I was prepared to write a review for Brio the first time I ate there around two months ago, however after my latest meal there I am thoroughly relieved I left it for a second visit. The first time we ate there Hayden and I had just moved into our new digs at one of the funky Woolstores nearby, and had set to work making our way through the mass of breakfast options within 5 steps of our building entrance. Brio had a good list of breakfast choices with the added bonus of supplying gluten free options, so it was an obvious choice to try. That first visit was great. Service was a little slow but this was forgiveable as there was one lady taking care of the whole place(around 20 tables). The food was fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced and the menu was varied and ventured outside of the normal breakfast fare. I went with the Smoked salmon and asparagus stack with a gluten free bagel and was absolutely ENAMOURED. If like me, you’ve made the switch to gluten free living later in life after enjoying a lifetime of incredible bread products before suddenly being confronted with the dry, tasteless cardboard that passes as gluten free bread you would know my extreme happiness at eating a gluten free bagel that WASACTUALLYCHEWYANDTASTEDAMAZING, ANDLIKE A REALNORMALBAGEL. It was a magic moment. The eggs were runny, the salmon was fresh and the asparagus sweet and crunchy. At $ 16.90 I thought it was very reasonably priced for the serving size. The banana smoothie(Banana Rama as it’s called) was thick and fresh and with a slight hint of cinnamon. Not overly sweet and absolutely delicious. The second time I visited Brio was an entirely different experience. To begin with, it took 20 minutes for us to be seated. Yes, it was a busy morning but the waitress(a different lady to last visit) continued to clean tables and serve diners while we stood there in the baking heat. It took Hayden loudly saying, «Excuse me, we’re just going to sit here. is that OK?» for her to finally acknowledge we were there at all. Once seated she promised to return with a menu. She returned to serve someone their meal, and walked into the kitchen again without giving us a menu. We sat. And sat. And waved at her, and called to her, and laughed to the man sitting at the table next to us that we were«wearing our invisible outfits» that day. Finally hot and hungry I was sent into the kitchen /servery and asked for a menu. A lady apologised and asked where I was sitting. I told her and went back outside to wait for another 5 minutes before flagging her down to ask for menus a second time. Once we finally had them, we then waited to order. It was almost too much. Hayden wanted to leave but I was convinced we wouldn’t get a seat anywhere else nearby and that we were better off flagging down the staff where we were. This second time I opted for the Lamb Bruschetta with Gluten free bagel. The bagel, once again, was a magical beast — all chewy and decadent. And the breakfast lamb mixture was absolute perfection. Moist and well spiced and really well rounded. Despite the terrible service, Brio offer an excellent menu and tantalising meals. I just don’t know if I would make the journey again to be faced with a 40 minute wait before we could order.

Having left a place down the road because I missed their breakfast menu it was nice to see brios inviting fresh green colours and an all day breakfast menu. Parking is difficult around this area. Leave time to find one. There is a parking lane behind the row of restaurants. Good luck. Good service. Kept checking on us and food and drink came in good time despite a busy time of day and an almost full house. Coffee Genovese. Not bad. Actually pretty good. I love the fresh juices. Not overloaded with ice and they were served very quickly. Food. Reasonable serves. Nice haloumi. Eggs perfectly poached. All served nicely without being flamboyant in presentation. I had the breakfast stack. Nice but not wow. I love how they can downsize the meals for kids. They also made kid size juices. Much appreciated. Overall a nice place that I would visit again. Keen to try the lamb bruschetta.

Love this place. It is under new management but has the same amazing chef. Great place to go for a great feed all the time that you don’t get elsewhere. You also can’t beat an all day breakfast.

Attempted to order a takeaway coffee this morning. I was told by the old guy running the place that they were too busy. I left empty handed. FAIL.

The service in this place this morning was awful, the guy running the place who looked like he just got home from the beach was rude and moody, awful service… Don’t go there !

Hugely disappointing after the two rave Unilocal reviews. I’ve had coffee here 2 – 3 times and found it to be ok, so after the glowing reviews, figured I’d try breakfast. Big mistake! On arrival there was only 1 table remaining which bode well for my breakfast outing, doesn’t it?(dirty napkins left on the table and minor food scraps, which can sometimes be the result of a quick table turnaround) My order was taken quickly and my flat white arrived promptly but was just wrong. Burnt coffee + burnt milk + absent spoon does not make for a good start. I alert the staff and the coffee is quickly, but grudgingly(scowling, unhappy young waitress), replaced and is better, but only marginally. That’s ok, the breakfast will be better… won’t it? Nope! My ‘all or nothing’ with poached eggs & multigrain toast appears quickly, and I soon discover the reason for the quick turn around. Everything’s cold! The beans — cold, the hash brown — cool centre, the poached eggs — cooked perfectly but cool to the touch, sausage — same as eggs, the bacon? — ditto(all half a ration!), grilled tomato — roasted but cold(cute as it is being baby toms on the vine), the spinach appears to be freshly wilted, but well under cooked/steamed, with the only thing that’s not stone cold being the toast! Seriously disappointing! Not sure if there are new staff in the kitchen or new owners but from start to finish this was lousy. The good news? I was by myself so at least I didn’t force this on anyone else. This may have been fantastic in the past, or maybe even still is with today being an off day, but somebody needs to lift their game. It’s just not good enough to be good some of the time. In the ‘Plus’ column, it was all very quick. Although, I’d be happy to wait a ‘little’ bit longer and have it served to the standard you expect when paying reasonable $$‘s. Funny thing is I had no intention of doing a review until the poor service & attitude I received when I returned the coffee, and then the substandard breakfast just made me start typing! Time to lift your game Brio!

Always a fan of an all-day breakfast, I kept my eyes peeled walking through Teneriffe to score myself some form of egg and bacon combination. And there it was; Brio Espresso and Juice. But before I could even peruse the wonders of the breakfast menu, I was held captive by the Tree Hugger Burger — a mouth-watering assembly of falafel, haloumi and pumpkin on Turkish bread. Alas, my stomach could not handle such a sensory feast as this, so I settled on a walnut & pear salad with smoked salmon. Expecting measly, thin shards of pear, I was delighted to see large segments of pear gracing the bowl complete with whole walnuts and a generous amount of salmon. My only gripe was eating out of a bowl — it’s nigh on impossible to cut up a salad in a bowl. But delicious nevertheless. Seemingly a place for the locals, the staff greeted them like old friends and served them up smoothies and juices to go. As with most decent breakfast cafes, there is a large freshly squeezed juice menu, something I’ll definitely have to check out in the near future.

Brio has become a bit of a hangover ritual for me. It’s like my body craves their huevos rancheros and a Juicy Lucy juice as soon as I wake up with a wine-induced headache! Or their eggs benedict. Or their muesli. Heck, I’ll eat anything from Brio, because it is ALWAYS good. Don’t let the«espresso & juice» written below their sign fool you. Brio does a mean(and I mean MEAN) brekky. Teamed with their consistently good Genovese coffee and their headache ridding smoothies and juices, this place is a must-visit for anyone who loves dining out for the most important meal of the day. And they serve breakfast until 5pm! 5pm people! Can we appreciate this for the small miracle that it is? If you’re in the Teneriffe neck of woods and in need of a feed, Brio is reasonably priced, delicious, and the alfresco dining makes for an excellent morning(or afternoon depending on how severe the hangover).
