Excellent sushi on the most fashion forward street of Perth! Service at the bar was great. I had a few rolls including the Plum Flower which was mondo yummy.

The vibrant atmosphere is befitting of the fresh, colourful, creative Japanese cuisine made with flair. A whole selection of vegan options includes scrumptious Pyogo roll with shitake mushrooms, the bright & beautiful beetroot roll & contrasting textures of Buddha’s Delight. Fantastic accompaniments include tempura beans, lotus chips & teriyaki tofu. Splurge on the sweet nectar of plum wine or a flask of refreshing sake. Unfortunately they don’t take bookings but if you get there early there’s room for a good crowd. Enjoy watching the chefs create their masterpieces while sipping an Asahi, the perfect start to a night out on the town.

Whenever I imagine having sushi, I imagine a place like Aisuru sushi. Disclaimer:The four stars you see on top are a rating of the experience I’ve had: if you are 100% food-focused, then give it two and a half stars. Reader you are thus warned. If I have sushi, I want to feel the vibrant Japanese cliché from a bad Amercian movie: — crowded place — open kitchen with hard working staff that demonstrate their sushi crafting — weak Japanese beer — constant noise and bustling(though not being elbow in the back or bumped around) — a narrow table Don’t ask me why but it all makes it authentic for me. And Aisuru had that, and it was a great night with friends of shouting and laughing and being happy. Food-wise, they are original and can accommodate every taste, I will grant them that. I regret the lack of simplicity in their menu and in their dishes. Everything is nice but nothing is really out of the ordinary. In a coastal city like Perth, I would have expected a stronger focus on tasteful fish and seafood and that was disappointing. Nonetheless, the whole evening made it one of my most enjoyable sushi experiences in Australia so far.

Straight off the bat this would have to be the best sushi I have tasted in Perth! I arrived with a group of girlfriends for a catch up and none of us had dined here before, but we all walked out will extremely full stomachs promising to return again. We started off with miso soup which was great, and then tried a number of different sushi dishes including the soft shell crab, plum flower(chicken teriyaki with an incredible plum flower sauce), tempura prawn and my favourite of the group the tank roll with beef and cream cheese. The latter is something I would never have picked to put in sushi– but trust me it’s a match made in heaven. If you haven’t already, definitely check these guys out!

Sushi is supposed to be simple, fresh and bite size. The sushi here is soaked in extravagant mayonnaises and so large it requires two awkward bites with the sushi spilling out everywhere. 80% of the rolls contain avocado and crab meat, giving a good indication that this place isn’t too great. The seating is too close to one another, you basically eat with the table next to you with ~30cm gap, or sit outside and breath in the car fumes and listen to the homeless squabble ahhh relaxing.

I could give it 2 stars because the Unilocal scale says that means«meh, I’ve had better», but I’ve not had better in Perth(except Nobu but that is a whole different kettle of… nevermind). I’m giving it a three because I like this place — but it suffers from the three-fish limitation all ‘sushi places around here suffer from and I can’t for the life of me understand why since we are literally littorally located. I’ve been to Aisuru about 5 times since they opened in Northbridge. The tempura green beans are delicious-it would be great to do the same with asparagus which is also in season at the moment. The Miss. Aisuru salad is awesome, the spider roll is good. I am not a fan of the wanton application of mayo and find that rolls with it(which are several) all taste the same. Crab stick is fake and lame and unfortunately pervasive throughout the menu. The mushroom roll(from the vegan page) was nice. In the yakatori department, the bacon wrapped shrimp was unremarkable; the tofu and the beef were perfectly cooked and nicely flavoured, and complemented each other nicely. I feel menu could be improved with a fresh, seasonal vibe, elevating the sophistication of the rolls by eliminating the mayo treatment, and easing up on the heavy use of crab stick.

Total fan! Theses guys are the King and Queen of sushi. Amazing everything! Food and service are impeccable! Every dish we had was perfection. The miso soup was absolutely amazing! How can I ever have packet miso, like ever, again? Just beautiful. The waitstaff we so lovely. Seriously the best vegetable tempura I’ve ever tasted. So perfectly battered and crisp! They also got the edamame just right too! Perfect amount of salt. The menu is really good with lots of choice but not too much, so that choosing is too hard. I love spider rolls and was super excited to see them on the menu sounding so delish too, but didn’t order them this time, so I will definitely be back! I also love that they can show you photos of the food you want to order as I often see things go by and wonder what it is(and want to order that exact thing!) Lovely experience over all. So we were so thankful to our friend for the fab recommendation. Go! It’s perfect!

