Amazing coffee! Just what I needed! The food was astonishing! Green eggs, ham, bacon, chorizo, bacon and a side of yummy toast! Great atmosphere, but get in early to get a table!

Another foray into«a new brunch» place paid off today. We both had Spanish Eggs with chorizo, olives, Spanish onions, feta, sun dried tomatoes & baby spinach with Turkish toast. Very tasty, and nice to se the chorizo was soft and easy to eat. Most meals are«scrambled eggs», hence the name I think, but there are other choices. Lots of different ingredients used, makes the choice difficult but also encourages you to come back to try another variation. Ordered«well done» Turkish toast, and a «hot» skinny latte, both served as requested. Staff very friendly, service quick. Fabulous background music, not too loud. Great décor, relaxing and not«squashy» We will be back.

I love this place. Great coffee and whatever dish I’ve had has been amazing. The ultimate meal has to be the Green Eggs! Yummy fluffy scrambled eggs with swirls of pesto! Pancakes are great too if you feel like something sweet to start your day!

Had the vegetarian breakfast. The mash?! Good gods, I wanted to order just a huge bowl of that on it’s own! Everything is still done to perfection and it’s always service with a smile from these gals. Loving the local café!

Well Scramble me crazy, their eggs, which are free-range folks, are divine! A one minute prance down the street from my house, I pass Scrambled everyday, and just as often mutter, «One day … You and me, one day.» It was as though Scrambled had blurred itself into the backdrop of my daily cruise down Enmore Street, and for that reason, I was no longer intrigued by the cozy wooden tables outside or the light, fresh inside ambiance that radiated tattoos and show posters … But behold, the awesomeness that was a post-Thursday party, Friday afternoon brunch at Scrambled! The menu is modestly priced, with breakfast costing between $ 10 and $ 15, and coffee prices your average. Our large skim caps were massive and delectable, in fun red mugs that made sipping from them feel like I was at a Little Red Riding Hood themed party… And then the food came … First things first, I rarely eat eggs, and I couldn’t tell you the last time I had a biteful of baby chicken. This may be why these were some of the most savory, delicious eggs I’ve ever had… Scrambled eggs with haloumi and mustard seed($ 12) doesn’t sound all too exciting, but they were fluffy and cheesy and everything«y» you could probably name. They were served with toasted turkish and mushrooms for good measure, making the meal complete and out of this world. We also ordered the breakfast quesadilla($ 12), which was garlic flavored and packed with slightly spicy red beans, peppers, and onions. OLE! Two perfectly poached eggs on the side and a sprinkle of springtime salad and avocado helped make for a morning of Mexican nostalgia. Minus the tequila. It wasn’t midday yet. This plate was festive, fresh, and fun, but not truly memorable … Overall, Scrambled has squirmed it’s way out of backdrop bordem and salsaed it’s was into my breakfast behavior.

A rude awakening by a text message telling me I had to be in Marrickville in half an hour is no way to start the day. Unable to eat breakfast because of the time constraints, I drank some water and hopped onto my bike. Cycling like I mad, I made my way to the destination; we were doing some reconnaissance on a space we were using for a music video clip. I arrived late, hungry and without coffee in my blood stream. The space looked good, the floors were measured and the cat was strangely fascinated by the yellow measuring tape that we used. The decision to get breakfast before any further reconnaissance was a welcome one and one that I embraced whole heartedly. Although my call was to get a Pork Roll, I succumbed to the notion of frequenting a café in Enmore called Scrambled and I cycled back up the road to our breakfast destination. The waiter was new but friendly and after some back and forth regarding the nitty gritty of the menu, we ordered. I got a Salmon Stack and a Soy Cappuccino. They arrived and I tell you what, they looked amazing. Two pieces of toasted Turkish bread, generous heaps of Salmon and two poached eggs, all sitting on top of artistically laid out spanish onions and some kind of creamy dressing. The pain of being woken up and shipped out before I even had a chance to wipe the sleep from eyes had somehow turned into the ecstasy of biting into a salmon ladened piece of turkish bread with warm egg yolk dripping from its surface.

Sitting down looking at Scrambled’s menu this morning, my boyfriend exclaimed(slightly louder than is publicly appropriate) «Why don’t we come here all the time?!» Scrambled’s menu is cheap cheap cheap. Or at least reasonable, and much cheaper than the Inner West norm. «Bacon and Egg roll for $ 7.50?!» He excitedly pointed out, grabbing my attention by frantically tapping at the menu. «That’s what it should be!» The menu is great, with heaps of equally appealing options. Many of these options naturally involve some kind of scramble, from scrambled eggs folded with crème fraîche, chives and smoked salmon to pesto scrambled eggs and a vegan scrambled tofu. Just your simple scramble with toast(white, brown, turkish, spelt turkish or gluten free) is only $ 8 and is a perfected basic. The meals are filling, tasty and cheap. Coffee is good(didn’t catch the beans) and the frappes are smooth and delicious, made with real frozen chunks of fruit. Plus, it’s cool. Nothing fancy, nothing pretentious, just posters of upcoming local gigs lining the walls, friendly staff and a chilled crowd of regulars. A simple alternative and a new favourite.

The name says it all really. If you’re in the mood for an egg-focused brekkie, come to Scrambled. Maybe you had a big night out at the Enmore the night before, like I did, in which case you’ll be ordering coffee straight off the bat and replenishing your body with all the food it’ll take. While the café itself is a little rough around the edges, that’s half its charm. Pull up a chair that doesn’t match the one your companion’s butt is sitting on and soak up the buzzing atmosphere. It can get a little noisy for sore heads, but hey, it’s nothing a good cup of coffee can’t fix. In all honestly, the café could probably do with a bit of an upgrade(some clean, new menu print-outs and better cups maybe), but the unassuming exterior just makes the food that much more of a welcome surprise. This is simple, hearty food the locals love.

Great breakfast/lunch/brunch place with authentic grungy, not-trying-for-it cool. Gig posters line the walls, tiny wooden tables are surrounded by bright yellow mismatched chairs and a blackboard at the back suggests you make use of the ‘astounding healing powers’ of fruit and veggie juices. The perfect place to roll out of bed at 11am and stagger to, never taking off your mirrored sunglasses as you sit with a friend at the front table in your hat and faded Run DMC t-shirt which is older than you are and leave your legs outstretched on an extra seat, sip juice and leave half your huge breakfast untouched as the effort of consuming it is just too much. Or so I imagine. My life isn’t quite that interesting, but my solo coffee here the other day was great, the vibe was relaxed and I got a chance to imagine the other customer’s lives. And the lovely waitress looked shocked when I brought my empty cup back to her(a Mountains habit, I sometimes forget). Try it, you’ll get a lovely smile.

Scrambled is an inner west institution. It’s really as simple as that. Well and truly living up to its name, this cozy café on bustling Enmore Road delivers mouthwatering eggs — organic and free range no less — in an array of delicious combinations that demand repeat visits. I opted for poached eggs on toast with a side of avocado and was not disappointed — this place can poach a perfect egg. Alas I was less impressed with the coffee. My skim cap was both on the bitter and thin side, but I have it on good authority from regular Scramblers that the coffee usually passes muster. And if the service is a bit slow, who cares? These eggs are worth the wait.
