Easy access from Erko or Newtown. Quick takeaway. Table turnover is usually pretty fast. Usually a small line. There is no wine or beer but they offer BYO and there are a few close bottle shops. Overall decent sushi train or you can order off the menu. Coz…

Took a while to get seated. I guess that’s because it’s so good. The sushi is very nice and not to expensive. You can even order what you want them to make. Highly recommended.

It’s a sushi train: you sit, eat and get out. This specific branch usually gets busy around dinner time and there’s always a small waiting line, but the staff is friendly and very quick cleaning up, so people waiting can sit quickly. The sushi is fresh and tasty and there are some cool different kinds.

Been here twice for dinner before a movie and so far excellent service and food. They have a good selection and the sushi is very fresh. If they had lychee ice tea then it’d be close to perfect :)

I have an unhealthy obsession with sushi at the moment. Sushi train ticks most of my boxes. The one in Newtown is a bit crowded at times, so usually I’ll either do take away or try to get there later in the afternoon or earlier in the morning before the midday rush begins. Other than that, the food is pretty much on par with what most sushi places offer and I am totally in love with their mayonnaise. It’s unholy. The staff have always been friendly and efficient every time I visit, which is usually at least once a week.

Quality sushi, and is a bit more of an upmarket sushi establishment than the other Sushi Train outlets in Sydney. With the prawns comes some sort of a special sauce, and although this establishment gets quite crowded at the best of times; the service is just great and the food is quite tasty. The ambience isn’t as cheap as some of the other Sushi Train outlets. Used to come here before meditation. Now that meditation has moved to nearby Erskineville I don’t come to this establishment quite as much now. If you come here all the time you can easily get sick of the Sushi Train. once in a while, more than okay.

While I love to think of dining as an experience, I’m usually not down for gimmicky restaurants with awkward themes or live music. But I always thought of conveyor belt sushi as an exciting approach to this overexposed Japanese export, provided that the sushi is actually good. Okay, I know this isn’t exactly Nobu, but Sushi Train is pretty satisfying for a quick sushi dinner that’s fresh and serviced by a truly Japanese staff. The ultimate benefit of this restaurant is that the menu essentially zips right in front of you, allowing you to see what looks good and grab it in an instant. All of my selections were fresh, proven by the Sushi chefs behind the«train» swiftly plating new dishes. You can order a la carte off the menu as well. The colors of the plates dictate the prices, which range from around $ 3 to $ 5 each. Make sure to get the chicken schnitzel roll, a unique one for the taste buds! This particular branch is quite small and a bit cramped, but I suggest trying to get the table by the entrance if you want your own space. All the other seats are directly at the bar. I plan on eating at this particular Sushi Train as regularly as my sushi cravings manifest each week.

Sushi train is dependable for a quick meal which is tasty and meets a certain standard. If you can actually get a seat. There are so few seats in Sushi Train Newtown that it’s not abnormal to see people queued up out the door, or stuffing sushi into a plastic tray to take away. When I went I was the one getting takeaway, while there were three people waiting to sit down. I would have liked to sit down and even though there were spare seats available for two, due to there being three people waiting in front of me, my partner and I couldn’t sit down. But when a single person walked in they jumped the queue and got a seat straight away! I was pretty annoyed but the staff didn’t care. As the seats are side by side along the ‘train’ it’s difficult to get the configuration of patrons right. They need a better system I reckon! It’s lucky the sushi is so good otherwise they would have greater customer issues.
