The layout of the shop makes no sense, with customers forced to block the entrance and each other to queue and order. Service is slow and staff not in any hurry to clear tables to provide space for someone else to sit down. Food took ages, and not at the same time. When the burgers did arrive they were burnt. Staff not apologetic it was obviously burnt, and that we wanted to have unburnt food! Ribs were apparent good — but not worth the wait.

First time i ever had ribs and burgers was in sydney at the rhodes store. They can do full racks or half racks of ribs, combos or just the burger. You have to add on if it doesnt come with chips or salad. I find it pretty pricey as its kind of like a takeway fast food joint. Very tasty and good for a quick meal. Definitely come here if you enjoy getting your fingers sticky. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Burgers patties were burnt. I could taste the charcoal off the patty. Service was subpar/non existent. Ribs themselves were OK but not worth it for the price. Definitely don’t get the burgers And parking is difficult

Ribs & Burgers was busy when we were there for a mid-week bite, but even busier was the crowd waiting to pick up/take-away their night’s grub, showing there’s a lot of love for this place in Hawthorn central. Eating in is very casual dining, similar to eating at a Grill’d where you pay when you walk in and the food gets brought out when ready. There’s plenty of options ranging from around $ 10 a burger up to $ 17 or so, depending on how crazy you want to go. Our table enjoyed an Aussie burger(HUGE), Old School Cheese(Simple but delish), and I had the Beef Short Rib Burger, which I reasoned was a good entry point seeing how it is the best of both worlds. Pretty outstanding burger. We got a large chips to share, but barely touched them as the burgers were very filling.(From what I tried didn’t really see why they were«famous» though… seemed pretty stock-standard). Looking around the tables seemed pretty evenly split between the ribs and the burgers, but the rib racks that did pass us by on the way to their destination looked and smelt pretty good. Good enough to come back for.

Ribs or burgers? Why choose?! This place has both and they do them well, although I prefer the burgers. Lovely, bright space with friendly staff and ample seating. I’ve had the original burger with American cheese, and it was a great basic burger. The Old School Cheese is a no-go for me: too greasy, it’s like a quarter pounder on steroids. Today I had the Short-Rib, and it was the best I’ve had so far. I think the chimichurri was the real kicker here along with the fall-apart rib that’s been cooked for 8 hours. The ribs are good but messy and I always make use of their handy sink towards the back of the restaurant to clean my face!

Love the Ribs 5 The price of the BBQ pork Riblets for $ 19.50 is amazing. Plus you get huge side of chips. Be ready to get stuffed. PS try the Milo Thick shake. Out of this world.

Lunched here today w/work mates. we shared the baby pork ribs and ordered individual burgers. I had the wagyu, the others had the original and cheese n bacon. The wagyu I had was great! Just the right amount of sauce to offset the crunchy battered onions. The patty was chargrilled w/crisps on the edges. It was great but nothing ground breaking. or deserving of any special mention. A gd burger none the less. I still prefer the Sth Melbourne Traders wagyu burger though. They use raw wasabi! The ribs however … hmmmm what can I say… uh edible I guess. But for $ 30!!! gees! meat does not fall off. It does not taste like its smoked(for $ 30 it should be!!) n it’s tiny! go to Costco n u can get an already marinated one for less. And BIGGER! Overall the experience was good. But would I /we return? Prob not.

Ribs and Burgers is a hit or miss — Definitely a miss for me as the ribs was a bit dry and wasn’t anywhere near tender. Quite disappointed due to all the hype. Despite the food, the atmosphere and service was lovely.

Despite the name, this place is all about the ribs(not the burgs). Pork ribs are the go — with a delicious coating of sticky BBQ sauce. The beef ribs are also tasty, but are a heftier meat to take on and are by nature, less fatty and succulent than the pork. Oh and their milkshakes are some kind of amazing. If you swing that way, expect thick and creamy awesomeness in a ice-cold aluminum cup. All ribs come with chips or salad so no need to order them separately. The atmosphere is casual and the restaurant is hip but very family friendly. No bookings are taken, and you order and pay at the counter before being seated.

These guys offer a solid value for money meal for this area.(Hawthorn/Kew) Love the décor and atmosphere — pretty original. I really liked the wall decorated with meat grinders! Also, the had-washing trough is a great touch! I had the ribs — these were American style pork ribs. They weren’t too bad for Aussie standards. Yummy!(That said, do not think that you’ll get ‘real’, falling-off-the-bone ribs here.) Others had the burgers which they thought were above average.(Just don’t forget to order them with cheese.) I tried my son’s and wasn’t impressed, but it was a bit cold by that point. The best item we had was the onion rings. They were delicious, if a bit greasy. I feels like they still need to work out a few of the kinks in the service. We got there and there was a crowd around the menu and counter. As first-timers, we didn’t really understand what was going on. They’d benefit from better signage and instructions. Or, they could decide if they want to go pub-style or restaurant style — it felt a bit in between, and not really achieving either. They have this thing called ‘Pink’ on the menu that comes on lot’s of stuff. There’s no explanation of what ‘pink’ is unless you ask. Evidently it’s Mayo + Ketchup + ‘secret ingredient’(I suspect to be paprika). It’s not bad, but try it first. Not the sort of thing you want all over your kid’s burger before they try it. Speaking of the ketchup, I find it a little odd that they use a South African brand. I’m open to new things, but there’s lots of varieties of tomato sauce available here in Oz — and one thing about ketchup(and tomato sauce, to draw a distinction) is that it’s a highly regionalised taste. Also, if they are trying for an American flavour, why not stick with good ‘olé Heinz — either local or imported from the US. My personal suggestions are: Bibs! These are greasy finger food; Sauce-covered meat sticks for god’s sake! Give us bibs! And lot’s more napkins. A fingerbowl or wetnap would be helpful too. So, I applaud the owners for having a strong go in this pretty tough market. I think that they have a good concept, atmosphere, and good food. With a few tweaks, I think you’ll be seeing more of them.

If you play the game right, this is the best burger place for miles, in my opinion. I have been hankering for a place that does US style burgers and does them well. Many of the brioche buns in Melbourne’s highly regarded burgers places are overly sweet. This bun is good, seeded and light but it’s the patty which really sets this place apart. It’s charcoal on the outside, pink and juicy on the inside with no overriding herbs and spices, it really does speak for itself. The chips are thin and don’t leave the overly full(read stuffed) feeling I get when trying to get through those which support the burgers at Grilled. I mean, I could always NOT get chips… but a burger and chips together is a rite of passive if you’re going to go for a take out burger — you get the chips! And for $ 10 for a basic burger + $ 4 for small chips — #i’lltakethechips In addition to the basic burger you can add bacon, cheese(I added American and it was sloppy, I’ll go without next time). There are various flavours and proteins you can order too, plus a vegie burger. Plenty for everyone. The fit out of the shop is excellent, lots of booths and a filtered water tap for you to help yourself as well as condiments to dip your chips(or burger) into. Take what you want, order at the bar and enjoy the experience. They haven’t got a liquor licence yet(they’ve applied). Windows can be lifted in summer and a good thing, I can see myself spending a LOT of time here. #burgerseveryday

I was expecting better after all of the reviews. Not worth the visit if you looking for a good burger in Hawthorn. There are better burger joints within a few km’s of Ribs and Burgers.