I absolutely love Japanese food and you’d have to go a fair way in Perth to get much better than this. The venue is really nicely decorated, the staff are always there to take care of you and fill your cup with another tea. Their miso soup is probably the best I’ve had in Perth! Genuinely good food, well priced and great service. Situated in northbridge with large windows, I just love watching all the people from different walks of life as they pass by. Definitely worth a visit if you’re into Japanese or Asian foods!

This is one of those days that I craved for something Japanese. First thing I noticed is the open space and modern feel of the place. I like the fact that you can order and see the food on high definition using an iPad to order. I ordered beef teriyaki and kirika roll and man it was so good. Staff are friendly and warm. I’ll definitely recommend the place to family and friends.

Aisuru Sushi is about as good as it gets in Perth and I have been here at least five times(and twice in their Subiaco location). Last night was another triumphantly gorgeous meal that hit ever spot and ticked almost every box. Even my kickoff Sapporo beer had a feeling of magnificence about it and all of this on a Monday for goodness sake! Being that is was a somewhat chilly night, we headed towards the tables at the far side of the bar as my wife suffers from anything that is short of tropical! We arrived early(around 6.30pm) and were thankfully free to pick where we wanted to be… a luxury not often afforded at Aisuru Sushi due to its popularity. You barely have time to blink before a waitress appears, armed with an iPad which is like a Genie’s lamp, because it only takes one rub and PUFF, your meal arrives! Joking apart, I do love the digital menu on the iPad. And I do recommend looking at the pictures and not just the paper menu on your table, as even for veteran visitors like me, it gives you more to ogle at and choose from. Big winners for me were the Kirika Roll(loved the blend to taste sensations and the afterglow warmth of seared fish) plus the Dynamite Roll, Samurai James. And yes, the Black Velvet is to die for, but I skipped it this time. My waitress and waiter were faultless and attentive all the time and unafraid to give me their spin on what to go for or not. Next time I will go for the Beef Tataki and the Fois Gras.

Itadakimasu!!! When Japanese cuisine is also visually stunning! I’m not really into raw food, and this place is offering both raw and cooked and it’s good to have the choice. Starting with the nice and simple sweet Tamago Egg, didn’t have the time to take a photo… Long story short, it was a good. For the price, my Chicken Teriyaki was great, maybe one of the best I ever had, and it was just enough for me to say that I am sated. My friend took a roll with beef and some tuna slice, the whole meal looking was great. I also recommend this place for the welcoming which was Asianly correct.

On my husband’s fly in day I wanted to take him out for lunch and as we LOVE Japanese I went Unilocaling around for ideas and came across Aisuru at the top of my searches with 5 stars but well priced. The pix and the reviews won me over but they also did this place justice! SO we made our way there as soon as we picked him up and were prepared to wait it out for 20mins on the outdoor dining til it opened. And I’m glad I did! We were welcomed inside by both the owner and a server and they were highly friendly and professional. We were seated at the first table nearest the window at the booths which we enjoyed seeing out to a surprisingly rainy Northbridge though we enjoy any weather as the view was pleasing. The menu was FULL of an amazing amount of choice. Now it’s not totally authentic. It is as it says, Asian Fusion. Personally I LOVED it all so much. My husband would have enjoyed a mixture of the good olé salmon, tuna and California rolls mix. But we were happy to have found a somewhat Teriyaki chicken roll named as Plum Flower roll in a large(8 pieces) for our daughter. Peter got a small(which is 4 pieces) of the Dragon Roll — OMG this was to die for. Tempura in a roll with unagi and caviar. Drooling thinking of it now! DAYAM. And then he got the Katsu Chicken lunch set which comes much like any main — Crumbed Chicken, rice, salad and miso. I got the Miss Aisuru Salad which is a freaking must! AND some Teriyaki Tofu all of which we shared as we do. Funnily, our daughter didn’t share any of hers. She cleared the whole plate! BUT we needed a filler and ended it on a good gingery note and ordered a Samurai James. We washed this feast down with a Sapporo for me and a plum wine for my husband as that was our typical tradition but it had been about 22 days since I had a beer so I had to do it haha That my friends was thee feast of 2014 for us!!! Thank you Aisuru. I will be back.

