This wonderful suburban establishment would be more aptly described as the home you didn’t know you had than as a café. The staff welcome you as family, the garden is in fact a real, wonderfully garden, and they provide a true soil to plate menu. The herbs used to garnish my dish were picked in front of my from the garden no more than two minutes before my dish was served to me. What a wonderful place to sit for a quiet Saturday morning’s work, or to socialise with friends and family. A cubby house is Nestle in the rear of the garden to entertain the little ones and it’s perhaps one of the most dog friendly cafes in Adelaide. An absolute hidden gem.

Like trying to find a needle in the haystack so is challenge of finding an Adelaide café that is open on a public holiday. Luckily Espresso Royale came to the rescue. Even though this café has a cute little red veranda out onto Magill Road, blink and you’ll miss it! It was very cute and cosy inside; a lot of retro furnishings. The staff were very friendly and bubbly, could easily strike up a conversation. Had a good range of little cakes and dessert and the coffee very nice too. Sitting in my chair in the loungey part for a few minutes with my latte and salted-caramel tart(BTW top-notch tart!), I couldn’t help but feel like I was in sitting in somebody’s house — like an old friend, it was very comforting. Good little local find, hope to swing past again in the future!

The best fair trade coffee ever! The little place is lovely and welcoming. For warm weather a sentimental little back yard is great to unwind in. Soak up the sun, eat the fabulous locally sourced organic meals and of course, drink that amazing coffee. Definitely a nice place to relax whether you are alone or not, Expresso Royal makes you feel welcome …

Great coffee. Great food. Good space. Slight drama service wise but hey they served me breakfast on a Monday!

I love a lot of things in this world, but near the top of that list is coffee and cake. Espresso Royale delivers on this and so much more. For a start the kitchen pumps out delicious and quality Vegan(and non Vegan) food ranging from delectable desserts to fully satisfying café style food. I hear there are also wellness practitioners(a naturopath, a reflexologist and soon a masseuse) operating in rooms out the back. Espresso Royal is a small place and it’s easy to drive right by it and never notice while commuting on busy Magill road — keep your eyes peeled for this gem!

If you weren’t looking for Espresso Royale, it’s likely that you would never discover it! Disguised as a suburban house, this little café is a hidden treasure for the locals. This café is great for Magill Road workers… It’s the only decent coffee in the area! The décor is sweet and intimate and only seats a few. It’s like going around to your mates house who is also a trained barista and will cook you yummy food. The menu is decent — definitely not mind-blowing but well-put-together, simple and delicious. The staff are friendly and always take the time to chat. But the coffee is the real winner. Go in during spring and sit out in the beautiful back garden!

Espresso Royale has been our most favourite coffee shop for over four years. It’s a home away from home. Baristas know everyone’s name, they know your coffee of choice and we always find a friendly atmosphere. Staff and customers chat and friendships blossom. Oh and the coffee is excellent. If you hunger for fair trade, well roasted and well made De Groote coffee — look no further. It can get crowded but there is a terrific garden out the back which is both child and dog friendly.

some of the best coffee you’ll find in adelaide — add hipster Hawaiian tunes and souvenir spoons and we’re happily sipping away. these guys arent afraid to be who they are, and are more than happy for you to go elsewehere if you dont love it. they dont do fake, but they do do good, honest, couldnt get fresher(roasted on site) beans.

Stopped by here quickly for a takeaway and will have to return soon because their coffee was great! Tucked away on Magill rd. But worth going out of your way for if you like good coffee. I plan on stopping in for a sit down soon.

Love it! To be honest, there is nothing amazing about this place… it is small, has a limited menu and is in an average location… but it has got that something special about it. Great coffee and the best toasted sourdough raisin bread… that’s all I had so all I can comment on. Sitting on a stool looking out onto the road, I felt very relaxed, and the chaos of the day seemed to have disappeared for a little while. I love the eclectic retro pieces too. If you happen to need some children’s clothing or furniture… there is lots to choose from across the road… my recommendation is Rainbow Tree which has eco friendly products.

I tell ya what, fellow Unilocaler Mario P was right on the money when he said ‘Pass by this place quickly enough and it might escape your notice’! I have driven up Magill Road countless times and have never noticed this little spot until recently, and although I have only been there once I will definately catch up with some friends here in future! There are a couple of reasons why this dinky little place has joined the illustrious company of the businesses that have earned a 5 star rating from me. The first is the soul of the place, sitting down with a friend just feels relaxing which is exactly what you want in a suburban café. Secondly the décor is a flash back in time with the vynil cushioned chairs and retro 50’s bits and pieces that funk the place up just right! The big one for me, and probably most who visit, is the Coffee. It is supper wicked, smack your hand down on the table, hi-five your companions good. It is possible that I had been on a bad run of shite coffee and this one just tasted like roasted gold, but either way it was the freaking BALLS! Had me jiggling around like 10 year old on Whizz Fizz for hours!

Espresso Royale gets 5 stars based on coffee quality, care and consistency alone. Coffee is a liquid disproportionately important in my life and therefore I find it motivates me far more than most. I will happily travel 20 minutes out of my way to avoid having another dud brew and for this reason I love you Espresso Royale. The shop front is tiny, the décor 50s ecclecticism… as my friend Polly says — op-shop chic, but probably more hard rubbish ingenuity if you ask me. Don’t let the discription put you off — it’s perfectly comfy and charming! There are a few seats, but to be honest you’d have to be pretty lucky to get one as this joint is usually jumping. It’s a DIY scenario here and the beans are roasted on premise — they even supply to a lucky few… Relax in Vintage in the Myer centre to name just one. There’s a small selection of fresh and all organic sandwiches and friand things.

Pass by this place quickly enough and it might escape your notice. There’s so little advertisement, the café can seem more a home than a place to order coffee. I really, really like the quaintness of it, though. It basically is a house. The atmosphere extends in doors where the walls are lined with art and shelves, upon which are stacked tea pots, other porcelains and percolators. There was only one person manning the desk when I was there. I wanted to ask him if he owned the place but he seemed extremely busy so I left him alone. He was a bit frazzled, but other than that he was perfectly quick and friendly. And the coffee was great. You know how they say homemade’s always the best? But then, with coffee, homemade’s never the best, as it’s usually just instant coffee. Well, this place makes what I imagine homemade coffee would be like. You know, if it were any good.

A small homey place in St Morris with a couple of seats, this is literally someone’s house converted into a café. Out the back behind the scenes is their own roaster where they make their own fair trade and organic coffee which they sell and use inside. Very limited food, but its all alternative and organic, but the focus is on the coffee. There is also an alternative vibe throughout the whole place, with the staff being very cool, calm and unusual. The coffee is very good, apparently, and they offer a good range(so I’m told) of single origins. The biggest thing you will find is that all their spoons look like they were taken from a antique collection.
