Driving past, I wasn’t sure if this place was a middle eastern food joint or if it was called little eastern due to its eastern suburban location. After visiting on Sunday I’m happy that amongst their menu, they have a good amount middle eastern food. We don’t get a whole lot of this sort of thing on our side of the city. Not only do they serve middle eastern food; it’s damn good and well-priced. I am a big fan of Manoushi because I used to work near the Lebanese bakery in Mile End and would buy their Zaatar manoushi for lunch when I only had a few bucks. Basically zaatar manoushi is Lebanese flat bread with dried oregano, thyme, sesame seeds and sumac baked on. We got one of these, plus a gourmet Sujuk(sausage) and spinach and cheese manoushi also. They were all great, and the bread was super fresh. Probably the freshest bounciest Lebanese bread I have tried. Definitely worth a visit. They also do typical café breakfasts, have a mean coffee setup(although I haven’t tried their coffee yet), and a nice clean café with good décor.

Just off Magill Road you will find this bright and bubbly café ready to make you a great cup of coffee. Busy during lunch periods and weekends with the locals, you will need to get here early to get a good spot. The café is not that big, so be sure to take that into consideration depending on the time of the day. All of the tables are lined with butchers paper and crayons are on offer for the kids to draw, while parents enjoy some well earned recharge time. I love that the café collects fun drawings and pops them up on the wall to display! I can imagine that children would love to see their pieces of art on the wall when they return. If you need coffee, you will fine strong and flavoursome beans here. Just what I love! I like a well rounded coffee that picks me up with a kick of caffeine. That is why I always order a strong flat white. And that is exactly what I received. Perfect! After a long morning, coffee always goes well with a treat. Oh yeah, bring on the Dutch Style Brownie. A little drier than most brownies; But I think that is the style. Nice chocolate flavour and really hit the spot. I am told that the brekkie and lunch here are also really good. So I endeavour to return to try that as well. Last thing to point out, the staff are really lovely. Be sure to know that you and your guests will be well looked after.

This is a gorgeous modern little gem situated on a main road in the eastern suburbs. The interior design is very trendy with a feature wall which shows brickwork under a half plastered wall. Something you don’t see every day. And plus they’ve gone quite heavy on the yellow themed interior, which is my favourite colour. A downside is this place is another limited sized eatery with only a few tables inside. They don’t take reservations, so if there is nothing available your best option is to wait. On the inside tables used as table sheets are brown rustic style paper along with a jar of pencils for the young ones to amuse themselves drawing all over the paper. What an idea! Looking around I could see it was certainly effective. My partner and I were waiting for some others to join us so we ordered a Smashed Avocado to share as our personal entrée. It was a beautiful simple dish mixed with Fetta and sesame seeds served on thin crusty rye bread. It didn’t take me long to devour, but it amazing either way. For my main I had the smoked salmon with poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and asparagus. It was simple yet effective in the sense it was satisfying. All the elements tasted quite fresh and nicely cooked and prepared. Once again didn’t take long to disappear. This is a place I would certainly come again if I wanted a break from my weekend regular hot spots, or to take a friend somewhere new.

Where do I start! This place is a hidden gem the variety of both vegetarian and non vegetarian options are in abundance! The staff are incredibly attentive and lovely, making diners feel at home. The halloumi burger is a little taste of heaven, the falvours and textures are smooth and leave a delish taste in the pallet. The smashed pumpkin and Manoushi are also worth a bite and are very tasty.

The Little Eastern. love love love! Gorgeous little spot on magill road perfect for all day breakfast or a light lunch. The couple who run this quirky little café are absolutely lovely and create a very welcoming and homey feel. The Lebanese based menu is traditional with a modern twist. the hardest part being is that it all sounds good and I wanted it try it all! We feasted on different types of manoushi with my favourite being the chicken and avocado. Other dishes which caught my eye included the haloumi burger and smashed pumpkin. The aroma of freshly ground coffee hits you as soon as you enter the café so there was no doubt that I would be ending with a coffee and a gorgeous homemade brownie of course. Dutch chocolate & white chocolate and berry brownies, delish! areas for improvement; the owners were lovely and delivered fantastic customer service where as other waiters seemed to be a little lost(maybe just new to the game!). Serving sizes could be a touch a bigger but still good value for money. I shall return!

Friendly attentive staff found me the last seat in the house during busy lunch hour, in the burb? Thursday lunch hour? They must b either from the near by SA government offices or travel afar or having the day off like me. Outside seatings are loose cushion on a milk crate n wooden crates as table, they serve the purpose. Small lunch menu but breakfast all day, so if you missed your eggs so desperately, plenty of choices. Salads, pea fritters and munooshi are the few choices and vegetarians are well catered for as I would say there r more vegetarian dishes than meat dishes. The bottle of water was promptly produced together with the menu, n asked if I would like a coffee while deciding, great service n upsell! My gourmet sujus munooshi didn’t disappoint, with the oozing haloumi melting in between the fresh pizza bread was just great. The pizza base being folded over which makes eating with fingers easier n more sensible, that way the fillings are well tucked in. I couldn’t resist but to try their white chocolate with berries brownie to finish, added scoop of ice cream would b an extra $ 2, I opted not to have the ice cream for the mere fact that I was feeling guilty as it was having the brownie! A very welcomed venue in this little strip of shops along Magill Road where there are a great choice of other eateries nearby. Well worth the visit. By the way, there are plenty of car parking at the rear, look out for the entrance, blink n u will miss it!

We have only been here twice(both times this weekend) but we have already decided that this is our new favourite hangout. Amazing Falafel, beautiful breakfasts, tasty juices, all topped off with a copy vibe and some of the friendliest service you could ask for. Highly recommended for breakfast and lunch on the weekend.

I didn’t order food so can’t comment on that but the coffee was DIVINE. Creamy and well blended aroma in the taste, that matches well with the atmosphere. Attentive customer service that makes you feel instantly welcomed. Was working at the same time yet the place is comfortable enough to have thinking space. Menu looks varied enough, would definitely be a great business meeting spot or for social hangs.

The new kid on the block is definitely worth a stop. With their ‘nothing is too much trouble attitude’, interesting and delicious menu and excellent coffee, the owners are on a winner. They have an all day breakfast, lunch and snacks menu which ranges from a few dollars to around $ 13 for the bigger meals. Vegetarian & gluten free options available, and they’ll happily mix and match if the selection doesn’t quite fit your bill. They’re currently only closed Monday and open 8 – 4 Tuesday — Saturday; 9 – 4 Sunday. It’s tiny(maybe 5 tables) with a few spots outside, but well worth putting on your coffee route. Masses of parking around the back, but slow down coming up Magill Road or you’ll miss it. Keep an eye out for their big yellow sign and a couple of yellow chairs out the front.

The sexy Verona espresso machine makes you think of the Gina Lollobrigida yellow rose… The birds behind the bar are cute… The plaster treatment very cosmopolitan… This attention to detail is also shown in the quality of the coffee and food. Very enjoyable.