It’s so refreshing to find a classic«fast food» with a twist. And doing it extremely well! Aisuru sushi, located in the Northbridge(and one in Subiaco), is one of many restaurants providing something a little edgy. Think sushi, but with rock and roll credentials. Owned by a lovely man, it took him 2 years to make the amazing menu at Aisuru that turns sushi from fast food to fine work of art with punches of flavours. Aisuru Sushi bar is very cool and I mean cool as in it’s clean, sleek an icy(thanks to blue florescent lights — which I really hate — reminds me of those lights used in toilets to prevent IV drug use). Despite the lights it has an ambiance of sexiness, and it’s so sleek and so streamlined(clean no clutter and unnecessary decorations — just the über awesome sushi bar in the centre) and it’s refreshing and the staff are friendly. You are warmly welcomed by waitresses with iPads who show you to your seat; whether it’s further inside away from the sushi bar or at the sushi bar where you can see sushi masters lightly sear the sushi plates with gas burners and create their work of art. Personally I like sitting at the bar to watch. We were extremely impressed by the menu. So extensive(vegetarians sushi included — not just your avocado sushi but interesting varieties). We couldn’t decide what to pick and wanted to try so many, so decided to stick to the«meat» and«seafood» dishes and try vego at a later date. They serve them in two sizes, but because JJ and I wanted so many things on the menu we opted for the smaller size(4 pieces of sushi). Everything on their menu is made fresh — no pre-rolled sushi. Only made when they receive their order. And the presentation of each of their dishes is a work of art, so complex, mixture of elements and textures and taste, yet all finely balanced to create a taste sensation. Aisuru Sushi is a busy place if you are not there early, but they have such friendly service, which checks up on you. They make amazing made-to-order sushi(which means that at peak time, the artistic pieces may not look all that great and the technique a little under par) along with having sashimi and other Japanese dishes. Aisuru Sushi is single-handedly changing what it means to eat sushi. I’m loving it! and I’ll be back for more!

I don’t mean to be a wet towel but this is truly a moment where I wish Unilocal would allow half stars. Aisuru sushi is exactly halfway between«a-ok» and«yay im a fan». I’ll start with the Pros. The service is insanely fast. I’m talking 10 minutes tops from the moment i sat down to the moment i received my first dish. The dinner rush had not hit yet, but well into my meal when it had, I saw consistently fast food flying off the pass and onto the tables. Watching your food being made is also a plus. If I hadn’t been stuffing my face with the delicious sushi, I would have likely partaken in a conversation or two with my sushi engineer. The combinations of flavours are interesting and delicious(more on that in the cons though). I ordered half sizes of the following: Black velvet, salmon skin, and spider, and a side of the tempura sweet corn. If I could individually rate everything taste-wise it would go a little something like 4, 3, 3, 5, respectively. And if you should take away anything from that sentence it should be that I give the sweet corn tempura two enthusiastic thumbs up! The truffle oil on top is to die for! And now the cons: Despite everything positive in the above sentence, I regret to make the observation that if you give me a butane torch and a squeezy bottle of mayo, I can also make a lot of magic happen. In fact, that seemed to be the theme here, and during the hour of my sitting at the bar, all I saw was torch, mayo, torch, mayo. And although the bottom line is that its«yay im a fan» sushi, it really hurt my soul to pay as I much as I did last night for something I believe you can achieve with a 3 dollar street roll with some bells and whistles. If you want to try something new, if you’re on a date, if its a mayo kinda night, if you found some proverbial benjamins in last night’s jeans, please, absolutely, come here. However, as much as I enjoyed it, I will leave the rest up to you.

Always busy and bustling Aisuru Sushi is one of the top Sushi joints in Perth. Service does seem to stop serving after 9pm(goddamn Perth!) Huge menu with lots of variety for every tastebud you can’t go wrong here. You even have a mix of un-conventional sushis(I saw one with sundried tomato?), standard classics(teriyaki chicken) and even a solid range of vegetarian and vegan options. We ordered the black velvet roll which had lots of crunch and was a bit tricky to handle with the chopsticks and sashimi which was plump and perfect. Both were cooked well and tasted yummy — I will return! The only reason I gave it 4 star instead of 5 star was because it can be SO busy sometimes so there is a bit of a wait and also that when we went in at around 9 and there were heaps of tables still full they told us that it would be one of the last orders of the night which made us a little anxious because we had just come in.

This is the sort of place we’re in dire need of back home on the Sunshine Coast. The good: — An extensive list of very creative and original sushi rolls(peppered with a handful of old favorites, like dragon, caterpillar, and rainbow rolls). — Solid, consistent, and visually appealing execution on the above-mentioned sushi rolls. — Very fast service; the place was nearly full when I dined here, yet my first roll arrived less than 5 minutes after I ordered it. — Reasonable prices and a good location. The bad: — The fish isn’t mind-blowingly fresh like at some of the best sushi places; it’s still plenty fresh and tasty, just not absolutely spectacular. — No real wasabi on offer. Overall, definitely worth a visit. Aisuru may not be the best sushi joint in the world, but I’d rank it as the second best sushi joint I’ve been to in Australia. If you’re a fan of ‘American’ style sushi, don’t miss this place!

