Recommended. Nicely understated but beautifully delicate Japanese flavours. Atmosphere is a little cold but the food is just great. I will be back.

I love this place. So many side dishes with your food and care is put into each one. The take away menu is really taste to I have had the tuna and karage. The tune has seared tuna and also a tartar both which taste amazing!

Sister restaurant to an admitted favourite of mine — Ha Lu — I will admit to some bias. It was good to compare the other night at Satsuki. The service was similar, attentive but not intrusive. The décor is in better condition and they have a heated enclosed terrace, which is nice. The flight of(3) sake was confusing, with three markedly different levels in each glass. One was generous, one positively mean and the other standard. There was no explanation for this. Admittedly, we didn’t ask, either. We ordered 4 dishes from the menu that resembled the one at Ha Lu, with some differences. We noted an absence of vegetarian options, which was disappointing. I ordered my go-to dish: the scallops on the lotus chips. The scallops were plump and moist, but the tempura was too heavy, bordering on fish and chip shop levels. Excessive and greasy and distracting. So I’m still picking Ha Lu as the better of the two but I wouldn’t say no to returning to Satsuki. It’s located in the square surrounding the Subiaco train station, thus accessible via public transport or by car. Lots of paid parking in the area. Some adjacent parking is free after 6pm.

Went to this place with my significant other on a Saturday night for dinner. Thought it would be busy, turned out to be quiet and very relaxed. We arrived and was greeted and we chose to be seated in their outdoor area, so I can’t comment on their interior décor. But the outdoor area had views of the subiaco train station and various buildings(o.O) Each table had a tea light candle and that was about it. Great place to go to if you like a romantic, intimate atmosphere with dim lighting(no euphemism intended). Setting aside, let’s review the food. We ordered a fair few dishes, unfortunately I did not get a chance to take a picture of every single one since both my partner and I were very hungry and we just wanted to munch down everything(but please enjoy what little photos I have to share). The Satsuki Sashimi was divine, it was a mix array of fresh seafood dressed with the house made dressing which had a slight tang and sweetness to it which went well with the slight saltiness of the seafood. Most definitely recommend this dish as a starter to share with ONE other person(or not), since it is a small dish(3 or more would just be a crowd). Also as a starter we ordered the wonton basket tiger prawns, which confused me because the prawns did not come in a wonton basket but I’m pretty sure was fried with some sort of wonton coating(should call it wonton coated tiger prawns) accompanied with an «oriental mayo», don’t know what that is but tasted delicious with the prawns. The prawns was well cooked and flavours balanced(Do not lick the mayo off the plate if you plan to impress the other diner/diners you may be with). Since I was not there to impress anyone I happily finished mayo. We also ordered the dessert, which was a mixed platter of small desserts offered on the menu which we shared(reluctantly). Could not fault a thing, was a happy ending to a beautiful meal. There were 2 mains ordered also but since I have no photographic evidence, I do not remember much, only that we finished it very quickly and happily. The price was a bit pricey but well worth the fresh seafood I think.

I’ve always walked by here on the way to subi market, but never stepped cus I’ll always just settle for the food in subi market. Went for lunch here and boy oh boy it was so delicious! Ordered a seafood donburi set, which came with a bowl of fish soboro topped with spanner crab, a stewed piece of pumpkin, salad, soba, meat soboro, tempura sushi, miso shiru and some pickles. Best of all, the price($ 15.50) was really affordable! Every mouth just makes you wanna shout UMAI! For drinks I got the yuzu sour($ 8.50), there was more alcohol than yuzu in it but hey ain’t that even more worth it? I’ll prefer it a little sweeter like the chu-hi they have in japan, but still great! Setting was really pretty and they were displaying all their medals and«plates» of winner best restaurant that makes you go ‘wow’ as you’re eating. I will definitely be back to try out their other dishes cus they look so good(Yeap I was peeking at my neighbours food) and their plating is so cute, so Japanese style, love it!!! Ten thumbs up!

I really liked it here and will definitely be going back. The food was delicious, the wine selection broad and full of good choices, and the staff pleasant. The style is kind of Japanese tapas, so you order 2 – 3 dishes per person and share. The food came out very quickly. Try the tempura battered tuna roll, chicken kara-age and edamame salad. Delightful. The sashimi was also lovely, and I don’t even usually like sashimi! All paired with a bottle of pinot noir. Note the restaurant is fully licensed, no BYO. I noticed a lot of Japanese people eating here, always a good sign! Right near the Subiaco Train Station, but we sat inside because it was a cool night. Probably just as well, as the train station view wasn’t all that awesome! My only criticism is that the dish sizes are small for what you pay, but perhaps that is me just being used to going to places where the dishes are always«super-sized». At least everything on the table was finished this way! I’ll also be trying their sister restaurant, Ha-Lu in Mount Hawthorn as soon as I can.

This is a nice Japanese restaurant. Good, quality food. However, I would have expected them to have a wider selection on their menu. I had the tempura vegetables and tuna roll, both of which were wonderful. I really wanted sushi though so it was a big disappointment only finding two rolls on the menu :(If you’re looking for sushi, this is not the place.
