Great coffee good hours. A little pricey but the availability is compensation enough. Wheelchair access from both King st and enmore road. Even when busy it’s quiet enough to converse or meet or think or work.

Overpriced, low quality food, terrible coffee and bad service. Avoid this place and go across the road to corellis instead.

I love going to Buzzzbar… so it’s convenient that it seems to be perpetually open! Whether you are after breakfast, lunch, dinner, a coffee or a late night tipple, this place has got you covered. My favourite is the pot of chai latte(big enough to share) and the lunch sandwiches, all quite tasty and often brought out to you by the cheerful owner himself. The back half of the café(entry via a driveway on Enmore Rd) is cute and more sheltered from the incessant hum of Newtown traffic, and often hosts a guitarist or the like on a Friday or Saturday night. Definitely on the more ‘rustic’ side of things, but worth checking out!

Just had a steak here, it was cooked perfectly(rare) and the chips were done right, and the coffee was hot

squeezed between Enmore and King St, Buzz Bar has great coffee and fine tea. Inconsistent service but consistently decent food. The courtyard is great — nice and easy to nip out the back for a cigarette, yep there are a few of us still around who enjoy a smoke after food(and at various other times in a day). I have spent hours here with only my laptop and to many coffees, and shared many brunches, and lunches with various friends as we all find it a great spot for a quick meal in passing.

I admit, I’m guilty of having walked pass this seemingly bland street-side café more times than I can remember. The sign in front is by no means spectacular, and with the exception of the two tables outside, there’s really no «draw factor.» Until you get inside. Sitting inside of Buzz feels like you’re sitting at your«cool Aunt’s house.» You know, «Alternative Aunt Linda» with the tattoos and piercings who always tried to sneak you wine when you were a kid? Yeah, it’s like being at her house. The inside area is bright and full of rotating artwork from local artists. Currently there’s a «Newtown-esque» collage collection that adds an alternative edge to your soy latte. They have FREEWI-FI and tons of really easy-to-work-at tables so you don’t feel like you’re hogging the place for hanging out hours on end. Which I do. However, the wi-fi can drop out, which is irritating when you’re really looking forward to having a skype chat with your family. The staff is friendly, edgy and young and you can definitely tell that despite having an «out of sync boss,» they’re the ones running the place. The music selections are great, but unfortunately the last few times I’ve been there it’s been incredibly loud, making it difficult to work in … The leafy outside hideaway is lovely, as is the fact that the wi-fi reaches all the way out there! Café claustrophobia is commonly had by us Unilocalers, and to be able to sit in a lovely, quaint, outdoor covered area with outlets and heaps of seating is somewhat unheard of. It keeps you from feeling guilty about sitting in a café and writing away when you have the sun tickling your face and keeping you warm. Although I’ve never had the food — due to my budget, definitely not the menu — everything that has gone by has looked lovely! They have a café menu full of salads and wraps with tons of veggie options, and a tapas menu, too. The tapas run around $ 5 or $ 6, which is really reasonable for Sydney. Buzz is also BYO, although they charge $ 2.50 per person for corkage, which is the only downside. Reason being, they’re fully licensed with a fully stocked bar, and place more emphasis on those drinks rather than BYO. Either way, whether you’re in for a morning coffee, an afternoon salad, or an evening skype chat, Buzz is a beautiful King Street hideaway that will let you feel at home for as long as you please… Until you find yourself drunk off your edgy Aunt’s wine and needing to head home.

wifi, comfy couches, food or tea or coffee or wine or dessert, close to the train station, and open late… this place is a winner! It’s a good place to chill out with a book, your laptop, or chat with a friend.

Warm & inviting Buzzz Bar(I like to pronounce it Buzzzz Bar) and it’s $ 5 tapas specials is a homely place to while away a Winter’s afternoon, and it’s outdoor seating is fun for summer people-watching. That’s *newtown* people watching, people! My potato & rosemary tortilla tastes like home cooking, my haloumi is lovely & lemony, the staff are chilled, I dig it.

Quirky little café with good coffee and excellent cakes. A reliable favourite on King St.

Funky café: what else would you expect in Newtown? Chilled out and comfortable at the same time, though, and not too-cool-for-you. There’s a back entrance from Enmore Rd, and a small, dark room with a few small tables at that end of the building, separate from the main room. Better for a private meal. We stopped in for some grub before a gig down the road, and really enjoyed it. The menu didn’t have anything unusual — salads and pastas ad grilled meats — but everything was fresh and well-made and tasty.

