There’s a reason I love this place. Actually there’s a few. As you walk on by along Enmore Rd you don’t notice Café Olé tucked away on the corner, across the road from Sultan’s Table. Blink and you’ll miss it, but the huge windows are usually thrown open with seating inside and some along the side street if you want to sit outside. There’s menu’s pegged along the back wall behind the counter and there’s chicken. Portuguese style. What that should tell you is that it’s bloody yummy! My favourite thing to get here is a quarter chilli chicken and a tub of their greek salad. Then cut up my chicken into the salad and voila, a warm chicken salad which is all the nom. They also have chicken strips which are spicy yet all the more delicious. Go in and try their foods, it’s good, promise.

Checking out the earlier reviews, we decided to give Olé a try. For the price, it was worth every cent! The beef burger I had was big and delicious and there a generous serving of chips. My partner had the chicken wrap and really enjoyed it. Best place round the corner for a quick meal!

Adultery is not something that comes easily to me. Catholic guilt has stayed with me far longer than the religion ever did. So, it is with a heavy heart that I say this: Nandos, I cheated on you. Look, we had some good times — sure. Remember when you opened your first restaurant on Chalk Farm Road in 1996? Those were the sepia-tinged glory years. I have despatched many a spatchcock within your walls. Hey, don’t look at me with those eyes. Don’t make this harder than it needs to be. But you’re different here to how you were in the UK. You don’t treat your birds with the same care as before, and I’m a red-blooded male with needs. Those needs are delightfully tender chicken, crispy chips. The lot. Olé is my new beau. So cheap, but not nasty.

Remember when Oporto used to have that awesome chilli sauce, the one they applied separately to the mayo? Remember when they used to cook stuff fresh? Remember when it wasn’t like kind of crappy fast food? Olé’s Portugese chicken burgers are like that. But maybe even rather better. Fresh, tasty chicken, delicious chilli sauce, chips always cooked to perfection… Yeah. I think I just talked myself into it for tomorrow’s dinner.
