Very nice place. Good food and good atmosphere. The service was slow but friendly. Lunch or dinner is the same menu and price. We had streak, seafood, and asparagus all of which were nice.

Delightful dinner. We came early and chose a table window, and proceeded to spend a pleasant two hours dining here. The staff was kind to ask us how quickly we wanted our courses, and we were in no hurry. I had a few glasses of the local Brugse Zot, a delicious light Amber beer, and the spouse chose some white wine. Before our meals we were brought bread, French butter, some herring in vinegar and red pepper hummus to snack on. I had the local fish soup followed by the local cod, and it was a beautiful thick cut of fish with local vegetables including the white asparagus currently in season. The better half had shrimp with pappardelle, prepared in a curry laced sauce. We both had the Crème brûlée to finish, and were then surprised by small glasses of Elixir, the local apéritif. A thoroughly wonderful dining experience from beginning to end

We were sooooo totally gassed on this night that anyplace would have been fine, but boy howdy, did we get lucky here! The service was comforting, efficient, and thorough. I know! «Comforting»?? What a goofy word for a food joint. Lemme try again. I felt like I was ‘home in Belgium’. I wanted to talk about how crappy it was that Kaiser Wilhelm sent his boys into«Poor Little Belgium» in the autumn of 1914. I wanted to learn the Belgian national anthem, and sing it. That’s how comforting this place was. The menu is chockablock full of Belgian dishes, and the window seat we had allowed a darkening evening to settle into the restaurant as we ate.

Charming restaurant located a short walk from one of the main squares in Bruges. We were given a great table on an elevated portion towards the back, which I appreciated, because I know that we Americans tend to speak a little boisterously. I cannot recall what I ate, and the menu is not posted online, but I do remember that everyone in my group enjoyed their meal and it was reasonably priced.

Very nice restaurant. A little bit formal but a few people were dressed casually. The food was good and the staff friendly. This place is near the square of downtown Brugge. On a Monday the place had steady customers that all seemed to enjoy their meal. I really enjoyed the time here and found the environment nice.

This place was recommended to us by a local we has bumped into a night earlier. As I stated in my «tip» it’s kind of tucked back on a side street of the market. Not super hard to find but easy to walk by if you’re not paying attention. The atmosphere was quaint and inviting. Our server and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly which always makes a dining experience better. I ordered the«Veal Ragout», veal cuts in a creamy white sauce with herbs and vegetables. The veal was tender and tasty and the cream sauce was delicious. I ordered the local beer«Bruges Zot» which complimented my meal very well. My girlfriend had the fried cod and her father had a delicious looking coq au vin. They both cleared their plates and said their dishes were great. The portions were more than ample. So much so that we were all too full to get desert or coffee. So all in all it was an excellent dining experience and you won’t be disappointed if you try this place. How I rate: 1*= kitchen nightmare 2*= poor all around 3*= average 4*= excellent all around 5*= mind blown!

What a wonderful meal. We went around 7 pm on a Sunday(with a reservation as Saturday was booked full). We were greeted with a lovely staff and a quiet restaurant which was great with our one year old son. They quickly had a high chair for him which made it feel much more hospitable. The meal was superb. My husband enjoyed his duck and I my chicken pot pie, Immensely. My son had the meatballs and when I ordered still water for him, they brought him a bottle of still water with a straw punched in it for him. They made our experience lovely for having a toddler with us. Highly recommend.

One of the most interesting dining experiences I’ve had in Belgium. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the food is comforting, and it’s reasonably priced. The rabbit stew was served in a little cast iron pot with a pastry crust reminiscent of a pot pie. I recommend this place to all friends traveling to Brugge.

We have been coming to Bruges for years and finally made it to Den Huzaar. The ambiance is comfortable and inviting. We had a reservation and were seated next to the window which I felt was a great place to sit to be able to look out at the shoppes and many people wondering by. We started with a local Bruges beer the Brugse Zot and had the dark, one of my favorites. I ordered the French onion soup with Camembert cheese toast on top. It was tasty and I was satisfied. We were also give a rabbit terrine with bread and the taste was creamy and rich. My husband and I both ordered the steak since that is what we were both craving. I wish now I had just ordered the pork cheeks stewed in beer and cherry sauce for main it was served in a casserole sealed with puff pastry, with boiled green vegetables and potato gratin. It looked amazing every time the server brought it out. But back to the steaks. They were good and served with a nice salad and of course frites. I choose the mushrooms sauce and my hubby had the peppercorn sauce and both were wonderful. For desert we shared a Crème Brulee which arrived at the table flaming. It was also very good. We look forward to returning in April when we visit Bruges again. The service was great and they have menus in many different languages which is always nice.

The food here is terrible. Maybe it’s just because I went in February during low season, but the food is not freshly prepared or well executed. You couldn’t pay me to eat this food because it’s simply not worth eating. You might think that 35 euro for 3 courses is a steal, except you look at the quality of ingredients and realize that they’re completely gouging you. I started with the terrine, which was okay. It was served cold, but the quality wasn’t very good, so I couldn’t finish the slab they gave me. When you’re eating something as sumptuous as terrine, I expect to be devouring it, but I didn’t really care for it. The duck was inedible. I’ve never had such a disgusting texture for meat. While chewing it, the meat started releasing a chalky texture, which made it completely unappetizing. When I brought this up to the waiter, she said that it was super tender because it was slow cooked. Slow cooked my ass. It was likely frozen multiple times and her idea of slow cooking was thawing in the fridge. Finally, dessert was bad as well. They made a show of lighting the crème brûlée on fire, but it was more like a bad eggy pudding with an overdone crust. There’s a reason why they don’t light crème brûlée on fire at actually good restaurants. Anyway, avoid this restaurant like the plague. This place had the worst food I ate in Europe on a recent 10 day trip.

Fantastic. A can’t miss bistro in Brugge — which is more or less filled with sub-par eating establishments. I chose this restaurant after reading reviews about it in the Guardian. My immediate impression was how the restaurant was packed with locals. Second, the waiters and owners were exceptionally nice and took the time to walk me through the menu. I ordered the three-course prix fix meal, a steal at 35 euros, and selected the goose liver, the beef stew, and the brugge ice cream. I topped everything off with a local beer that they had on tap. The meal was absolutely fantastic, especially the stew which drew the attention everyone around me, including the locals who later told me they regretted not ordered the stew themselves. The goose liver was also a great choice. In terms of dessert, I probably should have selected something else — like the mousse or crème brûlée. I can’t really say more. This is a fantastic restaurant and definitely worth trying out.
