Coffee is always excellent. It’s worth paying a little extra. I usually go a couple of times a week and have never once had a bad coffee.

Worst cup of tea ever — what should have been a simple cup of English breakfast tea tasted metallic and flavorless. I had a metallic taste in my mouth even after leaving. There were very few choices for breakfast. The cabinet seemed to hold a lot of dessert options and the«bagels» were covered in some sort of plastic wrap, which had condensation on them so I couldn’t tell what was being offered or how fresh it would be. I settled on banana bread, feeling rushed and like there wasn’t much selection. The banana bread was nothing special – it was dense, but not very moist. Definitely have had better banana bread at home. Cannot comment on the coffee as I didn’t order any, but you won’t find me back here again anytime soon.

Urbanistar, located at the rear of the New Edition bookshop on William Street in Northbridge is my new favourite sunny Winter morning coffee shop. Their paved terrace, bursting with reading materials, fake grass topped stools, separated from the street by a stand of potted olive trees, has me lapping up the sunny spot with long macchiato in hand, purring with pleasure.

$ 3 coffee all day in Northbridge — TICK Funky Al Fresco seating with Café Umbrellas — TICK Polite and Attentive staff — TICK Add to that they made my 80+ yo Aunty very happy when she wanted a ¼ strength latte by giving her the coffee«on the side» so she could adjust the strength to her liking… her comment — «Perfect — I love it like that» — made my decision to choose Unilocal to source a café near the State Library another big — TICK Only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is because they don’t have a decaf coffee … but at $ 3 a cup they are probably running a tight ship…

Its about time that brunch and brekkie places started making their way out of the western suburbs and into the city, especially with the option of good coffee. The coffee here is smooth and creamy without overwhelming the flavour with milk. I wish some places offered the choice of putting in my own milk but until then I suppose I haveto judge coffee places by how much or little they drown my coffee with hot burnt full fat milk. Thanks urbanistar, a good take-away coffee.

This place is amazing, really quirky and ultra cool. The staff are really friendly and there is a real laid back vibe. They sell some delicious coffees and frappes. I had the most delicious soy latte, perfect and not too over priced, especially considering its location and the quirky vibes. I have been here a few times its a great place to meet a friend and the ice frappes are perfect in the summer/

Such a cute quirky little café sucked me in straight away. I was right to judge based on looks, because their coffee is great too. Nice and strong, well made and decent prices. I’ve had normal coffees as well as Iced from Urbanistar, both were great tasting. The service is top notch too, only my second visit Owner Lee remembered my order from the last time, I really value when a popular café does this. Urbanistar also has a delicious range of cookies and pastries, sitting in front of your eyes when you order, they are almost impossible to resist. Urbanistar is tucked away down a small arcade off William Street, you can’t see it from the street, but if you’re in the Northbridge area looking for delicious strong coffee check this place out. Note: I changed my original rating to 5 stars. The more I go to this place, the better it gets!

Urbanistar is the cream of the coffee scene. Funky place, chilled crew– sweet space Urbanistar has got it going on. Having checked this place out anxiously on several hap hazard occasions I nearly squealed with joy last Tuesday when I find the café open for business. Operating out of a vending shop front, the food and coffee that comes out of this seemingly small space is flavourful and fresh. As I stocked up on my Avanti fix(conveniently located just to the side of the ordering booth) I peered into the workshop beyond and settled for a coffee frappé to go, with great service– two straws and a smile. I shall certainly be indulging in the spoils of this dynamite café at every given opportunity! Urbanistar– urban bari-stars!
