I tried Hudson’s corner back when they first opened and wasn’t too fussed with the portion sizes or pricing so I decided to wait a little while and see if things improved once they had found their feet so to speak. I decided to give them another go on a particularly lazy night, so my partner and I ordered the Bag-O-BBQ from the takeaway menu as it seemed like pretty decent value. Holy wow, so glad we gave them another chance. The pulled work was absolutely freaking amazing, the portion size was spot on, the pork was melt in your mouth, seriously couldn’t have asked for better. The chips were kind of soggy and weird which was disappointing but we were pretty full from the rolls anyway so it didn’t really matter. I would totally recommend these guys if you’re looking for awesome American. Don’t bother with other American options in the area(cough *wingblaster* cough), Hudson Corner is da bomb!

My first ever review(does that say something??). Visiting from out of town, happened to walk by HC while passing through Albion, immediately pegged my ‘last supper’ meal to be here before returning to Sydney. To be up front, I wouldn’t say this is as epic as Blue Bonnet in Melbourne or the like, hoooowever the wings were really tasty, the pulled pork was moist and generously-portioned, the cornbread was golden and not over-baked like a previous Unilocaler’s experience(hilarious), and I genuinely appreciate there was a non-fries swap-it-out option. Laid back, def more of a a diner kinda feel vs restaurant(which I dig, frankly), and a seat up at the bar was just what I was looking for as I was dining solo. Reasonably-priced for the area($ 30 for the pork /wings /sides combo), lotsa not-so-usual suds on offer as well. I’ll happily be back. Albion’s taking off as a neighbourhood — one can get the sense these guys are here ahead of the ‘cool curve’, but doing do with a good product. Free WIFI too. #score Reckon this joint will be a part of the area’s success. Visit with confidence, and enjoy the 60’s tunes while you chomp on a good feed.

Er. Mah. Gerd. This place is awesome! If you love nothing else but chips then you need to come here… for the chips and the chips alone. Put them in your mouth hole and enjoy the crispy amazing goodness. These chips have skin on them, they are long, they are perfect size and they crunch like no bodies business. Nobody puts these chips in the corner… NOBODY! Whoa that got intense. Lots of American food goodness here including ribs, wings, onion rings, coleslaw and burgers. The dipping sauce that came with the onion rings was delicious and slightly spicy. Definitely make a stop in at this joint.

It’s changed. And not for the better had hudsons for the first time in a while last night and my beef brisket roll was bland and full of fat. So dissapointed

Omg… So just what I needed after a day of craving a cheese burger. I enjoyed every bite of my pulled pork roll & corn bread. I also suggest getting the spiked peach tea, I ended up have a little bit of root beer in it at the end. it was a Party in my mouth. My mate had the the chilli fries & they were so good she wants them for breakfast.

Update — Well I have been back and back and back and back again and they have won me over! Do yourself a favour and get down to Hudson’s Corner. I recommend perching yourself on the bar stools for the best experience. The burgers here each and every time have been perfect. Flavoursome, tender and drrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooool, omg I may have to stop writing this review or risk drowning in my own saliva. And the wings… oh my… the WINGS! Since my first visit the customer service experience has definately improved with each visit. The food is so good, like any good relationship, those little flaws like space and acoutics don’t bother me so much now, in fact they enhance the whole authentic diner experience. Original Review — I do love the food at Hudson’s Corner. If I was just rating on the food alone it would definately get 5 stars. I will definately go back… for the food. Unfortunetly though it is not a place where you can go and enjoy a meal with a friend and have a personal conversation as the tables are cramped in and the acoustics promote a loud and buzzy atmosphere. It is only a small place but when it is at capacity it tends to sound like an old man’s public bar. So if you are into good food but not a noisy environment — then do yourself a favour and grab some takeway! The food is amazing, from the slow cooked pork belly, to the specialty wings and the amazing fries and onion rings. Plenty of craft and imported beer option to wash your meal down with! The service is adequate, but not anything special, there is probably a bit of room for improvement. You know that thing, where you sense people just love thier jobs. I wasn’t feeling it at Hudson’s.

I really liked this place. Staff were great, food was great and we left with a full belly! The décor isn’t all that exciting, but it is a relatively new place and perhaps the focus is on the food not the décor! Apparently they do more take away than dine in, so you need to get in early to get some brisket. We tried the buffalo wings, jalapeño poppers, and a plate of pulled pork. All of which were really tasty, I especially loved the jalapeño poppers, they had the right amount of kick to them. The corn bread was also delish. I definitely will go back and try the other menu items, especially the deserts. Those brownies and cherry pie looked amazing! Another bonus is you can BYO drinks.

It was ok, not great but not so horrible it ruined my evening. The service was good — prompt and they stay out of your way. BYO only which is fine and there are bottle shops around the corner. The décor wasn’t offensive but could use a bit of work, I’m not sure if they are still new and just hadn’t finished yet, but it’s pretty bare. They should really hang some hanging plants or something from that high ceiling to make it a bit more inviting. The food was ok. Honestly I don’t really like the Australian trend of massive burger that I can’t bite in to, and this ‘cheeseburger’ was massive. The meat pattie was practically a rissole. Good pickles, mustard and cheese, but it was overshadowed by the 5 cm meat pattie and 3 slices of 1 cm thick tomato slices. Fries were just regular frozen packet chips, nothing special. I got a slice of key lime pie to go, which was nice but super expensive for the size. Honestly I probably won’t go back. I think for the price it just isn’t worth it.

