it. I had one of the vegetarian soups and although it was mostly just broth it was quite delicious as well. My wife got rabbit one night and pasta carbonara another night. The pasta sauces are good but there. Is so much pasta that the ratio is a little off. The beef bourginon is VERY good, but not a large portion(at least by American standards. Overall, fantastic meals. EATTHEBRUSCHETTA.
