Although I am not a fan of standard ‘yum cha’, the Bamboo Basket is great for both eat in and take away. You order your food from the waiter and it is cooked fresh. The only problem is it all tends to come out at about the same time and it can crowd your table. We usually order several types of dumplings rather than large meals and they are all good.

Sometimes in life there are places you want to explore and you’re thinking… maybe another time? Trust your gut instinct and be daring! Give this place a go! Bamboo basket has the most fresh yumchai delicacies you can get. Made instantly the moment you order! Might be slightly more expensive… but for fresh ingredients, a good vibe and excellent customer service it is worth it. We tried 3⁄5th of their yumchai delicacies and on side, stir-fried noodles and fried rice. Very light, refreshing and easy on the mouth and stomach. So next time your in hamilton and think this place looks great. go in and let your taste buds delight you.

Bamboo Basket recently opened up a branch in the Portside Wharf in Hamilton, QLD. I tried the BBQ pork and wonton noodle soup available from their lunch menu. I was looking for a non-greasy meal and the soup was exactly what I wanted. I didn’t bother putting any other additional seasoning. The soup and noodles were light with punctuations of savory flavor provided by the BBQ pork and the won tons. I was immediately attended to and even given a whole jug of ice cold water. I know that doesn’t mean much to some people, but I think it is a fine example of good customer service. Other places don’t bother to serve you water and don’t even care if the water is lukewarm. I was really satisfied with the meal, service, and the restaurant was well presented. I’ll be happy to make another visit to sample the other items on the lunch menu.
