I’ve been to the Glenferrie outing of Beer Deluxe a number of times now. You get what you expect from the name, a beer variety fit for a king. With many different beers of all styles available on tap(plus many more as bottles in the fridge) and are regularly changing, Beer Deluxe is a beer lovers dream, and generally at pretty reasonable prices too. The food however isn’t as good as you’d hope though, eventually you don’t enjoy leaving like you’ve digested a significant amount of oil AND butter — to the point where even the $ 6 night(everything on the menu is $ 6) doesn’t become that exciting. It’s pretty expensive on other days than a Tuesday too. The beer selection and prices though is enough to warrant giving Beer Deluxe four stars. All pints are $ 6 on Monday nights where they try to clear the lines(get in early to make the most of the selection), and a limited amount few are $ 6 on a Tuesday too.

Love it. Love it. Love it. I am all about beer. Beer DeLuxe is all about beer. I am all about Beer Deluxe. My mate and I came here just the other day after stopping off at his new café for a bite to eat. The entire time I was across the road eating lunch my eyes kept creeping across the road to those big red letters and big red star. I was keen. We entered through the big, beer-tap-handled door to find a pleasantly set out bar and a large variety of beer ahead of us. I kept exclaiming this and that whenever I noticed a beer that Australians are usually oblivious to. You know, those amazing Bavarian wheat beers or those belgian light ales that have a surprising amount of alcohol in them. Beer DeLuxe was all over the deluxe beers. I got myself a coconut Brown Ale by the name of… Kokonatsu. However you pronounce that. It was surprisingly light and smooth for what it was as well. I was deeply saddened when my pint too-quickly ran dry. I would have had another but this place(to my regret) has regular Melbourne prices of $ 12 a pint, except on Mondays. Get down here after 4pm on a Monday to enjoy the same great beer for just $ 5. I’m pretty sure I will. Beer Deluxe has this, it has that, it has pretty much every variety of beer from hoppy american-style pale ale to delicious espresso stout. Get. Around. Beer DeLuxe.

Awesome option in Hawthorn for Pub style food and an awesome range of bottled and on tap beers. This is a great place to catch up with a friends or even for pre drinks before trying some of the great local restaurants(Orto being one). If you live near Bridge Road in Richmond this only a couple of Ks down the road. There’s ample parking out the front, but if you are wanting to chill out a bit after a trying out a few beers why not head to Barranow’s Cigar lounge up on the corner of the main intersection!