Ok seriously, just because this is close to the city. don’t think this should be like all the other restaurants because yes you will be disappointed in that sense. This place is more of a diner from back home. You can bring your own drinks… Sit back. Talk to everyone, and simply put. just have a great time eating out. The Chef here is by far the most enjoyable person to meet. His personality and charisma adds to the overall experience of eating here. He it upfront and honest. and next is the waitress. She completes the service with her lovely singing to herself and loving hospitality. Those two are just the complete package that I truly love when I’m dining out. Friendly people, not always in your face when you’re eating, and knowing how to make you smile. My review isn’t based on a one timer. This is my second and won’t be my last time here. First off let me tell you why I really like this place. You can actually order your meal for a certain time and arrive with it cooked ready to be eaten, this is perfect and I love the idea. It’s like dining in take away. If you do want to eat in, call ahead. they can book up fast. Ok. well on to the food ;) My first meal I order Smoked Pork RIbs with BBQ Chicken Wings(instead of the fries, which they were happy to substitute), Corn Bread, and a Brownie(my goodness. seriously have one). There was a slight problem with the corn bread. the chef burnt it lol. He came out and explained the situation and unfortunately I had to go, but he told me I could have it the next time I came back(and I did ;)). The Ribs, were amazing. the bone just slid out and the smokey taste was just awesome. The wings were beautiful white meat and basted with thick delicious sauce. That brownie, I’m a sucker for home cooked bakery goods. And with an amazing bakery down the road but closes at 2pm I’m happy to of found a great replacement :). My second meal was a Cheese Burger with Bacon, Corn Bread, and a brownie(yes, they really are that good). I came in towards the end of shift on Sunday, and even though it was Sunday and everyone was still waking up from hibernation. These two workers were still working on: P. I just love how casual and friendly conversations are, it’s a nice change from the«Hey how are you. what would you like» conversations you get elsewhere. Anyways. The food was great. The presentation of the burger just looked amazing, just look at the photos I uploaded. I love the ketchup, mustard, mayo combo :). And the corn bread was well worth the wait, so so good especially with the chipotle butter and the accompanied jalapeño dip(i think) ;) Overall the Scores out of 10: Service: 15, seriously those two are epic Food: 10, even with the burning of the Corn Bread the first time, they knew how to make it up and were friendly about it. Will I go back: Most definite :) … next time I think I’ll try a brisket maybe, And I seriously want to try the breakfast. Best meal of the day. — Adam

I was a bit excited to try hudson corner because it’s close to where I live and bbq is delicious, and I was a bit disappointed to be honest. The set up is pretty low-fi, but that’s ok, setting up a restaurant is expensive so obviously their budget was not huge so the décor is not as slick as other newish american sorts of places like mighty mighty etc… but the fit-out makes you think it’s going to be a cheap place to eat and it is not at all. I was actually quite surprised at how high the prices are considering the type of food, location, décor, and service. On the service, it took a while to even be acknowledged when we entered the restaurant. I got the impression they’re really new to the game and have no idea what they’re doing on that front. We were eventually seated and left to our own devices… no menus to peruse. We eventually approached the counter to enquire if they were actually table service? We were told yes, and given menus and left alone for about 15 minutes. A guy(a cook? the owner? IDK he was wearing an apron) came out of the kitchen and said he would take our starter order and come back and take our mains order later because it was busy(but it wasn’t really? And I don’t understand this reasoning anyway?) he told us there were no bbq wings available but there were other things available that aren’t on the menu… which turned out to be onion rings. So we ordered some onion rings and some buffalo wings which were available. The buffalo wings are meant to come with your choice of a few sauces but we weren’t asked which one we wanted. About 15 minutes later the same guy came back and put onion rings and buffalo wings on our table, and started to put down some other food items we hadn’t ordered. At this point I’d picked up an onion ring, and someone said«we haven’t ordered our mains yet» and he was like«this must be for a different table, put that onion ring down» and then took the food to another table. Total WTF moment? So another 15 mins or so ticks past and we are eventually given our onion rings and wings(which came with blue cheese dressing I think) which were both really tasty, no plates or cutlery though which was a bit unfortunate as we were sharing. We had to ask for napkins. Our main order was eventually taken, that took forever to come out too, and still no cutlery? It had to be asked for and the response was we’d have to wait because it was in the dishwasher… so I think they maybe only have 4 or 5 knives and forks in the whole place. According to my dining companions the baby back pork ribs were pretty tasty as was the accompanying coleslaw but the black beans were dry and average. We also had the pulled pork roll and the texas bbq brisket roll both served with chips. The chips were good! The meat on the rolls was delicious! The coleslaw was great! The buns however were stale and dry, probably 2 possibly 3 days old… kind of tainted the whole thing and at $ 18 I kind of expected more. On the plus side, it is BYO and we weren’t charged any corkage. On the down side, the prices were way too high for the quality and quantity of food and the service was pretty crappy. 2 stars. Sorry hudson corner, I really do prefer to write happy reviews.
