We stayed a street away from this place and walked by everyday during our stay. We finally stopped one early afternoon so my husband could try Kangaroo meat. He opted for the kebab. First let me say its not a kebab its a wrap. It does not come on a stick. He was definitely not a fan but did love the sauce they put in the wrap. After some confusion with the price we left. Only real complaint was the rudeness of the owner. After asking some simple questions us out-of-towners had he gave us the worst attitude. I understand that maybe this is just his demeanor but hey you are in a service industry and its customary to at least act courteous.

Walking along George Street, you pass by several food establishments. I was on a hunt, looking for somewhere that sold kangaroo meat. Lo and behold, Oz Turk Pizza and Kebabs had a huge chalkboard sign in front of their store with the word«kangaroo» in large font. And it was just around the corner from my hotel too! I walked in on a Wednesday evening, roughly past 9pm. The place was empty and unbearably hot. I couldn’t imagine how the people working here don’t suffer from a heat stroke. Although Oz Turk has an extensive menu including pizza, kebabs, pastas, salads, burgers, etc, I skipped browsing the menu on the wall and asked for a kangaroo burger with chips. For my first time trying kangaroo meat, I was quite impressed. It wasn’t as gamey as I anticipated, and it tasted a little bit like beef. The meat was so tender and juicy I almost forgot how dry and stale the bun was. The thick-cut chips were fresh, not overly salted, though borderline undercooked because the center was a little grainy and chewy. Service was quick and friendly. I appreciated how my burger and chips were made fresh, because the pizza slices under a heat lamp all day didn’t look so appetizing. Oz Turk is open 24 hours a day, which seems to fit nicely on the George St scene.

Great Kangaroo Kebab! The meat is tender and intense in flavour! My friend had the kangaroo burger, but the kebab was so much better! I liked it so much, that I went back the night after again, haha. keeps you from a bad hangover too. For 9.50 very achievable! And they are open every night during the night — so if you are looking for a midnight snack :) Go and try it!

The kangaroo kebab was exactly what I needed at 1AM. If only the kangaroo hadn’t been massively overcooked, it’d have been a fine kebab.

I’ve been here a few times but I normally default to another kebab place. One of the better CBD locations for a kebab, and offers ample seating too. They have everything else the other shops have, including chips… but they also have kangaroo.

I am not terribly proud to say that the only reason my friends and I ate here was due to the fact we saw OZ Turk advertise kangaroo kabobs while walking past it. It was Thanksgiving weekend back in the States and we joked that eating kangaroo instead of turkey seemed fitting since we were in Australia. Yes, it tasted like beef, and no, it was not that great. It was standard kabob and little overcooked. My other friend enjoyed this egg cooked into flat bread dish more. We were about the only people in the shop and clearly being a place for a quick meal. It looked clean and the people running the place seemed nice.