A pretty laid back sushi joint with a difference! You can get standard stuff here, but then also sushi with names like Baconator and Philly cheese steak! Some really interesting combos here, bacon, tomato and asparagus sushi topped with a sweet omelette that looks like grated cheese? But then also traditonal sashimi, edamame, agedashi tofu and nigiri. If you sit at the bar you’ll watch your sushi deftly made with the hands of chefs who have done this before. Fresh as! So many options and great for friends who are vego or vegan — they’re catered for! Service is quiet, and not forced, as tends to be the norm with japanese places. Great location for Fringe/cultural centre events, and is pretty well priced. You can spend a lot if you want to, or not.

Yum yummy yummo! How could anyone pass by and not be interested? So it’s been 3 years since their opening and I have only had the chance to get there last night! How ignorance cannot be bliss! This place is just a delight to dine at and I have been missing out. Though it’s never too late to tap into one of these sushi creations with burstings of Flavours and textures with each mouth full. We had about 10 different dishes(entrée sizes to share) — our fav was the ‘black velvet’ — come and find out!!! Definitely Japanese with a creative twang. Yes there is a queue but it’s all worth waiting for… shame they don’t take bookings. wanting sashimi? This isn’t the place to go to.

Hmm, disappointed with Aisuru Sushi last night. Scored the table right in the corner on the far wall. This table is situated adjacent to the door leading to the toilets and somewhere where the kitchen staff take stuff, so the door was being opened and closed constantly, meaning a cold wind blowing on my food and blowing my serviette off my lap every couple of minutes or so. The wait staff were really sweet and attentive, and I liked the iPad manner of ordering, meaning you get to see a picture of all that you order off the quite extensive menu. We ordered five dishes, specifying no onion. I saw her write it down on her iPad. First two dishes came out so, so quickly. About 3 minutes, I’d say. Amazing. But slathered in spring onion. Not good. In these two instances, I could just knock it off(I have a severe intolerance to onion products — what a drag). When the third dish came out, the onion was within the dish, so not knockable. I said I had specifically noted ‘no onion’ and the girl was most apologetic, but then put it on the table anyway. Something lost in translation. I politely declined and asked for a re-do and they were very calm about it, doing it in about 5 minutes. No drama. The 4th dish came out onion free. The 5th dish… waiting, waiting… we had to chase it up. It was the soft shell crab salad and for $ 18, I would have expected something a little more substantial than one barely legal blue swimmer and a couple of pieces of what looked like snow crab parts, the size of my thumbs, sitting on top of a fair portion of lettuce(cheap filler). What’s worse, there had obviously been Spanish onion in the lettuce, meticulously removed. But my stomach still reacts when the food has been tainted. They didn’t know that, so I can’t fault them. They did remove the onion for the 5th dish, after all. I found the food to be beautifully presented, but fairly steeply priced, so not great value. The hassle with the onion was tedious. Having to chase up a dish not much fun. There is pretty heavy emphasis on creamy sauces, which some may like, but it’s not my thing. The service is sweet and attentive and the location is very convenient, right at the doorstep of the Cultural Centre, and within coo-ee of all the entertainment available in Northbridge. There is a blue cat bus stop on James Street, about 40m away.

We walked in on a Friday night on the onus that it was there, we hadn’t been before, and it was the closest food option on a cold winter night. Yes, that crazed Friday night walk in to a trendy place without a booking. The wait time wasn’t too long. Probably 5 minutes sitting on a cushioned bench indoors. Not really knowing what we were in for and knowing that there is/was,(I can never tell in Perth), a buzz about this place, I hit up Unilocal for a quick read. Unanimously, everyone had lost their minds over a fusion sushi bar. The list of ingredients,(including sauces), for each sushi roll is a paragraph long. We ordered small servings of each type. We had to order the Black Velvet Roll after so many mentions. Taste was spot on and it was delicious but my money is on that Torch Roll. That’s where it is for me. The dessert Banana Split Maki is a sweet tooth’s nirvana. Tempura banana pieces with a slice of kiwi fruit and quartered strawberry topped off with whipped cream, icing sugar drizzled with chocolate and raspberry sauce. It’s sweetness overload. I don’t like banana in any of my desserts but I did manage to eat two pieces of slimy warmed banana in tempura batter. It really wasn’t that bad and I did like it. Next time, I’m so ordering the Green Tea ice cream. Couple of tips for dining here. The prices are not in your regular corner sushi train place of choice range. It’s $ 10+ for a serving of four sushi pieces. They are large in size and there is no skimping on the fillings. There isn’t some ridiculously high rice to filling ratio here to maximise profits. To counter this when wanting to have a range of dishes, come in a group and the cost per head does come down.
