Wow what a cute little find I made! I had some time to kill before getting my haircut, so I popped into Silverbean as it was across the road. The menu looked really simple which is great if you only want one thing. for me? JAVA! They have three options for a caffeine experience. 1. Organic Coffee 2. Chai Latte(they brew their own blend) 3. or Hot Chocolate I went with the coffee, flat white, shot of vanilla syrup and soy. WOW. This coffee is good. Some people can mess up coffee with soy but these guys frothed it real good. I wasn’t hungry but I was happy to see both vegetarian and vegan options on the menu! There is seating inside and out… be sure to check out the antique cash register. The staff is really friendly and made small talk about my move from Chicago(they picked up on the american accent) and what I was doing in Newtown. Make sure to bring cash, they don’t accept cards.

This place is really great. We are locals and go quite often. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. The chocolate French toast and the salmon stack are especially good.

Just rolled into town after traveling for over 30 hours and needed to find coffee. Luckily that is not hard in Sydney. Not sure what made me pick this place, but I did and was very happy. I simply had an americano and sat and wrote some emails. The guys working there was very nice and quickly brought me everything I needed. I did not understand that it would be table service(a place like this would not be table service in the US), so he probably thought I was a bit of an oaf(particularly when I went wandering around on my own to find milk). My coffee was excellent. I didn’t get anything special, but that actually highlighted how good of a brew it was. Free wifi is nice and I like the old singer tables.

Cool little setup with that old school American feel. Blink and you’ll miss it however so keep your eyes open.

Seated and then promptly forgotten about. Coffee took 15 minutes to come after order. Food has been over 45 minutes and still waiting and the café isn’t particularly busy. AVOID.

This place has seriously yummy food. I’ve gone here for lunch a couple of times and have never been disappointed. This is not-so-typical café food… food has a Southern US states-type-food thing going on. They have specials on the blackboard that you aren’t on the website menu. I’ve ordered a pork dish and it was really good. My only complaint would be that sometimes the food takes a wee bit long to make. It’s a tad pricier than other cafes but that’s because the food is infinitely more awesome.

A tale of 2 halves Food & coffee was pretty average. Far from bad but not worth returning for given the options stretching from Marrickville to Newtown. Service and character of the fit-out was amazing. Real effort and pride is evident from the moment you sit down

We went here for breakfast. With breakfast we weren’t disappointed. The food was fantastic. I ordered the ricotta, tomato & avocado bagel. It was heavenly. The only gripe I have is that there was no air con. The heat was unbearable and by 11.30 am they had run out of ice so therefore our ice coffee’s came with no ice cream. They couldn’t supply us with the iced drinks at all. And when there’s no air con in your store, the least you can do is supply us with ice. The service was great and we had a bit of a joke around with our waitress. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was due to the heat and lack of ice. On hot summer mornings these things are a bit essential. Or fans. Fans would also have been nice.

Great place with a nice 50’s American theme. All the tables are made from olden sewing tables which have those inclined foot rests so one person at each table will be slightly more comfortable than the rest. One of the best things about this place is how eager the staff are to accommodate your strange tastes. I asked for bacon and eggs on pancakes with maple syrup(which I thought was quite common) and they obliged without hesitation. I would, and have done, recommend this to friends.

I love this little place! They’ve gone to real effort to give it character and personality, the staff are really friendly and the food and coffee’s great.
