Gosh I’m glad I wasn’t here on a weekend! During the weekday it’s seemingly less crowded and a great place to meet up while kids play with plenty of room to run. I love that it’s right near the Trigg Island Café so a bite to eat or a refreshment is close by!

This is a really popular park, it’s location is clearly ideal a stones through from Trigg beach so you can picnic and relax without the sand. There are facilities here for barbeque-ing, picnicing and children. Good for dog walking, date making, hanging out with friends and of course street drinking. I love this place catch the Doctor in the afternoon and watch the sunset, it is the life!

Clarko Reserve is the place to be on a hot Perth summer’s day. The location is brilliant with lots of green grass, overlooking Trigg’s beautiful beaches and right where you can take advantage of the seabreeze. You can bring your own picnic, take advantage of the barbecue facilities or take a short walk down to Trigg Island Café. My problem with this place is that it is way too popular. During the summer months on a weekend this place is packed from morning til night. Getting a parking spot seems to have the same odds as winining the lottery. If you are lucky enough to get a park, you then need to find somewhere to set yourself up. If you get in early, enjoy it for the first few hours of the day and retreat to an airconditioning building for the rest of the day is probably your best bet.

Not a weekend goes by in the summer months when this park is not teeming with people. Clarko Reserve is a magnet for families and groups of friends, who cluster together around barbecues and under trees, the kids running around them and playing frisbee, or commandeering swings at the playground, while joggers and cyclists and other such fitness nuts pass by along the esplanade. Lovers stroll. People read. The place is a hive of activity and movement. Sunday afternoon will see hundreds descend upon the grassy knolls from well before lunch to roughly around dusk, outnumbered by only the seagulls, which hang around in the hope that someone at some point will throw them a chip. If you were a betting person, you’d put money on the gulls. It’s not difficult to see why the spot is so popular. Clarko Reserve is in a fantastic location, offers plenty of space, and while the sun may be hot the sea breeze is cool. For those who aren’t content to pack a picnic lunch, Trigg Island Café is only a short walk away. For those who aren’t content with a cool breeze, the beach is an even shorter one.
