What a hidden gem! Me and my boyfriend stumbled upon this place walking along Newton and didn’t have any expectations and then bam! Favourite Japanese place for sushi! We have come back a few times since and it has never disappoint! The food is consistent along with their down-to-earth service. Just thinking about their food makes my mouth water! The ambience is quite nice at night with lit up candles around the restaurant but it is also rather casual with a café-like setup. I swear the awesome sauce they cram on their sushi is just like Kobe Jones’ «special sauce». I put in the stars for value mostly because they have achieved food better than Kobe Jones but at a reasonable price. Love this cozy place! Please don’t ever change!

My favourite sushi place, hands down! The spicy tuna rolls are the best I’ve had in Sydney, and I can’t get enough of their popcorn shrimp. I love how fresh and innovative all the dishes are, and the service is always super friendly and prompt. I’ve taken loads of people here and they all agree that this is some of the best sushi we’ve had in Australia. Thanks, Japone!

The first time I went I was pretty happy but the 2nd time I went I realized that most of the items on the train are not served to temperature. You might of course expect this from a sushi train but items that should be hot that aren’t kind of suck Also most items were really saucy and too rich for me, given I did choose deep fried and saucy things but this time they didn’t make me feel great or of course that could have been the FUZZYMOLD growing at the bottom of my friends sake carafe that really ruined it all for me. She pointed out something at the bottom and we just thought maybe it was discoloured but I got curious(especially after having some) and stuck a chopstick in and the thick green fuzz that came out was just a bit concerning. They of course took the sake off the bill but I might have done a bit more damage control than that. Anyways, I am on the fence about whether I will forgive and forget on this one or move on somewhere else.

Ordered salmon sushi combo, haloumi haloumi, spicy tuna roll and avocado roll. All was very good except for the tuna roll which was a little fishy and not very fresh tasting. Enjoyed the informative sake menu.

Nice and friendly staff. The food was tasty and they were happy to alter dishes. I did think the dish selection was a little small but enjoyed all the food.

If you’re a boring person who hates to try new dishes, or if you like ho-hum sushi trains, then don’t bother reading further. On the other hand, if you love to discover new places to dine with bold, exciting flavours, then too you should stop reading now, for you’re just wasting your time. So don’t read any more, don’t argue, just go, you won’t be disappointed. What, you’re still here? Perhaps you want to know what to order? I don’t remember the names of everything which we’ve tried and they don’t have a website where one could look up the menu, so I can’t help you there. But if you visit their facebook page, you will see many of their mouth-watering specials. Or check out a few blogs. And I’ll give you a tip, the more funky the description/ingredients, the more likely the dish will taste fantastic. For example, the Sashimi Tacos, Torched Sushi, Popcorn Shrimp, Cucumber Pops, Jalapeño Poppers all may sound pretty corny, but you will surely love the new flavours and taste sensations. They do have regular sushi and sashimi, but I still feel that boring people should stay away!

Very nice sushi rolls. The torched spicy salmon in particular! Friendly service, reasonable prices. We were very impressed.

Kaboom! At last, brilliant sushi to knock Sushi Train into a world of pain. Fresh, vibrant flavours combined with great service and an inspired menu to make me want to go back again. The lunch menu is amazing value for money– an easy 4 star rating from me.
