Popped in for lunch last Sunday after a flick at Dendy. I ordered the Mahgreb Haloumi dish that was a lot of fried Haloumi, humous and lebanese bread — exactly what I felt like at the time! The Haloumi wasn’t as salty as some that I have tasted, which was pleasing. My dining companion had the chicken Caesar that was chock full of chicken, prosciutto and other goodies! Very generous and yummy servings!

Atmosphere was nice, but food was sub-par and over priced for what it was. Had the haloumi entrée, lasagna and gnocchi. The lasagna was ok but small, and the gnocchi was terrible. The service seemed short staffed for how many tables.

I have been here twice so far, once for breakfast and once for dinner. Both times were equally as good. Chez Laila is a stylish café and restaurant at Portside Wharf. It has comfy lounge chairs, a huge artsy coffee photo covering the back wall, fancy marble counters and vibrant red and brown hues in the decorations. Last night I came here for dinner with a friend. The waiter was attentive and service was fast. We shared a pizza, one of the best pizzas I ever! Warm juicy chicken, rich tomato sauce, fresh baby spinach and large shavings of warm parmesan cheese. I am not sure what the house wine was but I enjoyed it regardless. The other time i was here was for breakfast with my family when a cruise ship was in. It was busy but the staff didn’t seem phased, the service was equally as good. The pancakes were fluffy and served with the right amount of cream. I will definitely go back.