Oh you Newtown folk have all the fun. With your cute cafes, your grungy dives and your enviable range of restaurants. Now I can add Buzzz Bar to my list of places I’d happily while away a morning, or an evening! It seems others have the same idea because Buzzz Bar can get pretty bustling of an evening. That probably has a lot to do with the gorgeous outdoor garden area, which is a veritable sanctuary when you consider you’ve just stepped off King Street. The plan was to have a quick catch up drink with a couple of friends, but of course we settled in. Then at some stage we spied the cakes — and immediately we were done for. One slice of heavenly/devilishly good flourless chocolate cake and three forks, please. Oh yes it turns out this place has plenty to buzz about.

This place is great for almost anytime of the day. The main area is fresh and light with some lovely art on display while out back there is a gorgeous outdoor garden full of leafy loveliness and comfy seating. The menu is diverse with lots of savoury snacking options, great fro a late breakfast or casual lunch, though the sweet menu is what has most people coming back. The cakes and tarts on offer could rival any Parisian patisserie and there’s also plenty of Gluten free versions available. I’ve got to say that the flourless chocolate cake is the best of them all, though I’d recommend avoiding if you don’t like rich food! This cake is thick and luxurious and worth skipping the rest of the meal for! I found the service could be a little variable, I think it depends on which day you go as some waiters are as charming as can be while others make it very obvious they’d rather be somewhere else!

The Buzzzbar Café opens for breakfast(Well 10am, so for me that’s pretty late) and lunch but I like heading here for some dinner and a drink. Actually the drink is usually priority and the food may or may not follow. It’s a cool little bar that can be difficult to get in to but ‘buzzz’ is quite appropriate because at night it is certainly buzzing with good tunes and a fun atmosphere. The small bar revolution is starting to hit Newtown but this place has been around the traps for a while so if you’ve ever around King Street and after a drink, or a late breakfast or lunch or dinner it’s well worth stopping in to the Buzzzbar Café.

You know those moments when only a big slab of cake will do? Well, I had one of those moments the other evening. I was promptly whisked off to Buzz bar for dessert — with promises of bountiful slices of gooey cakes. Sure enough, lined up on the counter, there were enough cakes to feed an army. There were classics like Flourless Chocolate, Carrot, Chocolate Truffle and Caramel Cheesecake as well as more unusual Honey, Lavender and Walnut. They also had a selection of muffins and gelato. After the initial disappointment that they’d run out of Chocolate and Oat cookies, we chose a slice of the Chocolate Flourless and a slice of the Honey, Lavender and Walnut. The waitress was sweet, but seemed to have difficulty working out how to cut us a slice. After quite a long time, she managed it, and brought over to of THE most enourmous slice I’ve ever seen(not that I’m complaining). The chocolate flourless was nice, with a crisp top, but definitely not as gooey as I was expecting. I thought the whole point of not adding flour was to make it extra squidgy(as well as enabling coeliacs their share of chocolatey goodness). But this slice actually needed ice cream to help it slip down. Perhaps a chocolate flourless muffin would’ve been a better choice, as it would be more likely to be fresh. The Lavender, Honey and Walnut cake was equally dry, and I found it too overpoweringly honeyed. There was no taste of lavender whatsoever, and although the walnuts added a lovely nutty crunch, they too were soaked in honey. We ordered some extra vanilla ice cream to help soothe our aching teeth, which helped dull the sweetness to an extent. The cakes certainly eased my craving, but I wouldn’t say they were the best cakes I’ve ever tried. I might be back to taste the cheesecake or the carrot cake, but it’s not high on my list of priorities. Saying that however, Buzz café is more than just a place for cake. They have a menu filled with other delicious dishes — the nachos looked delicious, and they must be doing something right because the restaurant was full. They have a lovely area out the back which has been tastefully decorated with candles, flowers and lights, which would definitely make a great place to have dinner. I’d say this restaurant would be worth a visit, if you’re in the area, but isn’t worth going out of your way for.

Dragged from the confines of my house on Saturday night, we ended up at the Buzz Bar café for a friend’s birthday. A red interior greets you at this venue with high ceilings and 2 rooms, which scared the hermits off my back. All my insociable laziness was blown away when I entered the outdoor garden sanctuary private function area. There were candles lined down the stairs and along the ledges and with the leafy indoor plants and moonlight it was truly magnificent. I ended up having a great night with $ 5 drink specials for the function attendees and a distinct variety of party food. What is also really cool about this venue is that the some of the staff double as in-house entertainment, showcasing their singing and music expertise in the bar at the discretion of the manager Hong, who is incredibly hospitable. Yes after 1 or 2 the buzz of the party made it almost impossible not to be bubbly and vivacious and I couldn’t think of any good excuses to leave and head home.
